The Tide Is Turning in Freedom’s Favor
Looking backwards in a few years, it is entirely possible that we will see that December 2021 was the high-water mark of the great progressive coup, when leftists reached out for the brass ring, but their soft, girlish hands were too weak to grasp it. It is likely all downhill for them from here, though that is not entirely clear to us right now. When Gandalf returned from getting balrogged in the Lord of the Rings flicks, he says, “I come back to you now, at the turn of the tide." Except all their big battles were still ahead. And even if the tide has turned for us too, so are ours.
But perhaps this epic elf opera, as my pal Kenny dubbed the genre, has some wisdom to impart. We have huge fights before us, and we can still lose. Yet, if you look at the trends, if you look at the correlations of forces, in retrospect we might wonder why the hell we were so worried. Sometimes, when a jury comes back and the verdict goes my way, it seems to me that, looking back, it could not have done otherwise. But now we are in the moment, in the struggle, and it’s hard to get clarity even as we keep taking casualties. The fog of war is thick and opaque, but as we enter a new year, the odds grow ever in our favor.
Look at President Asterisk, at least on the few occasions they let him out to stagger about muttering incoherently. This guy is polling lower than Kamala’s dating standards. It’s not just us activists who are sick of him. It’s everyone.
Joe Manchin said No Deal to his New Deal 2.0. The filibuster isn’t going anywhere. Nor is the rest of his agenda. The Democrats managed to lose Virginia. Their majorities are on borrowed time. Nancy Pelosi is counting down the days until she punches out and goes back to her mansions; Chuck Schumer is as lousy a Senate majority leader as the wily Murder Turtle was a cunning one. There is literally nothing for the Democrats to look forward to in 2022 but pain. Grandpa Badfinger is on the defensive, which is convenient because they keep him hidden in his bunker.
Biden promised us a return to normalcy. If this is normal, give us more of those mean tweets. Afghans fall from airplanes as our grocery bills rise. China and Russian are shaking us down for lunch money. Kids come home from their garbage public schools crying because their unionized teacher told them they were privileged. College grads are frustrated that * failed to keep his promise about making the rest of us pay for their Oppression Studies degrees. Everything on Netflix is woke crap. Men are taking women’s swim records and the chick Jeopardy championship.
Did he fail to beat COVID as promised? Yeah. Is the media trying to convince you that he never said he would beat COVID? Yeah. Is it going to work? Nah.
The left’s most effective direct engagement weapon system, the regime media that is dedicated wholly to promoting and protecting the official, approved narrative, is becoming ever less effective as it squanders the one thing that makes it useful – credibility with the normals. We activists know the legacy media is a collection of trash-spewing liars committed to shrimping the toes of whatever Democrat is reading from that day’s narrative memo. But now the normal folks are getting the message.
Us wokecons sniff at the constant stream of photos of maskless richies dining as masked servants stand mute, or of hard 5 (though probably DC 8) congressgirls sipping cosmos with their beta boyfriends in the Free State of Florida. We know these people are hypocrites who don’t believe a word of their monotonous Marxist monologues. But normal folks who don’t live on Twitter are shocked by them not doing what they demand we do. It matters to normal people because, adorably, they still have a residual belief in the essential integrity of the system. When they encounter hypocrisy among their ruling caste, they get offended. It matters, and they hate it.
Luckily for us, our enemies are dumb. Oh, and they are arrogant too. They really do think that they are geniuses, and that we are idiots. Sun Tzu warned that to defeat your enemy you must know him. But they don’t read Sun Tzu, which would seem weird since he’s not a dead white male, yet it becomes clear from how Harvard and the rest habitually discriminate against academically-inclined Asians. But we read Sun Tzu, and we know them. We know that they did not get where they are at the heads of our institutions because they earned it. They did not build them. They were handed the keys because they went and got the garbage credentials at their universities and because they politicked up the ladder. These are unaccomplished people. We are not fighting Lex Luthor or some criminal genius; we are fighting the robbers in Home Alone.
But we should not deceive ourselves into thinking this is going to be easy. They will not just walk away from their power and prestige without a struggle. They will fight, and not fairly. We are already seeing it with the 1/6 inquisition violating every rule and right to try to criminalize dissent and opposition. They will ruin you if they can, cancel you, arrest you, destroy you, or worse. Do not underestimate their fascist tendencies and authoritarian dreams. You rely on them having consciences at your peril. Ask Ashli Babbitt about what they will do to you if they can.
So, 2022 will be key to securing victory. We can see their plan, and it’s weak. Their big plan is saturation coverage on MSNBCNN of the peril to the Republic posed by people who dissent from the regime. We are light-years away from dissent being patriotic again, but fear not – it will be the second President DeSantis takes the oath. But less than 1 percent of America watch leftist cable every night, and most of them live in DC. Great job, guys – way to help the 2024 Harris/Buttigieg ticket win 96 percent of the votes in Washington, while losing everywhere else.
They will start with a “commemoration” of the terrible, horrible, insurrectiony assault on democracy and stuff of January 6th, though usually that kind of activity takes place on a Jeffrey Toobin Zoom call or on the streets of a blue city. They will talk about a Republican coup while moms swear at having to pay double for milk under Biden compared with what they paid under Trump. Feel free to fight over Muh Democracy, Dems; we’ll fight over real stuff and kick your Swalwells.
Down the road we may well look at this winter of Democrat discontent as the turning point. It is not a done deal. We need to keep fighting. But odds are that we’re going to win. In fact, we may have already won.
