Ilhan Omar Brags That Nancy Pelosi Will Strip Lauren Boebert of Her Committee Assignments and She's Probably Right
Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Colorado Republican Lauren Boebert was back home. While talking to a hometown crowd, she used the vile Islamist representing Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District as the punchline for a joke. Why more people don’t do that is baffling, but I digress. This is how I described the incident in my post titled The Left Goes Bonkers Over Lauren Boebert’s Hilarious Mocking of Anti-Semite and Terrorist-Simp Ilhan Omar.
Omar is a particularly vile individual. She is a terrorist simp who hasn’t found an Islamic terror group she can’t condone (Ilhan Omar Proves President Trump’s Point When She Refuses To Say She Does Not Support al Qaeda; DISGUSTING. Ilhan Omar Refers To US Troops During the Black Hawk Down Battle As Satan; Ilhan Omar To Be Keynote Speaker at Fundraiser for Terrorist Linked Organization).
This goes as far as referring to the attack on the United States on September 11, 2001, as a day “some people did something.” Her support for jihadi violence against Israel and her bone-deep anti-Semitism is likewise well established (Pelosi Dodges, Ducks, Dips, Dives, and Dodges Question About Ilhan Omar’s Anti-Semitic Statements; Nancy Pelosi and the Left Close Ranks to Defend Nutbaggery and Anti-Semitism).
In her personal life, she entered into an incestuous marriage with her brother (Allegations Regarding Omar’s Curious Marriage ARE Credible (That’s Why You Haven’t Heard Much About Them))…hopefully, for the purposes of immigration fraud…married a couple of more times…and just a year ago, she ditched her husband for a new boyfriend, a ‘political consultant’ to whom her campaign had steered several hundred thousand dollars; he simultaneously kicked his wife to the curb. See Ilhan Omar Named as “the Other Woman” in What Promises to Be a Very Ugly and Entertaining Divorce.
This is what Boebert had to say:
The other night on the House floor I had my first “Jihad Squad” moment.
I was getting into an elevator with one of my staffers. He and I are leaving the Capitol and going back to my office and we get in an elevator. And I see a Capitol Police officer running, running to the elevator. I see sweat all over his face. He’s reaching…the door’s shutting, I can’t open it. What’s happening? I look to my left, and there she is, Ilhan Omar. And I say well, she doesn’t’ have a backpack, we should be fine.
Predictably, allegations of racism and islamophobia were tossed about like New Year’s Eve confetti. In the end, it seemed to me that Boebert was taken to the woodshed by, I assume, Kevin McCarthy (see Lauren Boebert Folds Like a Cheap Suit Over Her Ilhan Omar Joke and Is About to Learn a Painful Lesson About Apologizing to Radical Dems).
Predictably, the “outreach” effort went much as you might have imagined (see The ‘Reach Out’ Phone Call Between Lauren Boebert and Ilhan Omar Did Not Go Well).
Shocker, right? I’m sure you are gobsmacked that a terrorist-simp like Omar would let a perfectly good “racism” attack go away because of an apology. And with that, we were off to the races.
I had reached out to her Friday and three days later I was able to connect with her on the phone because I wanted to let her know directly that I had reflected on my previous remarks. Now as a strong Christian woman who values faith deeply, I never want anything I say to offend someone’s religion. So I told her that. Even after I put out a public statement to that effect, she said that she still wanted a public apology, because what I had done wasn’t good enough.
So I reiterated to her what I had just said. She kept asking for a public apology. So I told Ilhan Omar that she should make a public apology to the American people for her anti-American, anti-Semitic, anti-police rhetoric. She continued to press, and I continued to press back. And then, Representative Omar hung up on me. Rejecting an apology and hanging up on someone is part of cancel culture 101 and a pillar of the Democrat party.
Last Friday, McCarthy was hit with the issue at a press conference. This struck me as sort of strange as a lot of water had gone under and over the bridge by that time, and a spat between a GOP member and a detestable harpy like Omar shouldn’t be on anyone’s list of “must discuss” topics.
That brings us forward to last weekend. Here is Omar on Jake Tapper’s little show on CNN talking about conduct that is “unbecoming.” Keep in mind; this is a woman who defended the 9/11 terrorists, who is a rabid anti-semite, who married her brother to (we pray) facilitate immigration fraud, who entered into an adulterous relationship with a campaign consultant to whom her campaign funneled a few hundred thousand dollars, so she probably should just sit this one out. Also, watch how Tapper stokes the fire, much like he did at his odious “town hall” meeting after the Parkland school shooting, where he permitted a string of vicious personal attacks on Senator Marco Rubio and Dana Loesch.
TAPPER: Now, to be clear, after her conversation with you, Boebert went on social media and doubled down and said things that were equally incendiary.
OMAR: Yes. I mean, what…
TAPPER: What’s your reaction to McCarthy and how he described it?
OMAR: Yes.
McCarthy is a liar and a coward. He doesn’t have the ability to condemn the kind of bigoted Islamophobia and anti-Muslim rhetoric that are being trafficked by a member of his conference.
TAPPER: Why doesn’t he have the ability to do that?
OMAR: Because this is — this is who they are.
And we have to be able to stand up to them. And we have to push them to reckon with the fact that their party right now is normalizing anti-Muslim bigotry.
And then she goes on to make a threat.
TAPPER: It’s deplorable.
And we should note — and I’ll spare you the sound bites, but this is not the first time that Congresswoman Boebert has targeted you with these bigoted comments, any number of examples. She’s called you a terrorist, blackhearted, evil.
It’s not a one-off joke to her. This isn’t just one errant moment. This is a pattern.
What do you think Nancy Pelosi and Democratic leaders should do, if anything, about this?
OMAR: I think of — the most dangerous thing that she has recently said is that we have a problem in Congress because there’s a terrorist.
And I think, once you sort of invoke that kind of language, you put not just my life, but the lives of my colleagues as well, in danger, because we don’t know who’s out there. The people who are leaving these voice-mails that are saying, “We are taking up arms, coming to the Capitol to protect our country from a terrorist,” are not people that we should dismiss. They’re not joking.
And I think it’s important for us to say, this kind of language, this kind of hate cannot be condoned by the House of Representatives. And we should punish and sanction Boebert by stripping her of her committees, by rebuking her language, by doing everything that we can to send a clear and decisive message to the American public that, if the Republicans are not going to be adults and condone — condemn this, that we are going to do that.
I’ll just point out that I predicted this would happen in my original post on the Boebert/Omar spat.
Make no mistake about it. Omar is a vicious bully, in addition to her other attributes. She was one of the prime movers in the effort to strip Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments (House Democrats Move to Boot Marjorie Taylor Greene From Committee Assignments and GOP Pretends to Retaliate). On social media, the little fascists of the left are demanding that Boebert be stripped of her committee assignments because she gave Omar a sad, and there is little doubt the House Democrats will do just that.
If Kevin McCarthy and House Republicans meekly go along with punishing Boebert, just as they went along with punishing Marjorie Talyor Greene and Paul Gosar, then they have forfeited any right to ask us to support them (Marjorie Taylor Greene, Paul Gosar, 2022, and the Chicago Way).
If you think this is going away, think again. Today, Rachel Maddow’s blog, the eponymous MaddowBlog, brought the issue up again: McCarthy is giving Boebert a pass, but Pelosi may not.
In other words, GOP officials and leaders aren’t bothered by bigoted rhetoric from Boebert and her cohorts; they’re bothered by the fact that Boebert and her cohorts have caused political problems for the party.
Many Republicans are prepared to overlook members who slander a minority faith tradition. They’re far less inclined to give members a pass for creating a distraction that ended up pitting Republicans against one another.
…
Democratic leaders may have a different course in mind. In fact, as Politico reported, Omar told CNN’s Jake Tapper yesterday she’s “very confident” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will take “decisive action” against Boebert.
“As you know, when I first got to Congress, I was worried that I wasn’t going to be allowed to be sworn in because there was a ban on the hijab,” Omar said. “She promised me she would take care of it. She fulfilled that promise. She’s made another promise to me she will take care of this, and I believe her.”
Watch this space.
In my view, punishing Boebert is inevitable for several reasons. First, the Democrats know they are in deep doo-doo. The November 2021 election showed them hemorrhaging Hispanic voters and struggling to convince Black voters to turn out. Punishing Boebert for “islamophobia” helps the Democrats go back to their old “Republicans are racist” playbook. By the way, the only islamophobia here is the left believing that a suicide bomber is a well-known stereotype of a Muslim and that poking fun at Omar’s history of supporting terrorism is also linked to her being Muslim.
They will punish Boebert because they know Kevin McCarthy is a wuss who will not protect his members. He’s shown that repeatedly and this time will be no exception. He could bring this bullsh** to a speedy close by letting Pelosi and Hoyer know that he will be Speaker in the next Congress and do to their members what was done to his. He won’t, and they know it. They will also punish Boebert because Nancy Pelosi needs Omar’s support. Omar is a crucial member of the so-called “Squad,” which consists of anti-American leftists. Because Pelosi’s governing majority is so small, she often can’t pass bills without their support. That gives them power, and Pelosi can’t afford to offend her.
The House of Representatives is a fractious place in the best of times. When poor leadership is stirred into the mix, it gets a lot worse. If, as the polls suggest, the GOP retakes the House in 2022, the GOP caucus should look long and hard at its leadership and decide if they want a back-slapping, go-along-to-get-along type as Speaker and as Majority Leader — or if they want warriors and leaders who can not only tame the Democrats but demand respect from their own party.
