Senators Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin Issue Bizarre Statement Claiming Shadowy Outside Forces Are Politicizing the Waukesha Murders

 streiff reporting for RedState

A week ago, Darrell Brooks, a career felon, drove his car into a Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six people and injuring over 60.

In a short period of time, we learned that Brooks was out on $1,000 bail from charges that he had run down his baby-momma, courtesy of a George Soros-sponsored prosecutor (Activist Prosecutor Who Let Waukesha Suspected Mass Murderer out Has Very ‘Interesting’ Views). We also learned that he was a sex offender (Waukesha Suspect Was Convicted Sex Offender, Admitted ‘Pimping’ His 16-Year-Old Girlfriend in Video), that he had fantasized about attacking White people and expressed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter rioters, and he had been convicted for making a bomb threat (Waukesha Suspect Called to Attack White People, Had Conviction for Prior Bomb Threat). The criminal complaint against Brooks revealed that he had the opportunity to exit the parade route; not only did he decline to do so, but he also drove his car in a way calculated to maximize casualties (New Criminal Complaint Reveals How Truly Evil Waukesha Attack Was).

Several things became apparent within a couple of days of the attack. First, no one wanted to talk about a possible motive. If we compare and contrast the coverage of the Kenosha shootings (two felons killed, one felon wounded in a wholly justified exercise of the law of self-defense) with that of the Waukesha murders, the difference is stunning. Joe Biden called Kyle Rittenhouse a “white supremacist.” No rock in his background was left unturned to discover why he was in Kenosha and dissect his motives. The second thing that happened was the mainstream media began to shut down all coverage of the slaughter. Three days after the attack, on the day after the alleged murderer made his first court appearance, the Milwaukee paper didn’t mention the events of November 21.

It is hard to imagine the editorial genius that decided “Wild turkey raised by humans has wild story” rated front-page placement and the cold-blooded murder of six people and the injuring of five dozen more did not.

When Andy Ngo revealed what could be discovered about Brooks, he was subjected to an attack by The Daily Beast. This, I will admit, is a lot like being nibbled to death by a duck. However, it is still an attack of a journalist because he was doing journalism (Daily Beast Carries out a Scurrilous Hit Job on Andy Ngo for Doing What No One Else Would Do About the Waukesha Murder Spree).

Yesterday, the Sunday shows completely ignored what appears to be a racially motivated terror attack in favor of running to their fainting couches over a “new variant” of the Wuhan virus (see The Media Response to the Waukesha Massacre Is True ‘Enemy of the People’ Stuff).

ABC’s “This Week” — Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn.

NBC’s “Meet the Press” — Dr, Anthony Fauci, director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases; Gov. Tate Reeves, R-Miss.; Michael Cohen, former personal attorney to then-President Donald Trump.

CBS’ “Face the Nation” — David Clark, CEO Worldwide Consumer at Amazon; Fauci.

CNN’s “State of the Union” — Dr. Francis Collins, director of the National Institutes of Health; Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.; Gov. Asa Hutchinson, R-Ark.

“Fox News Sunday” — Collins; Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo.; Mohamed El-Erian, chief economic adviser at Allianz.

Now we’ve reached a whole new level of extending an official omerta over the Waukesha slaughter. Wisconsin’s senators, Ron Johnson and Tammy Baldwin, have released this statement:

“It has come to our attention that outside individuals or groups may attempt to exploit the tragedy that occurred last Sunday in Waukesha for their own political purposes. As the U.S. Senators representing Wisconsin, one from each political party, we are asking anyone considering such action to cease and desist.

We have full confidence in the local officials who responded with extraordinary professionalism, competence, integrity and compassion. They have many difficult duties to perform in the coming days, weeks, and months, and they should be afforded the respect and support they deserve to undertake their responsibilities without outside interference.

Their top priority is to begin the healing process within Waukesha by providing comfort and support to surviving family members of the deceased, and those injured both in body and spirit. They must also conduct a thorough investigation and afford the accused full due process. These will not be easy tasks, and will be made even more difficult if conducted within a politically charged atmosphere.

We ask everyone to demonstrate their interest and concern by praying for the victims, their families, and the entire community of Waukesha. The Waukesha Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County have also established the “United for Waukesha Community Fund” for those who wish to provide financial support for the victims.”

This strikes me as somewhat odd. In fact, it sounds much more like something a totalitarian regime would issue before a crackdown on dissenters than something two US Senators should be associated with. I’ve searched for a similar statement from Minnesota’s senators concerning the George Floyd riots. Nothing. Likewise, Johnson and Baldwin did not issue a statement around the Kenosha riots nor even after Wisconsin’s governor called out the Wisconsin National Guard in anticipation of a riot after the Rittenhouse verdict. There is no hint of who these shadowy “outside individuals or groups” might be. I’m assuming they are relying on one of the “terrorist advisories” that periodically emanates from the nether regions of the FBI and Department of Homeland Security. We all know how those turn out.

Absent some specificity in the warning, one has to assume it is bullsh**. However, the lack of hyperventilating about “white nationalists” indicates that if it is based on anything at all, the warning is about Antifa. This also begs the question of why Ron Johnson would blame some ill-defined and anonymous individuals and groups if he had warning of who they were.

Johnson and Baldwin should be demanding that a full and public accounting be given of the possible motive behind Brooks’ murderous rampage through a Christmas parade. If race was not a motive, they owe it to the nation to make that clear. If race was the motive, the same holds true. We also need to find out if Brooks acted alone or if he acted in concert with others.

Right now, all the evidence indicates that our self-styled elites have decided to memory-hole the Waukesha murders. Unless we press to demand answers, this atrocity will vanish from view, and that must not be allowed to happen.
