Dire Polling for Democrats Shows Voters Fleeing Them in Droves
If you want to know how bad things are getting for Joe Biden and the Democrats, new polling from NBC is showing his numbers slipping even further amid COVID-19 and the Afghanistan retreat.
The poll shows Biden’s approval rating slipping from 53% among adults in April to 48% in August, amid the foreign policy crisis in Afghanistan. Here’s some of the bad news.
Additionally, the poll finds 53 percent of Americans approve of the president’s handling of the coronavirus (which is a 16-point drop from April) and 47 percent approve his handling of the economy (a 5-point decline from the spring).
And just 25 percent approve of Biden’s handling of Afghanistan, while 60 percent disapprove.
What’s worse, the poll shows just how bad the voters are viewing the Democrats’ rule so far.
Eighty-eight percent of Democrats approve of Biden’s overall job performance, while an equal 88 percent of Republicans disapprove. (Independents are split down the middle: 46 percent approve, 46 percent disapprove.)
Forty-seven percent of registered voters prefer a Democrat-controlled Congress, while 46 percent want Republicans in charge. (That’s down from the Democrats’ 5-point advantage on this question in April.)
Fifty percent of Democrats rank the coronavirus as one of the most important issues facing the country (compared with 13 percent of Republicans who feel the same way), while 51 percent of Republicans see border security and immigration as one of the top issues (compared with just 4 percent of Democrats).
Keep in mind that a registered voter poll always leans Democratic, and NBC News polls usually lean Democratic. That means in a poll that probably skews a little too far to the left, the Democrats are barely holding their own, down by a point over their control of Congress in a poll with a three percent margin of error
Kamala Harris, already underwater, is a drag on the Democrats ahead of 2022. Now Biden is, too. And he is pretty much nowhere to be found. Friendly interviews leave journalists scratching their heads and Democrats privately groaning. Journalists are starting to get irritated by the lack of answers or even opportunities to ask questions. The country wants to know just what in the hell is going on, and they are getting upset that the administration that promised to bring honesty and integrity back to the White House is not doing that at all.
