Dad masterfully talks down grizzly bear in nail-biting encounter

This dad puts Dr. Dolittle to shame.

An Alaskan seaplane pilot demonstrated nerves of steel earlier this week after calmly convincing a massive grizzly bear not to attack him and his group of tourists. A video of the cool cucumber’s diplomatic defense methods currently boasts 11.4 million views on TikTok.

“My seaplane captain said he walked that trail 1,000 times and has never seen anything like it!” videographer Cara Siciliano, 44, told Newsflash of the harrowing encounter. The Florida real estate broker was visiting Katmai Park in King Salmon with two other couples and their seaplane captain when they encountered the bruin shambling down the trail.

“Honestly, I am amazed I did not seem more scared, my first reaction was to look up at the sky and make sure that I was good with God, and to pray, and then I hit record on my phone,” explained Siciliano.

The resulting 30-second clip depicts a massive Alaskan brown bear — which can grow to be up to 1,700 pounds and 9 feet tall — approaching the group of tourists, who are standing statue-still on the side of a gravel path.

However, instead of panicking, the cool-headed captain incredibly attempts to calm the beast down by saying “hey big boy” and “hey bear” while his group looks on in amazement.

His Treadwellian tactics appear to be effective: After making several passes by the sightseers, Smokey continues on down the trail.

Siciliano was amazed that the flyboy’s bear-whispering worked, especially as the animal was riled up from fighting with a fellow bruin before the encounter — hence the heavy breathing.

The methodology might seem odd, however, bear experts said the group had followed the National Park Service’s (NPS) protocols by not screaming or running, Newsflash reported.

The seapilot was unsurprisingly praised on social media for maintaining a level head.

“Bro I would have been s–tting myself,” exclaimed one awestruck commenter.

“That’s a grizzly,” said one TikTok animal expert. “You stay calm, move slowly and speak in a monotone voice to make them aware you are there and you’re OK. This group did excellent.”
