Betrayal

America’s allies are waking up to the fact that
the guy they preferred over Trump will
smile to their faces while knifing them in the back.

mentioned a while ago that since June, I’ve been reading foreign news outlets to get the skinny on what’s been going on in Afghanistan. With the American corporate media’s obsession with COVID panic porn and the obscure QAnon people, the odds of getting any other news of the world from them is pretty much zero. And from reading the foreign press, you know exactly how they feel about Joe Biden’s betrayal of America’s allies in Afghanistan.

Remember how it started?

Betrayal: Diplomacy is back.

Ah, yes. “Diplomacy is back!”

Well, this is how it’s going:

Betrayal

I’ll never forget when Grandpa did the G7 — swaggering around Cornwall like the star quarterback showing up at his sixtieth high school reunion, glad-handing the assembled G7 leaders, preening about like he was the star of the show, and of course, boasting how America is back!

Well, now our allies know the truth. The star quarterback has long gone to seed, and, really, he never gave a shit about you to begin with.

Hence the feeling of betrayal.

When I got done my with paying job this morning, I found a column in the UK Telegraph that absolutely excoriates Biden over his betrayal of America’s allies and how they will never trust this president again.

Now, back in June when Joe was swaggering around Cornwall, I couldn’t believe how gullible those G7 leaders were to think that, now with Trump gone, America is totally on their side again. Saps.

Joe Biden wasn’t some unknown entity. He’s been in government since before college coed Angela Merkel enrolled in East Germany’s Karl Marx University.

Yet there they were in June crowing about how delighted they all were that “America is back!”

They really believed that Biden would “lead” America and the world into a new Golden Age of Prosperity and multilateral diplomacy.

Guys, he got lost in the bushes trying to find the entrance to the White House even with Secret Service agents trying to steer him the right direction.

Remember:

Why did you fools think you could trust this man?

For all their bitching about Trump, the truth is, Trump said what he meant. He spoke his mind; he didn’t soft-soap it. But no. They preferred the old politician who smiles to their faces before knifing them in the back.

Anyroad.

Back to this column at the Telegraph.

Now, for background, Tuesday Biden did a virtual meeting with the other G7 leaders. And during the meeting our allies wanted to extend the August 31 deadline to leave Afghanistan. But Biden refused to budge.

Yet when he finally turned up (5 hours late) for his press briefing, Biden claimed that there was “strong agreement” between him and the other G7 leaders.

In other words, he lied. And let’s just say, that ain’t sitting well with “the other G7 leaders.”

Now, to the column:

As for the G7 meeting, it was no consultation with allies as Mr Biden suggested.

The president had already made his decision beforehand not to extend the evacuation deadline.

He told Boris Johnson that in no uncertain terms on the phone the previous evening.

So, what was the point of having a meeting at all?

It was Mr Biden, as he is wont to do, paying lip service to US allies.

Minutes after the meeting was over the White House released a pre-prepared statement confirming he would not be taking a blind bit of notice of them.

“American diplomacy is back!” has now become “Get used to looking at his back, guys!”

The columnist quotes a White House insider who provided this rather disheartening quote:

“A lot of them were convinced by simply showing up in Cornwall [for the G7] and saying the right things to leaders in the UK that would be sufficient – that they [the British] would think at least he [Mr Biden] isn’t throwing tweets at us.

“There’s a disconnect between what he [Mr Biden] is telling leaders, and the public, and what’s happening.”

Yeah, welcome to our world, guys.

We’ve been saying this for years. Joe Biden has always been a duplicitous, dishonest politician. Worse, he’s a duplicitous, dishonest politician who possesses the worst foreign policy instincts since Neville Chamberlain.

If it makes our G7 allies feel any better, Biden is also betraying the American citizens stranded in Afghanistan, so don’t take it personally.

And I don’t mean to rock your world guys, but most of us here in the US pretty much expected him to betray you. He is, after all, the guy whose betrayal of the American people has, since January 20, become a feature, not a bug.

Fact is, Biden’s betrayal should’ve been a given for Americans and our allies alike from the moment Joe placed his hand on a Bible and took the oath of office.
