Progressive Pete: Forward to the Industrial Revolution!
I keep saying that people who call themselves Progressive always seem to want to take us backwards.
In the name of “progress,” they have once again embraced the racial discrimination of the past.
In the name of “progress,” they are once again making the same argument about some races being incapable of intelligence and learning that was advanced by eighteenth century taxonomist Carl Linneaus.
In the name of “progress,” they have regressed to the point of believing that an angry Mother Earth punishes us with hurricanes and wildfires.
In the name of “progress,” they want to return to the time of Inquisition — treating anyone who doesn’t “believe” in the state-sanctioned religion of “science” as a heretic.
You would think someone who calls himself a Progressive wouldn’t be so bloody focused on sending us back to an earlier time.
Then again the Left has stripped words of meaning. When “anti-racists” are some of the biggest racists out there, and “infrastructure” no longer means roads, bridges and dams, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that “Progressive” no longer means making progress.
Despite what we were led to believe, Progressive doesn’t mean kicking the dust of the past off our shoes and stepping into a bright and better future.
It means going backwards.
Case in point, Progressive Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg:
Yes, my friends. Let’s kick the dust of the past off our shoes and step into the 19th Century!
Just think of the freedom! No more will you be saddled with the chains of leaving when you like, taking the route you choose and stopping on your timetable! Nope! Now you can travel like Mary friggin’ Crawley racing to catch the nine-thirty train from Downton to York on her way to catching the train to London! And if you miss it, don’t worry, there will be another train tomorrow.
What freedom!
Who knew our bright and better future would be a return to the Industrial Revolution?
There is nothing progressive about these people. Not one thing. They are, as I said the other day, Regressives.
When it comes to a free society, nothing was a greater leap forward than the mass-marketing and sale of automobiles. It gave us control over our own movements. It made us less beholden on others to get us where we wanted to go.
Post World War Two, when automobiles became so prevalent and affordable, even young people were buying them. So enamored of the freedom that came with owning a car, we never wanted to get out of them. So we made drive-in movie theaters and drive-in restaurants with car-hops bringing our meals out to our cars.
The car became a symbol of American freedom.
“See the USA in your Chevrolet.”
Progressive Pete doesn’t want to get rid of our reliance on cars because of the climate. Car ownership means freedom. And freedom is an obstacle to the Progressive.
They want us restrained, hindered, limited. And most importantly, they want to strip us of our freedom to choose and make us entirely dependent on the government.
We will travel in the manner they choose. We will work where they choose. We will live where they choose. And we will turn over our children to be “educated” the way they choose.
Convenience is bad.
Choice is bad.
Autonomy is bad.
Liberty is very bad.
So “Freedom,” like “Infrastructure,” will be redefined … in the manner they choose.
This is their bright and better future. And there is nothing Progressive about it.
