Operation Save Gavin is underway
I said back in January that the effort to recall California’s governor is making the blow-dried Ken doll really nervous. But now that the recall effort has vastly exceeded the required 1.5 million signatures, Gavin Newsom must be sweating bullets. Which explains why a national Operation Save Gavin campaign has been launched to try and pull his sorry ass out of the fire.
When he isn’t offering carrots to California voters in an effort to buy their votes, Gavin is furiously raising money to fund a massive signature verification effort in order to chisel away at the more than two million recall signatures.
Naturally, Operation Save Gavin involves Democrat politicians who don’t live in California – including Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.
Central to Operation Save Gavin is the messaging that this recall effort is exclusively the work of Far Right Republican ExtremistsTM who are looking to overthrow California’s democracy by using a recall structure that is part of California’s democracy.
Operation Save Gavin has launched a website called “Stop the Republican Recall” – as if the only people in California who have signed on to the recall are Republicans.
Yeah. It’s utter BS.
But the marching orders have been issued, and high profile Democrats from other states are answering the call.
Liz Warren took to Twitter and screeched “In a naked partisan power grab, extreme right-wing Republicans are trying to recall @GavinNewsom. Why? Because he dares to listen to scientists and fights to put power in the hands of working people. Let’s have Gavin’s back.”
Oh, is that why, Senator from Massachusetts?
Then again, if anyone would know about naked partisan power grabs, it would be a Democrat Senator.
If the only people who oppose Newsom are Republicans, and 58% of California opposes Newsom, doesn’t that mean 58% of Californians are Republican? And if that’s the case, Newsom never would’ve been elected to begin with.
No. The more logical and reality-based conclusion is hating Gavin is bipartisan.
Well, Democrats claimed they wanted unity. And here it is!
In California, part of the democratic process is the right to force a recall election. Why would Liz Warren, Bernie Sanders, Cory Booker and the rest want to interfere with California’s democracy?
Sounds a tad insurrectiony to me.
I mean, for crap’s sake, Liz brags that Gavin fights to put power back into the hands of the people. So shouldn’t she mind her own bee’s wax and let those people use that power to decide whether he stays or goes?
Why is a Senator from Massachusetts riding bareback over California voters?
California is a state where Democrats vastly outnumber Republicans. If the recall effort was nothing but a “naked partisan power grab,” the resulting recall election would absolutely go old Gavin’s way.
So why the fear? Why the panic?
Because the lying sacks of crap participating in Operation Save Gavin know it isn’t just California Republicans who want this incompetent blow-dried clown to hit the bricks.
And they don’t want the people of California to decide.
