The Ignominious Defeat of the Trump Deranged

This is the way Trump Derangement ends.
Not with a bang, but in whimpering, ignominious defeat.

Last week was a particularly bad week for the Trump deranged, wasn’t it? One after the other, those whose entire business or governing model was based on Trump Hatred suffered ignominious defeat.

Andrew Cuomo.

House Democrats.

The loathsome Lincoln Project.

The week of February 8, 2021 delivered one ignominious defeat after another.

The truth is, just for appropriating the name of Abraham Lincoln, the Z-List political consultants of the Lincoln Project deserved every ounce of ignominy that befell them last week.

Schadenfreude doesn’t begin to describe the experience of watching these loathsome cretins receive their just desserts.

And as someone who has lived under the corrupt, incompetent rule of Andrew Cuomo for ten miserable years, watching the worm turn for that strutting, preening, arrogant asshole fills me with more satisfaction than all the comfort food in the world could deliver.

As far as the House Democrats are concerned, their ignominious defeat was only partly due to President Trump’s inevitable acquittal.

Their larger disgrace was the fact that nobody cared about their Impeachment Performance Art to begin with.

Speaking for myself, I watched none of it. I didn’t care. Hell, I didn’t even bother writing about it. Outside of the still-frothing ResistanceLOL, the impeachment and trial of a former President was not, by any stretch of the imagination, considered “Must-See TV.”

This is the way Trump Derangement ends. Not with a bang, but in whimpering, ignominious defeat.

This morning I happened across an excellent column from Victor Davis Hanson over at American Greatness titled “The Wages of Trump Hatred.” Boy, he nails it.

Let me give you a couple examples:

On the Lincoln Project Grift:

But the con sputtered out, as they ended up accusing each other of improprieties. Rodent-like they scrambled overboard from the now rotting, putrid, and sinking ship.

The loudest of the moralists, Steven Schmidt, epitomized the absurdity of the project when he contextualized his silence about the free-wheeling Weaver. Schmidt, you see, was a victim himself, as he related a long ago purported childhood abuse trauma. And in racialist and chauvinist fashion, as Schmidt left he announced that he wanted a non-white male to replace him in the almost all-white male partnership.

Think of the condescending absurdity: Mostly all-white male swamp creatures were happy to rake in millions. But when their own moral lapses and depravities destroyed their grift, they quit—and only then invited in more women or people of color to sort out the mess they left in their wake.

On Governor Grandma Killer:

Now, again mysteriously, after the inauguration of Joe Biden, we learn the sordid details about Cuomo, in the fashion revelations appear daily and simultaneously about the Lincoln Project. It was known long ago that Cuomo, in a panic about the epidemic, had shuttled infected patients into the state’s extended care homes—and by executive fiat—where they proved mobile Petri dishes, infecting vulnerable residents, who began dying en masse.

Cuomo might have stopped the awful practice. He might have announced the accurate number of the dead to highlight the need to end immediately the lunatic diversions. Instead, we now learn he ordered his aides to hide the lethality figures. If he was blasted for 8,000 rest home deaths, then what, he feared, would be the public reaction at the true figure of 15,000 dead?

Would the president whom he demagogued now demagogue him? So Cuomo lied. He hid the grim data from a media all too eager before November 3 to comply. He lied to the New York state legislature. He lied to the U.S. Department of Justice. He lied to the public. And he assumed these were all “noble lies”—necessary for the good cause of ending Donald Trump.

As I mentioned the other day, it is always the people the American news media promotes that end up suffering an ignominious defeat.

The Lincoln Project was afforded so many fawning articles, interviews, and regular guest spots – not because these guys were A-List consultants with a track record of amazing electoral wins, but because they despise Trump as much as the media does.

So the media turned a blind eye to their sordid histories, the financial troubles, the unpaid taxes, and record for losing.

All that mattered to the geniuses in the news media was “Boy, these guys at the Lincoln Project sure know how to get under Trump’s skin.”

Likewise with Cuomo. The disastrous and deadly decision to return COVID-positive seniors to nursing homes was known since the spring of 2020. In fact, I first wrote about it back in late April.

But the media ignored it.

Why? Because as I said in my Ten Most Tiresome People of 2020 column:

The media latched on to Andrew Cuomo as their hero primarily as a way get back at Trump.

Cuomo became the media’s Anti-Trump – the Yin to Trump’s Yang.

The media that criticized Trump for his daily COVID press briefings penned sonnets of praise for Cuomo’s.

For the media, Trump had blood on his hands while Cuomo, killer of the elderly and Governor of the Wuhan Epicenter (that seeded the outbreaks in the rest of the country), was the Savior of the Nation.

In short, the media used Cuomo as shamelessly as a bitter girl uses a rebound guy to make her ex jealous.

Anyone with any common sense could see early on that the Trump Haters celebrated in the media would meet an ignominious defeat.

Call it the Avenatti Effect.

Or, as I like to call it, Operation Backfire.

When you push people into the spotlight who carry with them more baggage than a Samsonite store, their inevitable disgrace is a foregone conclusion.

But even those of us with common sense couldn’t have foreseen that they would all meet this ignominious end in the same damn week.
