Andrea Mitchell is as dumb as a post
Yesterday on Twitter Andrea Mitchell attempted to “own” Senator Ted Cruz and ended up stepping on a rake.
I suppose it’s possible Republican Derangement Syndrome causes a relatively intelligent person’s IQ to drop a hundred points. Or maybe Andrea Mitchell is just dumb as a post.
This idiot’s smug certainty is absolutely delightful, isn’t it?
The irony here is Andrea Mitchell has a degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania.
You’d think someone with a degree in English Literature would know Shakespeare when she hears it.
At the very least, you’d think she’d have enough brain power to do an internet search on the phrase “full of sound and fury signifying nothing” and see that this phrase is from Macbeth.
And Macbeth wasn’t written by Faulkner.
Now, to be fair to poor, dumb Andrea Mitchell, Faulkner did write a novel with the title “The Sound and The Fury,” so I could see how a stupid person could get confused.
And if Senator Cruz had said, “Impeachment is like Shakespeare: the sound and the fury,” she would have scored a big hit.
But he didn’t.
He directly quoted from Macbeth’s Act 5, Scene 5 soliloquy “Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow.”
Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle!
Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,

Shakespeare didn’t write “all our yesterdays!” That’s the name of a Star Trek episode!!
One thing’s for sure. That tweet from Andrea Mitchell is definitely a tale told by an idiot.
Actually, there was a bigger idiot in Andrea’s replies.
While thousands of us were replying to let her know that it was, in fact, from Macbeth, Washington Post NeverTrumper Jennifer Rubin gave full-throated huzzahs to Andrea for her terrific takedown.
Cruz has no soul because he accurately attributed the quote to Shakespeare. Whereas Jen is a Thinking Person because she stupidly believed Andrea Mitchell’s “fact check” that it was Faulkner.
Pretty much sums up the condition of our so-called “Smart Set” doesn’t it?
Not that we needed more proof that the America’s “Smart Set” is made up of glib, gibbering midwits who combined don’t have enough brain wattage to power an Easy Bake Oven.
In the end the thousands of people fact-checking her smug, totally wrong “fact-check” managed to get through that turgid mass of glop Andrea Mitchell has instead of a brain. So she issued this “correction” to her “correction.”
Ah, yes.
Typical of the so-called “Smart Set,” isn’t it?

Wouldn’t someone who studies Faulkner know that “The Sound and The Fury” title came from this soliloquy from Macbeth?
Andrea Mitchell didn’t get this wrong because she studied too much American literature.
She got it wrong because she is, like most of our “Smart Set,” as dumb as a post.
