Letitia James deflates Rock Star Cuomo – CNN hardest hit

Yesterday, New York’s Attorney General Letitia James took a blowtorch to the Made-for-TV image of Rock Star Governor Andrew Cuomo. And boy, is it all manner of satisfying.

The AG’s office released a report alleging that the Emmy-Winning, COVID Superhero Love Gov underreported the number of fatalities that resulted from his disastrous nursing home policy.

The number of COVID deaths due to that order is over fifty percent higher than Rock Star Cuomo reported.

54.4% higher to be exact.

“While we cannot bring back the individuals we lost to this crisis,” Letitia James said, “this report seeks to offer transparency that the public deserves and to spur increased action to protect our most vulnerable residents.”

I confess I was a little stunned that Letitia James is the one pulling the curtain back on Cuomo’s most deadly and consequential COVID failure.

Democrats in New York are like the mob. Letitia James exposing Cuomo’s incompetence is like Tesio turning on Michael Corleone.

Though I do have a theory for why Letitia James is breaking omertà and turning on the Boss – namely Tish wants to run for Governor. And what better way to hobble the incumbent than expose what an incompetent incumbent he is?

We’ll see if I’m right about that. Time will tell.

Anyroad.

For months now people who were suckered in by CNN’s non-stop gushing Love-Gov lovefest knew instinctively that the death toll from Cuomo’s disastrous nursing home order was far worse than the Governor was admitting.

Cuomo’s own defensive, blame-shifting behavior was a great big clue that this nursing home order did far more damage than they claimed.

Speaking of which, Tom Elliott from Grabien put together a great thread of all the blame-shifting and defensiveness Cuomo displayed whenever anyone brought up the nursing home disaster. You should read it HERE.

During the COVID panic-demic, CNN lionized Cuomo for one cynical reason — as I pointed out in my Ten Most Tiresome People of 2020 column:

The media latched on to Andrew Cuomo as their hero primarily as a way get back at Trump.

Cuomo became the media’s Anti-Trump – the Yin to Trump’s Yang.

The media that criticized Trump for his daily COVID press briefings penned sonnets of praise for Cuomo’s.

For the media, Trump had blood on his hands while Cuomo, killer of the elderly and Governor of the Wuhan Epicenter (that seeded the outbreaks in the rest of the country), was the Savior of the Nation.

In short, the media used Cuomo as shamelessly as a bitter girl uses a rebound guy to make her ex jealous.

But because Cuomo is hands down the most egotistical bastard to ever walk the earth, the dumb-ass, incompetent boob doesn’t realize he’s the rebound guy. He actually believes the media’s attention was all about how wonderful he is.

As a result, he’s spent the last nine months soaking in the fawning praise while arrogantly strutting around like Mick freaking Jagger.

Well, those folks at CNN aren’t taking the news of Letitia James’ report at all well.

CNN’s Chris Cillizza penned a slack-jawed and stunned article of the NY AG’s report. The title is rather hilarious, to be honest: “Andrew Cuomo’s Covid-19 performance may have been less stellar than it seemed.”

“Less stellar than it seemed” by whom? Well, Chris Cillizza and the rest of the idiots at CNN, that’s who.

Now, consider that above quote from my Ten Most Tiresome People of 2020 column when you read the opening paragraphs from Cillizza’s stunned and mournful piece. It’s as if the dude goes out of his way to prove my point.

If Donald Trump was seen as the public face of the failed government response to the coronavirus pandemic, Andrew Cuomo was seen by some [and “by some” read CNN] as the opposite [you mean as “the Yin to Trump’s Yang?”] — a politician who understood the myriad challenges created by Covid-19 and moved quickly to address them in the most transparent way possible.

The New York governor’s daily coronavirus briefings became must-see TV as Cuomo, in his characteristic “I’m-walking-here” patois, [And by “I’m walking here” read: “strutting around like Mick freaking Jagger.”] delivered updates on the number of cases, hospitalizations and deaths in the Empire State and provided insight into how he and his administration were working to combat the virus.

It was, for many, [and by “for many,” read: “for us here at CNN.”] a refreshing palate cleanser from the obfuscation, spin and denialism that defined how Trump and his administration responded to the virus through the spring and summer of 2020.

Cillizza gives the game away right at the start, doesn’t he?

Cuomo was “seen” that way because assholes like CNN’s on-air talent portrayed him as such. And they did it for the most cynical reason imaginable – to set Cuomo up as the anti-Trump.

And how gullible and stupid does CNN look now? They’re the ones who believed Cuomo was delivering obfuscation-free, spin-free information. And they lapped it up like a big, dumb dog.

Cillizza’s lead-in to explosive report from Letitia James made me laugh out loud:

Well, it turns out that all the hype obscured a troubling reality:

Hahahahahaha!

Says a guy whose network fueled 99% of the “hype” that helped obscure it.

Cillizza closes out his distraught piece with this laughable paragraph:

There’s much we still don’t know. But here’s something we do know: Should James’ report be borne out, it would occasion a serious reexamination of Cuomo’s performance during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The only people who have to do a “serious reexamination of Cuomo’s performance” work in the news media. They built him up. They created this Made-for-TV image of Cuomo the Rock Star. And it was all a lie.

It’s amazing, isn’t it?

CNN is directly responsible for Andrew Cuomo’s overly polished, superhero image. And yet, when Letitia James pulls back the curtain, Chris Cillizza stands, mouth agape in stunned dismay as if he had nothing to do with it.

They’re not like firefighters; they’re arsonists.

Only they’re arsonists who, after setting a building ablaze stand there in stunned amazement that the fire they started burnt the building to the ground.

Let me close with this bit of Schadenfreude.

Just two days before Letitia James tossed a wrench in Cuomo’s carefully-constructed image, Andrew Cuomo was on MSNBC once again deflecting his own incompetence by blaming Trump:

Hahahahahahaha!

Sorry, but for me, it’s all kinds of fun listening to this miserable lying asshole prattle on about the truth as if he was truthful — to hear him complain about “incompetent government” as if he was competent.

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Cuomo’s carefully-constructed Made-for-TV Rock Star persona is in a shambles. And while Letitia James might have done the damage for her own self-serving purposes, it’s still all manner of entertaining watching him (and CNN) unravel in real time.
