Democracy beats deep in the hearts of the American people?!
If I were to ask you what beats deep in the hearts of Americans, how would you answer?
If I had to guess, I’d say many of you would answer “Freedom” or “Liberty” beats in the heart of the American people.
It seems obvious, doesn’t it?
This is what is unique about the United States of America. While other countries might be “democracies,” we are a nation founded on the freedom and sovereignty of the Individual. Liberty is the linchpin that holds our Republic together.
But not according to Joe Biden.
Nope, according to Joe, what beats deep in the hearts of the American people is democracy.
And he actually thinks this is a good thing.
“The flame of democracy was lit in this nation a long time ago?” Democracy?!
So much for the Torch of Liberty.
It’s the Statue of Liberty, not the Statue of Democracy, you dimwitted old coot!
It’s the Liberty Bell, not the Democracy Bell.
Joe Biden is downsizing Liberty in favor of the tyranny of the majority. And he does it all while sounding like an inspiration-a-day calendar.
Now, I realize that Joe’s speech writers are trying to convince the American people that he really did receive over eighty million votes from living, legal, registered voters. So they bang on about “Democracy” and “the people have spoken” and the “will of the people” in order to downplay the fact that they stole the election.
But our founders didn’t light a “flame of democracy.” In fact, “Democracy” was something they rejected. In a nation founded on the sovereignty of the Individual, democracy – the rule of the majority — is a threat to Liberty.
Which is why we are a Republic and not a Democracy.
Democracy sure as hell shouldn’t be what beats deep in the hearts of freedom-loving Americans. Liberty should.
As David Reaboi put in on Twitter last night, “’Democracy’ is a term of art for these people. It has its own definition, lineage and intellectual history – but it’s not America’s.”
And yet, if you read the replies to that tweet, you’d be sickened by how many people think this insipid video clip is not only profound, but correct.
How far as a people have we fallen that anyone in this country would believe that democracy, and not Liberty, is what beats deep in the hearts of the American people?
Perhaps this is why so many in this country blindly obey when governments force us into our homes and close our businesses against our will.
Freedom, Liberty, Individual Sovereignty – these no longer matter to them.
It certainly explains why so many actually believe that our freedoms can be suspended because “it’s a Pandemic!!!”
After all, the governors who are shutting their states down were democratically elected. Therefore we must obey because “the people have spoken.”
Too many are willing to replace the sovereignty of the individual with the tyranny of the majority.
Biden’s supposed innocuous statement reveals something deeply insidious and much more dangerous to the country than a virus from China.
The torch of Liberty is being snuffed out, not by an outside foe, but by the very people who have inherited the blessings of Liberty.
And they’re doing it with a song in their hearts.
Too many Americans today have zero understanding of our nation’s history and founding. And because they possess the intellectual heft of a tea cozy, they applaud like clapping seals as the presumptive president-elect rejects the very foundation of America.
That, even more than the prospect of a Biden presidency, scares the shit out of me.
