Trump’s (Dark! Divisive!) Mount Rushmore Speech

It’s an interesting study in TDS to watch a Trump speech only after seeing the pearl-clutching histrionics over it from the clowns in the news media.

When President Trump was delivering his Independence Day speech at Mount Rushmore, I was asleep.  Hey, I’m not a spring chicken.  I can’t stay up past my bedtime.

Long story short, as much as I wanted to, I didn’t get to watch it live.

And yesterday, I was busy finishing up my piece on Martina Markota (which you really should read if you haven’t already), so I decided to hold off on the Mount Rushmore speech for later.

Turns out later was this morning.

I have to say, it’s an interesting study in the psychosis of Trump Derangement Syndrome to watch a Trump speech only after seeing the pearl-clutching histrionics over it from the clowns in the news media.

According to them, Trump’s Mount Rushmore speech was “dark” and “divisive.”  He used the speech to praise the Confederacy (he didn’t) and attacked those peacefully protesting (ha!) for “racial justice.”  And on and on the horrified well-I-nevering went.

When I finally got around to seeing the speech this morning, it didn’t come as a shock to me that the descriptions given had absolutely no grounding in reality.  Whenever President Trump speaks about American pride, greatness, strength and resilience, the media portrays it as “dark” and “divisive.”

Remember his Inaugural address?  Now, that one I watched live.  It was uplifting, hopeful, and inspiring.  I was especially struck by how often the newly inaugurated President used the pronoun “we.”  Boy, we weren’t used to that.

I wrote after his Inaugural address:

What these pearl-clutching assholes mistook for “divisiveness” and “anger” was actually what we on Planet Earth call “strength” and “resolve.”

Well, here we are nearly four years later and these idiots still don’t get it.

What I saw in this Mount Rushmore speech was just that — “strength” and “resolve.” The President of the United States was standing up and defending America – its people, history, heritage and founding principles — on the day commemorating America’s founding.

But, see, that’s the problem they had with it.  When the mob decides to destroy something, nobody is supposed to stand up and say “Not on my watch!”

Listen, the dolts in the news media don’t really believe this Mount Rushmore speech was “dark” and “divisive.”

These guys want Americans afraid to stand up to the mob.  As I said in my column “It isn’t popularity; it’s fear,” they want you terrorized into submission, but they’ll settle for terrorizing you into silence.

Then here comes President Trump flat-out refusing to be terrorized into silence.  He calls out the violent mob and he doesn’t mince words in describing the threat we are facing.

And the news media is apoplectic about it.

Why?  Because for decades the Left has gotten used to milquetoast Republicans who, at the slightest pressure, turn into a quivering mass of appeasement.

Trump refuses to do it.  And it pisses them off.

These activists masquerading as “journalists” don’t want you watching the speech for yourself.  Can you blame them?  Having finally seen the speech, I have no doubt that the majority of Americans would be inspired, energized and proud by what the President said.

These prats in the news media know that as well.

They know that the President’s speech, especially with Mount Rushmore as a backdrop, sent a powerful message to the American people. Not only that, it’s a message most Americans will embrace.

So the media lies about it.

They make claims that are not in any way evidenced in the actual speech.  And they don’t do it from kooky, far-Left fringe sites, but from the pages of the New York Times and the Washington Post.

But, see, that’s kind of the point.  It is a concerted effort to attack the American people.  As Kurt Schlichter put it in a column last month, “The left is seeking to define the scope of acceptable thought, and they do it by marginalizing the mainstream and mainstreaming the marginal.”

They want you to feel as if you’re alone – that nobody except a “fringe” would be inspired by a President honoring America’s heroes, history and heritage.  They want you to believe patriotism, pride and love of country are fringe ideas now.

In much the same way they’ve spent the last four years attempting to abnormalize Trump, they want to abnormalize patriotism while normalizing the Left’s virulent hatred for America.

And they certainly don’t want a President of the United States who stands up against the anti-American Left or calls out their mission to destroy our history and vilify our traditions and heritage.

The media cheer on the mob’s dark and divisive nature, then clutch their pearls because the President of the United States proudly and unwaveringly defends …. the United States. These are sick and twisted people.

As Bryan Dean Wright put it last night:

They’ve been doing this garbage ever since Inauguration Day.

And because it’s an election year, their sneering condescension has reached a fevered pitch.  The American news media by and large are anti-American activists.  They have chosen a side, and it isn’t the side of America.

That’s why Independence Day brings out the absolute worst in these America-hating gremlins.

Remember how they acted last year?  As I put it at the time, “While President Trump was celebrating American greatness, they were busy perfecting the art of wet blankentry.”

But this year, in their effort to defend and cover for the violent riots, looting and vandalism, the American news media has plumbed to even lower depths. Attacking everything that makes America great while celebrating those who seek to undermine that greatness is their default position now.

Because they hate this country.  And if you love America, they hate you too.  They hate you more than they hate President Trump. Then again, they always have.

So do yourself a favor. If you haven’t seen the President’s Mount Rushmore speech yet, ignore these hateful assholes, and watch it yourself.
