Article by Nick Arama in "RedState":

The BLM and other radical folks pushing for defunding police departments across the country were celebrating tonight after a veto-proof majority of the Minneapolis City Council said they would work to disband the police department in the city.
Nine City Council members indicated their support at a protest in a park in Minneapolis.

On Sunday, a veto-proof majority of the Minneapolis City Council announced plans to dismantle the city’s Police Department, promising to create a new system of public safety in a city where law enforcement has long been accused of racism

“I am no longer a reformist,” says Minneapolis City Council Member Alondra Cano. “We should and can abolish our current Minneapolis Police system.”

“This Council is gonna dismantle this police department,” says Minneapolis City Council Member Jeremiah Ellison. “It is your voice, your fight that has got us to this point.”

From Fox News:

KARE listed Council President Lisa Bender, VP Andrea Jenkins and Councilmembers Alondra Cano, Jeremiah Ellison, Steve Fletcher, Phillipe Cunningham, Cam Gordon and Jeremy Schroeder as attending the event, most of whom took turns to address the gathered crowd. Ellison is the son of state Attorney General Keith Ellison. Most members of the city council belonged to the Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party. [….]
“Our commitment is to end our city’s toxic relationship with the Minneapolis Police Department,” Bender said. “It is clear that our system of policing is not keeping our communities safe. Our efforts at incremental reform have failed, period.”

Because the city council has 13 members that’s a guaranteed majority, assuming they all continued to hold that sentiment during a vote.

Today, City Council members formally announced their commitment to end the MPD and create a new transformative model of public safety.

Here is their statement:

Translation: they have no idea what they are doing besides trying to assuage the protesters and they don’t know what will replace police.

What lesson do you think that teaches people? Basically, burn down the neighborhood and politicians will give you what you want. Let’s check:

THE BAR HAS BEEN SET YALL! MINNEAPOLIS CITY COUNCIL VOWING TO DISBAND THE POLICE  Chicago I vote us next!!! Please shove this news in the face of everyone who rolled their eyes at protestors setting precincts on fire!!! Demand change ON YOUR TERMS

So they’re basically saying protesters burned things down and it worked! The City Council just gave a reward to the bad behavior in addition to making a completely insane decision.
Reminder of some of what they did:

But even saying they intended to disband the police and divert the money to other causes wasn’t enough. It’s never enough for leftists.

Oluchi: “Just because we dismantle the Minneapolis Police Department does not mean we dismantle white supremacy. It does not mean white people get to take a break. I need y’all to learn about abolition, intersectionality, ...”

Folks thought the City Council had just thrown their city under a bus.

Something tells me that, somehow, despite the absence of a police force, the Mayor and the members of the Minneapolis City Council will all somehow be provided with armed security details

Next week's headline: "Gun Sales, Legal and Illegal, Skyrocket in Minneapolis"

Congratulations criminals of Minneapolis... your City Council is going to disband the police making your life GREAT!

Unfortunately for law abiding residents of the city, your property values are about to tank and your life is going to go to shit.
