They’re kicking up the Hysteria to Spinal Tap 11
What better way to maintain control over a once free people than
to terrify them into refusing to leave their homes?
In an effort to slow the reopening of the country and drag out this economic devastation, the news media is kicking up the hysteria to Spinal Tap 11.
It’s almost as if they want to America’s economy to stay in the shitter.
I wonder why.
Check out this tweet because it pretty much encapsulates how the media is fomenting fear and hysteria over the prospect of Americans being freed from government lockdowns.
I get the feeling this reporter for the Tampa Bay Times wants readers to believe that it is because Florida reopened that these one hundred and thirteen people died.
Which is nonsense.
Those one hundred and thirteen people got infected with the Wuhan virus before the state reopened.
At the risk of sounding like someone who understands science, correlation is not causation.
Odd how the people who want us to follow science are far more interested in hysteria than pesky things like, you know, science.
The hysteria is what matters to them.
They want you afraid to venture out of your homes and back to work.
If your goal is to use this pandemic to “fundamentally transform” the country, fear is a powerful weapon in achieving that goal.
And they are wielding it with wild abandon.
This pandemic has been a gift to those who seek to centralize government and control the people. And they are not hesitating to exploit it for all its worth.
The last thing they want is to lose this opportunity because Republican-led states are reopening and Americans are getting back to work.
So the news media is ratcheting up the hysteria in hopes that Americans will be sufficiently terrified at the prospect of going back to our lives.
I saw a thread from John Hayward on Twitter that is absolutely a must-read. You can read it HERE. But if you don’t do Twitter, I’ve transcribed it in its entirety:
It’s not surprising that the argument over how to best deal with a dangerous disease has mutated into a vicious battle over individual liberty vs. the power of the State. We’re not really just arguing about a virus anymore.
As usual, the statists are the aggressors as a cold civil war starts to heat up. Hopefully voters are paying close attention to the people openly gushing that the virus is a golden opportunity to force coercive change on us and “fundamentally transform” America. They mean it.
If Democrats win in 2020, they will start nationalizing industries, beginning with health care, which they’ve lusted after for a century. They won’t stop there. They’re already trying to nationalize private property (“rent should be frozen!”) and airlines will be an easy target.
The pandemic isn’t just an opportunity for Democrats to loot the treasury to fund a grab bag of madcap left-wing initiatives and pay off their special interests. They see a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rewrite the social contract while the middle class is too weak to resist.
For those paying attention, the coronavirus exposed a catastrophic failure of Big Government bureaucracy at every level, but statists see the opposite: a miraculous opportunity to reverse the erosion of public confidence in the State that has frustrated their ambitions for years.
Post-coronavirus America will be, for at least a good long while, a land of diminished freedom, increased restrictions, and reduced opportunity. People are conditioned to expect a New Normal where some things have changed forever in just a few weeks. They’ll be in shock.
Like ambulance-chasers who try to trick dazed accident victims into signing papers they wouldn’t accept once they could think more clearly, the Left will swoop down upon a nation in shock and push it to accept permanent changes it would never have agreed to in February.
And in a bitter irony, the system we end up with – more state-owned industries, the state controlling nominally private businesses with a heavier hand, one Party controlling much of the national wealth – will resemble China’s. We’ll contract an incurable case of their ideology.
This was an ideological crisis we were headed toward anyway. As in the first war against fascism, much of the Western elite admires the ideology of the enemy because it flatters their intellectual vanity, and they think free-market capitalist democracy can’t compete with it.
Sadly, the battle to contain China’s virus will leave our ideological immune system weakened against their fascist ideology. They know this, which is one reason they cooked the books to claim they handled the pandemic so much better than sloppy, undisciplined democracies.
The next job report will be a stunning horror after a series of incredible shocks. We’ll be told capitalism is on a ventilator and it’s time to switch off the machine. The surge in dependency on government will be met with a demand for a permanent increase in power.
And after an incredible three years of shattering Barack Obama’s vision of Hospice America – a compassionate Big Government nurse doing what it can to make a once-great people comfortable as they fade away – we’ll be right back in those hospice beds, with restraints this time.
The strangest thing is that people who see themselves “true conservatives” are comfortable with this,and will do what they can to make it happen, even though the Fundamental Transformation crowd makes no secret of its ambitions, and China makes no secret of supporting them. /end
We’ve been seeing this unfold for weeks now, haven’t we. It’s why Congressional Democrats tried to pack relief bills with a wishlist of far-Left garbage. It’s why Democrats in state and local governments are bestowing on themselves powers that are unconstitutional.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
It isn’t as if they’ve been particularly subtle about using this pandemic as an opportunity to impose tyrannical restrictions on a free people while encouraging fellow citizens to narc on their neighbors.
But we are a stubborn lot. And these power grabs are getting pushback. As a result, states are reopening, and the states that refuse to reopen are witnessing mass protests.
These exercises in freedom must be stopped.
And what better way to stop them than having the news media crank up the hysteria in order to frighten people back into their homes?
Meanwhile, the tyrants are celebrated while those who respect Liberty are vilified as monsters.
Andrew Cuomo, the Governor of the
Governor Ron DeSantis, on the other hand, is portrayed by the news media as a heartless monster because he opened the beaches. And now they’re accusing his reopening the state for killing one hundred and thirteen people.
They want you afraid because they believe frightened people are more likely to surrender their liberties.
And many frightened people are doing just that. They are the ones who are calling police on their neighbors. They are the ones saying, “You have no rights; it’s a Pandemic!!!“
It isn’t enough for you to be afraid of the virus because it isn’t about the virus anymore. They want you to be afraid of your fellow Americans — especially those who dare to defy the wannabe tyrants.
But the defiance of random citizens isn’t nearly as great a threat to their plans as entire states reopening.
They can’t have states getting back to normal before this “fundamental transformation” is complete.
If states reopen, there will no longer be a need for gigantic relief bills. How can they sneak Leftist garbage into relief bills if there is no longer a need for them?
And what about the people in states that refuse to reopen?
They’re going to see Georgia or Florida or Texas get back to normal while they’re stuck in the homes watching their livelihoods get destroyed. How do you think that’s going to make them feel?
Why, they just might start pushing back against their wannabe tyrants.
This is why we’re seeing breathless reporting of every new case of Wuhan virus in newly reopened states. They want you to believe that these cases are directly linked to lockdowns being lifted. Because they don’t want the lockdowns lifted.
They aren’t finished exploiting this pandemic. There is so much more “fundamental transformation” they hope to achieve. They need us to stay locked down long enough that there is no hope of turning back.
The question is, are we willing to be manipulated into compliance through fear mongering and hysteria?
Or will we fight back?
