Trump Will Be The First President To Attend The March For Life
President Donald Trump is slated to become the first president to attend the March for Life in the nation’s capital on Friday.
Since the march began after the landmark Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in 1973, the demonstration has since become a staple in pro-life activism bringing thousands from across the country to the heart of the nation’s capital to advocate for the sanctity of life. This year will be the annual march’s 47th year.

Last year, Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise visit at the event, while Trump addressed the crowd by video. Trump also delivered a video address in 2018, and Pence became the first sitting vice president to attend the event in 2017.
As the White House has continued to shape the federal judiciary, including the appointment of two conservative judges on the Supreme Court, many are hopeful that the tide will soon turn in favor of over-ruling the high court’s decision in Roe v. Wade.
Wednesday marked the 47th anniversary of the decision in Roe v. Wade. Since then, more than 61 million lives have been lost to abortion, not including the number of women who have struggled with the severe trauma that can result from the procedure.
The president of the March for Life, Jeanne Mancini, applauded Trump’s decision to attend the rally scheduled for Friday.
“From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and abroad, to calling for an end to late-term abortions, President Trump and his administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering,” Mancini said in a statement. “We are grateful for all these pro-life accomplishments and look forward to gaining more victories for life in the future.”
