It’s a Congressional Seat, not a Barony

Elijah Cummings ethically-challenged widow hopes to inherit her late husband’s seat in Congress. But of course she does.

With the dishonorable Elijah Cummings dead, it probably doesn’t come as a galloping shock that his equally dishonorable trophy wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, plans to run for his Congressional seat.

It’s stunning how members of Congress and their families treat a Congressional seat as if it’s some kind of peerage.

Cummings was a member of the House of Representatives, not the House of Lords.  And it is a Congressional seat, not a Barony.

But for some reason, his ethically-challenged wife has the hubris to think that Cummings’ Congressional seat should be passed on to her as his surviving spouse.

She isn’t alone.

Debbie Dingell is now Congresswoman Dingell because she ran for her husband’s seat.  Apparently, the Dingells plan to cling to that Congressional seat like a dingleberry.

When John McCain shook off this mortal coil, Arizona Republicans actually considered passing his peerage on to his wife Cindy.

And then there’s that pervy old coot John, Lord Conyers who, after resigning in disgrace, endorsed his son, the Viscount of Motor City as his replacement.

Of course we mustn’t leave out the Kennedys who seem to believe a seat in the Senate is their divine right.  Why do you think Joe Kennedy, the Third Earl of Chapstick, is challenging Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey in the 2020 primary?

The Kennedys, the Bushes, the Clintons – they all believe they are entitled to office.

You think when Maxine Waters finally bites the dust her daughter Karen won’t make a play for Mom’s Congressional seat?  Truth is, I’d more shocked if she doesn’t.
Karen Waters has been raking in the big bucks for years thanks to Mummy.  Just do a search on “Karen Waters” at the Washington Free Beacon.  The number of articles on Karen’s windfall courtesy of her crooked mother’s campaign would astound you.  There’s no way she’d want that honey pot to dry up.

You’d think we never fought a Revolution to rid ourselves of an entitled nobility.

Yet here we are.

Now, I for one am not in any way surprised the ethically-challenged wife of Phony Baron Cummings wants to get her hands on his Congressional seat.

Thanks to Elijah’s position in Congress, the missus made a butt-load of money.  And now that the old bellowing codger kicked, I’m sure the thought of the money spigot running dry galls her to no end.

So what better way to make sure you continue living that life of privilege to which you’ve become accustomed than to make a play to inherit that shiftless crank’s seat?

Far too many of our so-called “public servants” think they and their heirs are entitled to office.

They enrich themselves and their family members while pretending they are “representing” the interests of their constituents.  When in fact the only interests they represent are their own.

We used to consider those elected to Congress as “temporary politicians” or “citizen legislators.”  But where’s the fun in that?

Why settle for “public service” when you can use elected office as a get-rich-quick scheme?

These awful people see themselves as the modern-day aristocracy – with all the wealth, prestige and entitlement that comes with it.

It should sicken you.

It sure as hell sickens me.

Voters in MD-7 should roundly reject Elijah’s money-grubbing wife.

But I’m not so sure they will.

Given the fact that voters sent Phony Baron Cummings to Congress for over twenty years despite the fact that he did the sum total of nothing for his district leads me to suspect they’d have no problem granting his ethically-challenged, gold-digging wife that Congressional seat in his stead.

And if they do, like her husband before her, Mrs. Cummings will use that seat as a way to improve the life and fortune of only one constituent: herself.

Our Founders must be spinning in their graves.
