Being Offended Does Not Give You Power Or the Moral High Ground

Ricky Gervais is a comedian who, by his own words and actions, does not care about people being offended by his jokes. The world still remembers Gervais proving it in 2020 during the Golden Globes when you told his fellow celebrities to their faces that they know nothing about the real world and have no right to lecture the public.

Once again, Gervais is under attack. In his latest Netflix comedy special, Gervais once again tells jokes that had people clutching at their pearls and demanding censorship.

As noted by the Daily Caller, Gervais told a joke about terminally ill children resulting in a cancel mob forming against Gervais and demanding that Netflix remove the joke:

Gervais’ joke apparently focuses on how busy he is making videos for terminally ill children supported by the Make-A-Wish Foundation, according to an interview with BBC 5 Live. In it, Gervais says he doesn’t go into hospitals and say “Wake up, baldy!” He then says, “Why didn’t you wish to get better? What, you fucking ret**ed as well?”

And of course, all the Karens came out to scream hysterically that Gervais’ joke wasn’t funny. In fact, they hated it so much they started a petition to have Gervais censored by Netflix, and more than 6,000 people were apparently comfortable removing his freedoms (and likely their own — I mean, we’re talking about a country full of people who thought Brexit would save their National Health Service, they’re absolutely stupid enough to remove their own freedom of speech).

Of course, those who are angry about Gervais's joke didn't pay attention to what he said and Gervais commented on the reason behind these people being so offended and taking action against him.

“They’re not really offended. They just want to be heard,” he said in a BBC interview

I would add that it's probably more than just wanting to be heard, it's wanting to be seen. I can't tell you how these offended people live their lives with much accuracy seeing as how I don't know them, but I do think that many of these people go to great lengths to prove something.

And they're not just proving something to others either. They're trying to prove something to themselves. While being offended is a natural reaction to disagreeable things that every single person has (I'm offended by nanny state authoritarians and their view that they have a right to tell me how to live) the perpetually offended seem to arrive at offenses wherever they can.

They're moral busybodies who see themselves as more upstanding than everyone else and believe themselves to have a firmer grip on what is good and proper than you do. By taking offense to everything around them they can signal their virtue and make sure you know that your behavior and/or beliefs are less than theirs.

The thing is, someone's offense doesn't inherently have power or authority. The person being told they're being offensive has to agree and submit to the offended party that they're out of line for the offense to have any weight.

Gervais is right on the money by denying these people what they want, which is for you to feel like you're lesser and they're greater as a moral figure and a person.

If someone tells you that something you did offended them and you know they have no real reason to be offended, the correct answer is "Okay...be offended." This will likely cause them to rant, rave, or show disgust but honestly...who cares?

If they can't take a joke then they should probably lock themselves up in their home and never come out because the world is full of jokes and sometimes the darker jokes are absolutely necessary for the individual and societal health.

On the Fringe, Red Pill News, and more- December 23

Does Any of This Look Familiar?

The following document was apparently discovered in the 1960s.  I don’t know who first published it, but I reproduce it in its entirety, with quotation marks, because I have no intention of ever applying to be the President of Harvard:

“In May 1919, at Dusseldorf, Germany, Allied forces captured a very significant document:  ‘Communist Rules for Revolution.’  As you read these ‘rules’ now 50 years later, remember what you read and hear daily via news media.

A.  Corrupt the young:  get them away from religion.  Get them interested in sex.  Make them superficial; destroy their ruggedness.

B.  Get control of all means of publicity, thereby,

    1.  Get people’s minds off their government by focusing their attention on athletics, sexy books, plays [movies], and other trivialities.

    2.  Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance.

    3.  Destroy the people’s faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up for contempt, ridicule, and obloquy [criticism].

    4.  Always preach true democracy, but seize power as quickly and ruthlessly as possible.

    5.  By encouraging government extravagance, destroy the credit, produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent.

    6.  Promote unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders, and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of the government towards such disorders.

    7.  By specious arguments cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues, honesty, and sobriety.

C.  Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext with a view to confiscating them and leaving the people helpless.”

I have no information on who published this. Still, I have absolutely no doubt it is legitimate because I have seen other such communist documents that encourage and advise the same approach to overthrowing a free, democratic society.  Again, it was apparently publicized about 50+ years ago, and whoever released it thought it was quite apropos to that age.

Do you see anything in these “Communist Rules for Revolution” happening in America today?  Do you see anything in these “Communist Rules for Revolution” NOT happening in America today?

This reads like the playbook of what the Democratic Party has been doing for years.  Let’s briefly analyze, point by point.

Point A:  Corrupt the young, get them away from religion, oversexualize them, and emasculate them.  We all bemoan what too many of America’s youth have become.  They have largely rejected religion and are obsessed with sex and pleasure.  As we all know, masculinity is condemned, and femininity is exalted.  The homosexual/transgender movement is deliberate.

Point B:  Get control of all means of publicity.  Journalism, of course, no longer exists in America.  The Left controls the media, as is according to plan.

Point B1:  Get people’s minds off the government and concentrate on indulgence.  Most Americans have no clue what is really going on in Washington, D.C., or their state governments, but they can tell you anything you want to know about Taylor Swift.

Point B2:  Divide the people into hostile groups.  Many of the issues that separate us are downright lies (climate change) or of no importance to the country (wars of no national interest).

Point B3:  Destroy the people’s faith in natural leaders.  Elevate the Bidens and Pelosis, destroy the Trumps and DeSantises.

Point B4:  Always preach true democracy but grab power as fast as possible.  Everything the Democratic Party does (so they claim) is “democratic,” and Donald Trump is Hitler.  And countless Americans believe them.

Point B5:  Encourage government extravagance, destroy credit, and produce inflation.  That is one of the best descriptions possible of the first three years of the Biden administration.  They haven’t destroyed America’s credit yet, but that’s only a matter of time if the other two continue.

Point B6:  Encourage strikes, inspire civil disobedience, and promote government leniency towards such.  We haven’t seen an overabundance of destructive strikes in America recently. Still, there is no question the Democratic Party encourages civil disobedience (George Floyd, looting, Palestinian riots, illegal alien invasion) and is very lenient towards such activities.  The First Amendment is vital in America, but that doesn’t include burning buildings, stealing other people’s property, or killing police.  Laxness towards such activities will only produce more of the same—which is their intent.  The Democratic Party, if/when it gains the totalitarian power it craves, will eventually use government to step in with a mighty hand, “save the country from right-wingers,” and produce a party dictatorship (witness the CCP in China).  The Democrats will have power that they will never surrender.  Governments never give back power once they have obtained it.

Point B7:  Break down moral virtue with specious arguments.  “Live and let live.”  “As long as it doesn’t hurt anybody.”  “It’s my body.”  A licentious, pleasure-oriented society can never be free—their “passions forge their fetters” (Burke).  But freedom isn’t the goal of the Left; control is.

Point C:  Registration and confiscation of firearms.  This is self-evident in America today; no comment is needed.

There is very little in the Dusseldorf communist document of 1919 that isn’t in evidence in America today, all of it being promoted by the Democratic Party and too many in the Republican.  The American people are the frog in the pan of water; the temperature is slowly elevated, the frog doesn’t notice the incremental rise, and before long, he is a meal for despots.  When it finally happens, many on the Left will rebel; they will finally realize—as many communists in the Soviet Union and China did—that they were lied to, hoodwinked, and snookered.  But it will be too late then.  They will be lined up against the wall and shot, too.

Like the frog being boiled to death, history doesn’t usually happen fast.  But it does happen.  And it tends to accelerate the farther down the slope to destruction a nation goes.  We’ve seen that acceleration happening in America in the Biden administration.  If he gets four more years, there may be no America left.

Stopping Campus Antisemitism Requires Confronting The Marxism Behind It

Vile campus antisemitism is the culmination of years of ideological drift, cyclically driven and reinforced by students, faculty, and bureaucracy.

Magill last week made a very unfortunate misstep. … Following that, it became clear that her position was no longer tenable.” With these words, the University of Pennsylvania’s then-board Chair Scott Bok announced the resignation of President Liz Magill.

“Unfortunate misstep” is an understatement for what Magill and two other Ivy League presidents actually did in a hearing earlier this month. When asked whether calls for genocide against Jews violate their campuses’ harassment policies, all three declined to state in the affirmative. That’s not a misstep — it’s a full-blown scandal.

Still, thanks to well-merited backlash from donors, trustees, and alumni, Magill is out, and some modicum of sanity has returned to the Ivy League. Or has it?

On one hand, it is a welcome sign of cultural sanity when elites rebuke pro-terrorist protesters and deplorably weak administrators at our most prestigious universities. It shows that common sense can still prevail in our country — at least when it becomes too embarrassing or expensive for people to ignore it.

On the other hand, we shouldn’t congratulate ourselves when leftist institutions make some tiny concession. We can’t fool ourselves that removing one university president or rescinding a few hundred-million-dollar donations will deliver us from left-wing extremism. The truth is that our societal rot goes far too deep for that.

The vile displays of antisemitism on the campuses of Penn, Harvard, MIT, and other schools in the wake of the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas terrorist attacks were not sudden breaks from normalcy. Celebrating the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust and blatantly calling for genocide — these transgressions are notable for the degree of their depravity, but they are simply the culmination of years of ideological drift, cyclically driven and reinforced by students, faculty, and bureaucracy.

The same radicals who gave us “from the river to the sea” and “Intifada” gave us so-called “diversity, equity, and inclusion,” three magic words that permitted Penn to put a man on the women’s swim team and pushed Wellesley College to become co-ed — while remaining an “all-girls” institution.

The same radicals who gave us DEI gave us “Black Lives Matter,” a seemingly innocuous phrase whose calculated circulation and embrace justified countless instances of violence and looting — and empowered a racist, anti-American group that has now openly aligned itself with Hamas.

Before BLM, they gave us violent protests against conservative speakers. Before that, they gave us the safe-space craze, which jeopardized campus free speech and made a mockery of academic inquiry. The list goes on.

These movements aren’t identical. Nevertheless, if people who are outraged about today’s outpouring of antisemitism truly want change in the Ivy League and beyond, they need to be willing to oppose all of them — because they are all connected by the same thread of Marxism that threatens academic integrity and the American way of life.

I use that word very intentionally. I know “Marxism” has a history of being misused and overused. But there is no better way to describe the ideological narratives responsible for the past decade of “woke” craziness at colleges and universities.

Like communism before them, these left-wing cultural narratives divide the world into oppressed and oppressors. The so-called “LGBT community” versus the “straight-cisgender patriarchy.” “People of color” versus “white people.” “Native Palestinians” versus “Zionist colonizers.”

These categories erase individuality for the sake of group identification. They also replace the Judeo-Christian understanding of personal responsibility for evil — an understanding upon which our entire legal system is built — with a perverse conception of zero-sum group power dynamics.

Finally, like other Marxist ideologies before them, these narratives eventually legitimize violence against the alleged “oppressors.” This might look like twisting a professor’s neck. It might look like a “night of rage” against crisis pregnancy centers. It might look like days of rioting, looting, and vandalism in our cities. It might look like shouting, “Gas the Jews.” However it appears, whatever its flavor, violence is the end of the road. Because, if politics is reduced to zero-sum power dynamics, it is an acceptable answer to perceived injustice.

I say this with confidence, as none of this is new. Marxist intellectuals of the 19th and 20th centuries said as much long ago. Jean-Paul Sartre argued that revolutionary murder is therapeutic. Frantz Fanon did the same. Noam Chomsky defended Pol Pot. All three have a longstanding cult among leftist professors and college students.

As Ross Douthat observes, the current outbreak of campus antisemitism is just a resurgence of “impeccably left-wing sentiments, commonplace in the not-so-distant past, with a long pedigree in the Marxist-Leninist and anticolonial visions that exerted so much sway (and killed so many people) across the 20th century.” In short, this is so much bigger than pro-Hamas demonstrations.

Are we willing to confront the depths of this evil in response? Are elites willing to reject the whole ideological thread, not just its most recent manifestations?

It’s an open question, but I hope the answer is yes. Unless we say no to the Marxist revolutionaries, they will continue to gain ground in the academy and beyond. And the American values that stand in their way — from equality under the law to the very existence of individual rights — will be slowly chipped away for anyone the left accuses of “wrongthink.”

If that happens, no amount of censure and discipline from our corporate class will be able to make the madness stop.

Trump Talks About Hitler, 2024—And Why He May Consider Attending a GOP Primary Debate

Becca Lower reporting for RedState

On Friday, the leading contender for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, former President Donald Trump, sat down for an interview with syndicated radio host Hugh Hewitt. (Disclosure: RedState and Hewitt's radio program are both owned by Salem Media.)

In the "Hugh Hewitt Show" interview, Trump talks about a cornucopia of topics, not only about the 2024 campaign and the broader subject of U.S. elections and insurrection, but recent attempts by Democrats and the legacy media to smear Trump as an acolyte of Adoph Hitler. And Trump teased about the possible situation that would push him to attend a GOP presidential primary debate.

But let's start with the latest, nothingburger controversy the Democrats and their media pals made up about him: extrapolating his recent, off-the-cuff comments about illegals and the Southern border crisis with writings by the German dictator.

The media has run numerous stories insinuating that the former president was both xenophobic and echoed Hitler's writings, when Trump spoke about the masses of illegal immigrants crossing the Southern border, "poisoning the blood of our country."

Trump said during the interview with Hewitt "that he’s not a student of Hitler, and he’s never read 'Mein Kampf,' the manifesto written by Hitler." He continued:

First of all, I know nothing about Hitler. I’m not a student of Hitler. I never read his works. They say that he said something about blood. He didn’t say it the way I said it, either, by the way, It’s a very different kind of a statement.

There was also another piece of fake news to put to rest--whether Donald Trump would commit to handing over power peacefully if he returns to the White House in the 2024 election. Trump answered that, despite the 2020 election being "rigged," he chose to hand over power:

Of course. And I did that this time. And I’ll tell you what. The election was rigged, and we have plenty of evidence of it. But I did it anyway.

Lastly, Trump made a bit of news during the interview, when hinting under what circumstances he might be persuaded to show up to a debate during the Republican presidential primaries:

Trump on Friday also said that if the 2024 presidential race was close, and there was one other Republican candidate left after the New Hampshire primary, he would debate them.

Since Trump spoke about many important subjects during the interview. watch for more coverage about it in RedState.

Border Crisis Boiling Over

Have you ever boiled milk?  It happens slowly at first, then suddenly all at once….  Slowly AT First (SAF)!

Currently the influx of illegal, unvetted, unchecked and undocumented migrant arrivals into our country is happening at the rate of more than 200,000 every month.  That’s three college football stadiums of unknown characters arriving and disbursing each month.   These statistics are just the recorded intercepts and releases, this statistic does not include those who found a way through without presentation at the border.

This scale of influx has been happening for almost three years now.

We are beyond the point then the unsecure border is the issue…. With tens-of-millions of unknown migrants seeded throughout the nation, we are now in the consequence phase.   We are now in the consequence phase.  Repeated, intentionally because so many people just don’t understand what those consequences will mean.

The “fundamental transformation” is proceeding without any impediment.  However, now we see various voices in the uniparty politic starting to position themselves, their statements, their expressions, in such a manner as to avoid blame for a situation that is about to explode.

They are positioning for maximum accountability avoidance!

Capiche’?

[…] …”Johnson’s letter comes as recent video footage shows CBP being overwhelmed by migrants trying to cross the southern border with Mexico. A new record was set just this week when CBP apprehended more than 12,000 migrants in a single day on the southwest border, nearly 11,000 of whom are migrants who crossed the border illegally between ports of entry, Department of Homeland Security officials said.” (read more)

Pay close attention.  Understand what it means when a toxic abuser changes the tone, speaks softly and begins to emote sympathy.  This shift is the precursor to the manifestation of extreme danger.

They, like we, see the bubbles in the milk….

They, like we, know the scale of ramification.

However, no-one really knows how bad “the bad” is likely to be.  Not in detail they don’t, they just know the situation is about to get extremely serious.

There has been no vetting, no assimilation effort; no establishment of standards, rules or social expectations.  The USA has been modified into one massive social experiment, where the BIG CAT cages have simply been opened in the zoo, and our national leadership is sitting in the watchtower waiting to see what happens.   That’s the metaphor.

There is no aspect to this where regret will come into place; and the sense of foreboding is so extreme that someone can be sent back into the zoo to close the cage doors.  What happens next is going to happen without impediment, choice or option.  This is our reality.

Act, prepare, or be acted upon without preparation. This is the reality of our situation.

The first rule in smart preparation is never to tell anyone you are preparing.  You go about doing the necessary things to prepare in such a manner as they are invisible to all except those closest to you.  Your children should not even notice what is happening.

Your plan should have been thought about carefully, over weeks of reflection, analysis, risk contemplation and discussion.  You should have thought carefully and methodically about every facet of your circumstance.  You should be deep in the preparatory process in such a prudent manner that no one in your orbit has any concept of the scale of preparation you have undertaken.

Large, urban population centers, metropolitan areas, are like the deer enclosure.  Evaluate accordingly.

In this graphic I literally took a screenshot of a recent media news report and overlaid the common safety rules for a safari in the box at the bottom of the screen shot.  The rules for carjack prevention are analogous with safety rules in the safari.  This is not coincidental, both involve predators.

Again, the total illegal alien population in our midst now easily exceeds 50,000,000…. Go ahead and debate the percentage of predators therein, it’s an esoteric exercise without value akin to discussing whether the Hurricane arriving tomorrow will hit you as a Cat-4 or Cat-5.   Sure, CNN is waxing philosophically about the nuance between the differences, but the shit is about to get real on your house, YOUR HOUSE, and CNN ain’t there.

We are beyond the “if” now.  We are evaluating and estimating the “when.”

Three years ago, when I mentioned that price inflation was going to come in like a building tidal wave it was not difficult to understand because all of the datapoints made it certain that only one very specific narrow economic path could be the outcome of a large change in multifaceted policy.  There were dozens of aligned inputs, but only one predictable outcome.   This situation with 200,000+ unvetted monthly arrivals is exactly like that.

Entire sectors like housing, education, healthcare, social services, transportation, infrastructure, law enforcement, public order… LOCALLY FOLKS, like in your back yard depending on your proximity to the cage doors….. are going to be stressed to the point of failure.   Your entire concept of “safety and security” needs to be re-evaluated.

MEN, I’m talking directly to YOU now.  Get fit, get protective, get your collars ready, get yourself moving, get your mind in focus.  Do it quietly, and in those moments when you have those thoughts that you keep to yourself… you know what I am talking about…. start using those exact moments to think about all the skills your grandfather and father made sure your DNA carried.   You don’t need to tell “them” what you are thinking, planning, organizing.  “They” don’t need to know.  Just shut up and do it.

♦ These SAF threads are for you.  For us to understand the scale and scope of any civic unrest that might be happening.  Your comments are the point of the SAF posts.  It is a safe conversation.  A simple state and area are all that is needed for sharing, ie, central Mississippi, Virginia southern coast, etc. No need to get specific, just ground reports with general proximity identified.

Additionally, if you have general advice, suggestions, thoughts or plans that you have put into place and feel may benefit the audience, feel free to share your advice and suggestions.   Again, this is a conversation.

Remember, the purpose here is three-fold.  One – so we have an understanding of what is happening.  Two – so we can share and counsel with best ideas and suggestions.  Three – so that we realize we are not alone.

Misplaced action, regardless of intent, is not prudent or wise. We will not despair; that is not living our best life.  Instead, we accept things as they are, make adjustments to the things we can control and adjust, hold faith in a loving God, take deliberate action to retain our place of balance and peace, all while remaining steadfast to our core values.

We are wide-eyed and awake to the constructs that surround us.

We are steadfast, resolute and resolved to the task at hand.

As Winston Churchill said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going,”… as long as we don’t stop, we succeed.

Never relent. Never give in. Never give up.

Think like you are the third monkey on the ramp to Noah’s ark, and yes, it’s starting to rain.

Joe Biden's Southern Border Is in Chaos, and It's Going to Cost the U.S. Billions

Joe Cunningham reporting for RedState

It's no secret that our southern border is in nothing less than disarray, and the blame can be squarely placed on the Biden administration's rhetoric and policies.

It's gotten so bad states along the border are having to take extraordinary actions to combat the problem. Governor Greg Abbott of Texas has signed a law authorizing law enforcement to arrest illegal immigrants and even Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs of Arizona has tapped the National Guard to help control the problem.

Arizona Dem Gov. Katie Hobbs Pulls the Trigger, Orders National Guard to Secure Border

The Biden administration has actively opposed efforts in those states to stymie illegal immigration, ordering Arizona to remove shipping container walls and actively sabotaging deterrents in Texas. The administration's rhetoric has also been extremely unhelpful, with Karine Jean-Pierre's latest word salad on the issue being proof they can't even describe what in the hell they've actually done.

Today, Axios is out with a piece that describes the consequences of the only tactic the country has left to make an immediate change: Closing the border.

Yes, but: There is evidence that even partial closures can have devastating consequences.

  • After railway operations in Eagle Pass and El Paso, Texas, were temporarily suspended this month to send officers to process migrants, businesses reported a drop in traffic and damage to local economies.
  • Eagle Pass and El Paso account for $33.95 billion annually in trade — just shy of 36% of all cross-border rail traffic to and from Mexico, according to the Texas Association of Business.
  • "This is a short-sighted, half-baked decision that will not make a dent in illegal migration but will cause economic harm to everyday Americans," Texas Association of Business president and CEO Glenn Hamer said in a statement.
  • It’s unclear when operations in Eagle Pass and El Paso will open again.

Now, this piece is written in response to Republicans - and, in particular, Donald Trump - talking about closing the border. That billions of extra dollars it could cost the U.S. economy, however, wouldn't be on the Republicans who closed the border but on the Democrats who let it deteriorate to the point that we have to.

The Democrats have long done this, though. They let a problem fester and rot to the point that it's almost entirely worthless, only to point out how devastating it would be if Republicans attempted any of their "fixes." Let social security get insolvent, then attack Republicans as trying to take away benefits if they seek to fix it. Reduce the size and scope of the military to make us less safe, then attack Republicans for wanting to spend too much on the military. Enforce roughly zero (0) laws regarding illegal immigration, then attack Republicans as racist and xenophobic - and apparently as colossal wasters of money for trying to fix it.

But the problem isn't how much it would cost our economy if we closed down the border. The problem is that it almost seems as though we have no border at this time. Our border cities and states are being overrun, and it's causing worse damage than a few billion in economic impact.

The mass influx of undocumented people isn't the only problem. It's the cartels using the crisis to flood our streets with fentanyl and other drugs. It's the gang violence going on along the border. It's the guns coming into the country. There are so many issues that we can't control when we aren't controlling our own border.

So, when it comes time for a Republican to take over the White House, we'll have few options other than to shut down some of these major ports of entry, even if it hurts us economically. But that's the price we'll have to pay because Democrats let the problem fester for so long. And we shouldn't let them forget that.

By Trying To Keep Trump Off The Ballot, Democrats Are Staging A Coup In Broad Daylight

If they get away with it, we’ll have democracy as it is in Iran or Russia, where only regime-approved candidates can appear on the ballot.

If it wasn’t obvious before now that the left will do anything to stop Donald Trump from winning a second term in the White House, the events of the last few days should leave no doubt in any American’s mind. Democrats, including President Biden, are prepared not only to rig the 2024 election in broad daylight but also to twist the U.S. Constitution and undermine the republic so they can hold on to power.

As most everyone knows by now, an infamous 4-3 majority of the Colorado Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that voters in their state will not be allowed to cast a ballot for Trump in next year’s presidential election. The court’s outlandish claim is that Trump is ineligible to appear on the ballot because Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says candidates who have “engaged in insurrection” are prohibited from holding public office.

According to the court, which is dominated by left-wing ideologues appointed by Democrat governors (all the judges on the Colorado Supreme Court are Democrats, some are just more radical than others), Trump meets this definition because he “incited” a riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Never mind that Trump has yet to be convicted of a crime associated with Jan. 6 (or any crime for that matter) or that the 14th Amendment doesn’t include the president or vice president in a list of offices to which its Section 3 provision applies. For the leftists on the Colorado Supreme Court, it’s enough to declare Trump an insurrectionist and viola! He’s off the ballot — all in the name of “defending democracy.”

David French called it a “bold, courageous decision,” but setting aside the constitutional/legal debate, consider what it means practically. About 1.4 million Coloradans voted for Trump in 2020. All those voters, if they want to vote for Trump again this time, have been disenfranchised by the court. That’s bad enough, but the left’s strategy here is larger than just one state. Before the ink was dry on the Colorado ruling, California Democrats leapt into action. The lieutenant governor, Eleni Kounalakis, sent a letter to Secretary of State Shirley Weber asking her to “explore every legal option to remove former President Donald Trump from California’s 2024 presidential primary ballot.”

Meanwhile, Special Counsel Jack Smith, who is prosecuting Trump for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 riot, this week asked the U.S. Supreme Court to step in and rule on the case before the lower court issues a ruling. As Byron York noted, Smith’s frantic brief doesn’t state the obvious: “He’s rushing to try Trump so Trump can be convicted and jailed before the election.”

Plenty of smart people have pointed out the glaring problems with the Colorado Supreme Court’s interpretation of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Namely, it stipulates Congress must establish a procedure for barring someone from office for engaging in insurrection, which Congress did, twice, first in 1870 and again in 1948. In the latter instance, Congress created a criminal insurrection law, 18 U.S.C. § 2383, which is the enforcement mechanism for Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. The key point here is that Trump has not been charged or convicted under that statute, which means the U.S. Supreme Court will almost certainly overturn the Colorado Supreme Court’s garbage ruling.

But set aside the legal fight because it doesn’t matter to the left. For Biden and the Democrats, this isn’t really a question of what the Constitution does or doesn’t say. This is a question of power and how far they will go to keep it. From the politicized court ruling in Colorado to the four criminal indictments against Trump amounting to 91 felony charges to Biden’s statement last November that he’ll use the Constitution to ensure that Trump “will not take power” and will not “become the next president,” what we have amounts to an open conspiracy to rig the 2024 election by preventing voters from casting a ballot for the likely GOP nominee.

It’s not too much to call this a coup or a color revolution. If Democrats get away with this, we won’t be able to say we have a republic anymore for the simple reason that we won’t have anything like free and fair elections. Democracy in America will be reduced to something like Democracy in Iran or Russia, where only regime-approved candidates are allowed to appear on the ballot.

And don’t think this will end if the U.S. Supreme Court strikes down the Colorado decision. The Democrats will see it as a mere setback, not a defeat — and certainly not a deterrent. When they say, as they have been quite often lately, that Trump will never leave office if he wins next November, or that 2024 will be our last election ever if Trump prevails, they’re really talking about themselves. What they say Trump will do if he becomes president again is what they’re doing right now, before a watching world.
