Donald Trump Is Ready to Protect Airports at a Time When the Democrats Aren’t Even Trying

With TSA strained and security faltering during the shutdown, Donald Trump pushes to deploy ICE agents to restore order at America’s airports.

We are now five weeks into the ongoing partial government shutdown. With it has come chaos for our law enforcement agents nationwide, as well as agencies such as FEMA and the Coast Guard.

But the biggest crunch is undoubtedly coming through in the airports. The Transportation Security Administration is highly affected by the shutdown, with nearly 50,000 employees working for weeks without pay. It has even gotten to the point that some agents have called in sick or quit entirely, seeking a new line of work.

As a result of this, wait times at airports have grown to catastrophic heights. And without major security on duty, there’s the possibility that threats could easily slip through.

But Trump has seen enough and is stepping up at a time when bothersome Democrats refuse to do so.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump laid out his latest plan to send Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to airports to work as security. And they are definitely needed now more than ever.

“I look forward to moving ICE on Monday, and have already told them to ‘GET READY,’” he noted. “NO MORE WAITING, NO MORE GAMES!”

He continued, belittling the very representatives who have put so many Americans out of work with this unnecessary shutdown. “If the Radical Left Democrats don’t immediately sign an agreement to let our Country, in particular, our Airports, be FREE and SAFE again, I will move our brilliant and patriotic ICE agents to the Airports where they will do Security like no one has ever seen before.”

He also noted that with the move, ICE agents would be tasked with “the immediate arrest of all Illegal Immigrants who have come into our Country, with heavy emphasis on those from Somalia.”

Democrats have been sticking to their guns throughout this whole standoff, essentially blaming the Department of Homeland Security for having strict immigration enforcement policies—policies, they believe, that wreaked havoc in Minnesota and caused the death of two American citizens. (Of course, we all know what really happened with those two victims—they attempted to attack ICE agents, acting on principles thrust upon them by wrongful social media posts.)

Because of their stubborn ways, the TSA has already changed for the worse. Reports indicate that the agency has lost 366 security officers since the shutdown began. And what’s worse, absences are also at an all-time high, with the Houston Hobby International Airport seeing a massive 55 percent callout on March 14 alone.

These agents are tired. And the thought that they are continuing to work unpaid—practically doing volunteer work because they feel they are doing the right thing—is heartbreaking. The Democrats argue that the choices they’re making in this standoff are for the greater good of the American citizens. But do they even see the harm they’re doing by not forming some level of agreement?

The Coast Guard is in shambles at a time when we have illegal immigrants practically clawing to get into this country. That, paired with what’s happening with the TSA, puts our country at great risk.

Even Trump made note of this. “What (the Democrats) have done to the Department of Homeland Security, our fantastic TSA officers, and, most importantly, the great people of our Country, is an absolute disgrace.”

So, naturally, Trump has to do it himself.

Many can throw their complaints around all they want about ICE’s effectiveness (though the actual numbers don’t lie), but airports need security right now. Bottom line. Citizens want to feel safe flying to wherever they’re going. And they shouldn’t be threatened by stubborn Democrats in the hopes of doing so.

I wish these agents well with this role and hope it’s just a temporary one, as we need to reach an agreement to bring our country back to full strength. Enough with the ongoing arguments. Let’s come together and agree that defending our hard-working American people should come first.
