Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz had some uncharacteristically useful comments on CNN this week. Asked on Tuesday by Anderson Cooper about a recent meeting he had with Trump Border Czar Tom Homan in relation to immigration law enforcement in Minneapolis, Walz said, “There was a tone shift. I wish it was because of the horrific shooting, that somebody saw some morality. But I think it’s probably the press.”
What Walz meant was that any changes President Trump is directing on law enforcement in the city is likely due to pressure from the news media, meaning the hysterical coverage on cable news, online, and in newspapers. You know, the media that fully intends to stop Trump’s mass deportation of illegal aliens, the thing he promised to do when elected.
It’s one thing for Trump to engage in a “tone shift.” He’s certainly done that, telling Minnesota Democrats in the state that the deportation operation “all goes away” if they simply hand over “criminals.” But if he’s going to cave in any way on his mandate to deport the millions of foreigners who continue breaking the laws of this country, he might as well rename Kamala Harris the president’s border czar, with CNN’s wombat Brian Stelter second in command of immigration policy.
It’s gotten ugly in Minneapolis, no doubt. Two anti-ICE agitators have died, a suspected illegal alien accused of violently resisting arrest was shot in the leg, and federal agents are constantly under threat of assault by angry mobs attempting to thwart law enforcement. Yet, none of it merits a reconsideration of Trump’s promise to deport non-citizens and aliens with “legal status” who were permitted by Democrats into the U.S., but who were deemed unwanted by a majority of voters in the last election.
Protests are protected by the First Amendment, no matter how anti-American they may be. Rioting and endangering others as a form of resisting law enforcement and opposing the results of an election are not.
I’m not the first to draw a parallel to 2020, when the media ginned up nationwide mania by spending months spreading lies that cops were gunning down innocent black people and that a highly contagious virus was only continuing to spread death because Trump wasn’t “following the science” (i.e., he wasn’t doing exactly what Democrats told him to do every second of the day).
It was all for the purpose of halting his agenda, pushing the country into a state of borderline catastrophic unrest, and ultimately rigging an election on behalf of Democrats. That was the role the media assumed then, and it’s the one they’re taking on now, their treachery zealously fomented by Tim Walz and Democrat Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.
It worked to stunning effect six years ago. It remains to be seen whether Trump will allow himself and the whole nation to be a victim of it again.
