The left has gone way off the rails with their anti-ICE actions.
Even after attacks on ICE facilities that have left people dead, you still have radical anti-ICE crews wreaking havoc in places like New York City, trying to stop ICE from carrying out its mission.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has made it clear: the radicals aren't going to stop them.
Apparently, the radicals heard that the federal agents might be conducting another operation on Canal Street, an area ICE has hit in the past. So about 150 people tried to block agents from getting out of a garage of a federal building, and the agents had to call 911 to have the NYPD help them get out.
In the following video, you can watch about 10 minutes of the radical leftists chasing down government vans, standing in front of them, pulling all kinds of things into the street to block the vans, from heavy planters to metal garbage cans. Police had to keep shoving them out of the way. Then, at about 10 minutes in, you can see them blocking the garage and not letting the federal agents out. They chanted, "ICE out of NY!" and "NYPD, KKK!"
Warning for graphic language:
Some were spotted trying to climb the garage’s grated windows – only to be dragged off by cops – while others chanted “ICE out of New York! ICE out now!”
“There were people climbing up trying to see who ICE had inside,” recalled one protestor. “They were arresting people for no reason.”
Some overly agitated protestors lifted and threw planters and police barricades toward police, sources said.
Yeah, I'm thinking that if you were climbing up the walls, shoving a police officer, or throwing things at them, that just might constitute a "reason." Incredible that they think they're justified in doing anything they like. They had garbage all over the street, which they pulled from both a dumpster and the sidewalks, and weren't just blocking the police and ICE, but also other people as well. You can check out this link on X, where you can see the big trash blockade they erected in the middle of the street.
But ultimately despite their efforts they failed, and the vans got through despite their efforts.
Then, too, some of them found out that actions have consequences when they got pepper-sprayed. Cops also nailed at least 18 of them. They were arrested for obstructing government administration and disorderly conduct after allegedly ignoring multiple warnings to clear the area.
What needs to happen is holding these people accountable with some real punishment if they were obstructing.
But how messed up is New York City now? The NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch reportedly yelled at DHS officials and blamed them for the chaos. She supposedly told their officials that this is "unacceptable."
Yes, it is unacceptable. But it's the radicals' actions that are unacceptable, not the actions of DHS. Where is the action by New York City to deal with the activists? If this is going to be the attitude going forward for New York, they will have far more problems than they do now
