Biden’s Border Catastrophe Is About Much More Than Illegal Immigration

As President Joe Biden throws up his hands and claims the ongoing catastrophe at the border is the work of Republicans, polling continues to show the issue of illegal immigration could sink his re-election chances. This is particularly true in the 2024 race against former President Donald Trump, who has been telling the truth about the issue since 2015 and implemented a number of executive orders to blunt the problem. 

But what Biden doesn't want to acknowledge is the true cost of illegal immigration, and currently, Democratic mayors are telling him all about it — while also bizarrely blaming border state governors, who oppose sanctuary cities. 

"New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced major cuts to the city's budget for the next year and a half, saying that cuts across all agencies were necessary with the city having spent $1.45 billion on the migrant crisis this year," Fox 5 reported in November 2023. 

"All of our cities have reached a point where we are either close to capacity, or nearly out of room. Without significant intervention from the federal government, this mission will not be sustained," Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson said in December. "The City is making additional requests of the State of Illinois and Cook County governments to assist with resources and beds to prevent new arrivals from sleeping outdoors in inclement winter weather."

American kids in both sanctuary cities have been kicked out of their schools and off of their sports fields in favor of housing illegal immigrants. What kinds of people are local jurisdictions bending over backward to accommodate? This week in New York City, we found out. 

"A group of eight migrants accused of pummeling a pair of cops in a caught-on-camera Midtown attack are 'cowards' who 'should be sitting on Rikers Island,' a top NYPD official says," the New York Daily News reports. "One of the suspects took a defiant posture Wednesday, flashing two middle fingers after being arraigned in court. All five young men taken into custody so far for the Saturday night brawl outside a migrant shelter on W. 42nd St. near Seventh Ave. have been released without bail — enflaming the already heated debate surrounding the city's migrant crisis."

Illegal immigration isn't simply an issue of letting people into the country without paperwork. Cold hard reality proves it's about resources. The current influx is overwhelming taxpayer-funded homeless shelters, schools, healthcare systems, law enforcement, local facilities and much more. The costs are unsustainable and will destroy entire sectors of service and the economy. 

"A Denver hospital system told the city Monday it faces unprecedented challenges due to the ongoing migrant crisis. Denver Health CEO Donna Lynne warned the center is in a crucial moment due to unexpected costs associated with immigrant visits," ABC15 News in Denver reports, warning the healthcare system is on the brink of collapse. "Eight thousand migrants from Central America accounted for approximately 20,000 visits in 2023. Denver Health asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide funds for immigrants' medical costs. The state and federal governments aren't reimbursing the hospital, which spent $136 million for patients who didn't pay."

These are the reasons why "illegal immigration" is now a top issue for 2024 voters. The onslaught negatively affects significant sectors of American life, and they're being completely overrun. Biden either remains in denial about this fact, or he's fine with foisting these hardships onto American communities across the country. He has the power to make it stop through executive action, interior enforcement of current immigration laws and deportation. He's chosen to do nothing and allow the onslaught to continue.

Is America Already A Dead Country?

If you had made a list of all the actions a “president” could take to destroy the United States of America, it would include almost everything Joe Biden has done since moving into the White House. Biden’s “success” in wrecking this country is helped by a Republican party filled with too many RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) and not enough America First Patriots.

Our republic’s Founding Fathers, all men of strong Christian faith who believed in Judeo-Christian values and limited government, would be aghast to see what has become of our country.

Many political observers think 2024 is our last opportunity to save the republic. Bernie Marcus, Home Depot co-founder and a staunch Donald Trump supporter, said on Larry Kudlow’s Fox News Business program:

But the truth of the matter is that if we don’t change the government in this next ‘24 election, this country is dead. I’ve never said that before. I don’t see any way out.

Will Donald Trump stop the Democrat party from spreading its socialist tentacles, or is America already like Dr. Malcolm Crowe?

In the 1999 film The Sixth Sense, child psychologist Malcolm Crowe, played by Bruce Willis, is seriously injured after he and his wife (Olivia Williams) arrive home late in the evening. Several hours earlier, he had proudly received a prestigious award, but an ex-patient lurked in the darkness of their upscale Philadelphia house, waiting to viciously attack and shoot his former doctor. However, the treatment requires much time, which means his homelife suffers.

Finally, the boy confides why he is so distressed. With that confession he starts to improve, and Malcolm knows he urgently must salvage his marriage.

But helping the child took a huge toll on Malcolm’s marriage. One night, he walks into his home to find his beloved wife asleep in the living room, where she had been watching their joyous wedding video. As the tape highlights the happy occasion, her hand slips open, and Malcolm’s wedding ring falls to the floor.

Puzzled, Malcolm looks at his hand. Why isn’t his wedding ring on his hand?

Suddenly, Dr. Malcolm Crowe realizes the answer...

He is already dead, but just didn’t know it!

That realization consistently led to a loud, collective gasp in theaters.

As it turned out, when Cole whispered to the doctor, “I see dead people,” he was also trying to help Malcolm even more than Malcolm was trying to help him.

Could the United States of America be Malcolm Crowe, murdered by a fraudulent 2020 election? Or will Donald Trump in November 2024 make it a “Normandy”-like election that saves our constitutional republic?

Pundits and historians share that the average lifespan of an empire is 250 years. America celebrated her 247th birthday in July.

In 1999, Alan Wolfe, currently a Boston University political scientist, authored “One Nation, After All”. After hundreds of interviews with Americans across the country, he concluded that the division at the turn of the last century was not strong enough to tear our nation apart.

However, today, Wolfe feels very differently. In July 2023, Wolfe said:

I really feel like we are becoming two different countries, if not that it has already happened. I don’t like it, but I don’t see what we have in common anymore. I really don’t.

The Democrat party’s open southern border has allowed millions of able-bodied, unvetted young men into the United States. Is a terrorist attack coming? The porous border was the number one issue for New Hampshire primary voters—and New Hampshire is quite a distance from the southern border. It was also top of mind for Iowa’s voters, another state far from Mexico.

Let’s assume 7 million unvetted illegal alien invaders have waltzed into our country since January 2021. If just one-quarter of 1 percent have malicious intent to do us harm, that would be 17,500 people, all of whom are scattered across the United States, with many receiving free housing, free medical, free education, free driver’s licenses, free iPhones and, in some cases, free ballots. It is estimated that the United States government has so far spent more than a whopping $450 billion on these illegal invaders.

Think what ONE person can do when they go on a murderous rampage at a school, shopping mall, or Las Vegas hotel, and then multiply that by the possibility of thousands of terrorists waiting to cause injury, death, and havoc from sea to shining sea.

The threats that come from the other side of the border are very much consuming all 56 of our field offices, not just in the border states.

Currently, we are two distinct nations under one flag, highlighted by what is happening in Texas. Donald Trump is the President of the United Red States of America. Joe “Dementia” Biden is President of the United Blue States of America. Trump believes in capitalism, the free market, and the Constitution, while Biden and his puppeteers promote socialism and everything that flows from it.

This can’t continue indefinitely.

In November 2024, the party of Abraham Lincoln must take a strong majority in both Houses of Congress and gain the White House with Donald Trump. (Nikki Haley is just a stooge for the Uniparty). Otherwise, the republic that was fought for and won in 1776, 1812, and 1861 will not survive. As Gary Bauer of American Values wrote on November 1:

If progressives ever get a working majority in Congress along with the White House, we will lose our freedom of religion, our freedom of speech and virtually every right we have.

In ten months, Donald Trump gives us a final chance to save the United States of America from tyranny…unless the country is already like Dr. Malcolm Crowe.

Speaker Johnson Says What We Are All Thinking: Joe Biden Isn't the Guy in Charge

On Friday, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mike Johnson (R-LA) mused about the possibility of something that is becoming more and more apparent with each passing day:

Joe Biden isn't the guy in charge in Washington.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) speculated Friday that President Biden’s staff is keeping him from taking executive action to stem the flow of migrants on the southern border.

“He knows that he has the authority. We’ve documented it for him. I’ve read to him the law myself — to the president. Read him the provisions of the law and said, ‘Mr. President, please take action,’” Johnson said on Fox Business on Friday morning.

“I don’t think he’s allowed to do it. I’m not sure Joe Biden is actually making these decisions. I think it’s staff around him, and they’re pushing him to hold the — or to keep the border open,” Johnson said.

Whoever is making these policy decisions, it's obvious they don't have the best interests of Americans at heart.

Speaker Johnson blames the policies on "staff around him," although I've speculated in the past that Jill Biden is enjoying playing Edith Wilson to Joe's Woodrow. But whoever is pulling these strings on the ever-more-impaired President is claiming that the Chief Executive, somehow, lacks the power to execute.

The White House has disputed that Biden can do more through executive authority and accused the Speaker of resisting the Senate border deal and pushing for executive actions — despite previously calling for enactment of other border legislation — for political reasons. Former President Trump has urged Republicans, and Johnson specifically, to reject the Senate border deal.

The President, as the head of the Executive Branch, has the primary responsibility for control of our nation's borders. In this, the Biden Administration has failed so completely, so utterly, so inexcusably, that the states themselves are throwing their own forces into the breach.

As is so often the case, there's an elephant in the room here, and that is that Joe Biden is not fit to serve as President, and has not been for some time. (If you ask me, he never was, but that's another story.) His deterioration, both mental and physical, is becoming more apparent and more worrisome at every appearance, every time he speaks, every time he answers a question. 

The Mayo Clinic lists signs of dementia as including such things as memory loss, problems with word-finding, trouble planning and organizing, poor coordination and control of movements, confusion and deterioration, anxiety, agitation, and inappropriate behavior. The President has presented all of these symptoms in recent weeks. His inability to come to grips with any serious problem is allowing these unknown string-pullers to tacitly approve an invasion across our southern border, while our enemies are emboldened by the President's weakness.

This is precisely the situation that the 25th Amendment was intended to address.

It's been a long time since a President put the nation's interests ahead of his own. Whoever is pulling President Biden's strings, be it the First Lady or parties unknown, certainly is not; what they are doing is putting the country in actual no-s**t danger by allowing this "Weekend at Bernie's" Presidency to continue. And it's more difficult all the time to see how the situation at our southern border can wait for the next President before something is done.

Another Biden Family Member Is Coming Before the House Oversight Committee

February is here, and this short month looks to be a busy one for the House Oversight Committee. We learned weeks ago that Hunter Biden will indeed appear for closed-door testimony on February 28, after Chairman James Comer (R-KY) and House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) came to an agreement with his attorney, Abbe Lowell. Before then, though, another Biden relative will be testifying: President Joe Biden's brother, James Biden. 

As the Committee announced on Wednesday, James Biden will be testifying on February 21.

James Biden's name has been referenced in testimony from other witnesses close to the Biden family, including Rob Walker. According to takeaways from that testimony, James Biden had asked to receive payments as part of a deal with a Chinese government-linked entity of CEFC.

As we covered last week:

Walker's name has come up before in investigating the Biden family business dealings with regards to his company, Robinson Walker, LLC. That $3 million payment that was received by the LLC was referenced in a memo from the House Oversight Committee last March, as Townhall covered at the time. The memo explained how over $1 million was then wired to James Gilliar, another family associate. Biden family members, including Hallie Biden and companies associated with Hunter and James Biden, then received payments.

Walker testified that he was told by Hunter Biden to send payments to his sister-in-law and uncle even though they did not work for the CEFC entity. James Biden also wanted part of the entity money even though he wasn't even involved in the deal. The source describes it as "[m]ore evidence that the Bidens’ influence peddling appears to be a Biden family enrichment scheme."

The Committee also shared coverage from The New York Post pointing to a different interest for the first brother, as Joey Langston, a disbarred Mississippi attorney who served time for bribery chargers, shared that he loaned James Biden $800,000, but was only paid back $400,000. The loans, which he said he does not have documentation or a record of, were made in 2016 and 2017, and possibly at other points. 

The report also mentions how James Biden was associated with alleged co-conspirator Mississippi attorney Dickie Scruggs. "Amid the bribery conspiracy, James Biden, who was not charged in the case, was in talks with Scruggs and conspirator Tim Balducci about setting up a law firm that would have employed himself, his nephew Hunter Biden and James’ wife, Sara," the report mentioned. 

Matt also covered the bribery probe into James Biden last month, with the FBI secretly taping him over his DC consulting firm. 

The House Oversight and House Judiciary Committees announced on Thursday that they have also requested Lanette Phillips appear for transcribed testimony.

Phillips' name has come up in testimony from another person connected to the Biden family. Kevin Morris, a friend, "sugar brother," and lawyer to Hunter Biden testified last month that Phillips introduced him to Hunter at a fundraiser event for now President Biden in November 2019. Phillips had also introduced Hunter to art dealer Georges Bergès. 

House Judiciary Committee Subpoenas Fani Willis Over Alleged Misuse Of Federal Grant Funds

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan subpoenaed Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over documents detailing her office’s alleged misuse of federal grant funds.

The congressional writ comes amid reports that Willis fired a whistleblower less than two months after the employee warned the Georgia prosecutor about misconduct.

Former Fulton County DA Staffer Amanda Timpson complained in audio obtained by the Washington Free Beacon that Willis campaign aide Michael Cuffee planned to use some of the $488,000 federal money their office received for the creation of a Center of Youth Empowerment and Gang Prevention on “MacBooks,” “swag,” and “travel.” She said she warned Cuffee that the grants were “very, very specific,” but he said the abuse of funds was Willis’s “vision.”

“He wanted to do things with grants that were impossible, and I kept telling him, like, ‘We can’t do that,’” Timpson told Willis during a November 2021 meeting about Cuffee’s decision to demote her.

Willis told Timpson, “I respect that is your assessment” and “I’m not saying that your assessment is wrong,” but had the whistleblower escorted “out of her office by seven armed investigators” weeks after.

In a Feb. 2 letter accompanying the subpoena, Jordan confirmed that congressional oversight on Willis’ office’s use of taxpayer dollars “is particularly relevant in light of public whistleblower allegations that it has misused federal funding.

“These allegations raise serious concerns about whether you were appropriately supervising the expenditure of federal grant funding allocated to your office and whether you took actions to conceal your office’s unlawful use of federal funds,” he wrote.

The House Judiciary Committee sent three letters in August, September, and December 2023 to Willis demanding documents outlining how her office spent federal funds. Willis openly flouted the committee’s request and accused Jordan of trying “to obstruct a Georgia criminal proceeding and to advance outrageous partisan misrepresentations.”

Jordan retorted by noting that Congress “has jurisdiction to conduct oversight of matters concerning DOJ grant programs and criminal justice to inform potential legislative reforms,” including grants district attorneys’ offices receive from the Department of Justice. He suggested the body may want to enact legislation to prevent such abuses in the future.

The House Judiciary Committee remains committed to uncovering Willis’ use of federal funds in her lawfare case against former President Donald Trump, but Jordan says the “recently disclosed whistleblower allegations” mean the committee is “prioritizing the production of documents concerning your office’s receipt and use of federal funds.”

The subpoena and accompanying letter also follow news that a bipartisan committee of Georgia legislators will investigate Willis’ allegedly inappropriate romantic relationship with private attorney Nathan Wade whom she contracted out as a special prosecutor on her “get Trump” case. Documents suggest Wade used $654,000 taxpayer-funded legal fees he earned on the case against the Republican frontrunner to fund “lavish vacations” for him and Willis.

Support for Biden Re-Election Worst of Any President in 32 Years, Most Voters Want Him Gone

In further proof that it's growing more likely that the Democrat Party is incapable of saving Joe Biden from himself, the latest Gallup survey found that more than six in 10 voters want the embattled president gone.

That's even worse than Biden's present — as I write — approval rating of 41 percent.

Unsurprisingly, 82 percent of registered Democrat voters believe Biden should be reelected, while just 3 percent of Republican voters think Biden deserves a second term. And in a sign that third-party candidates on the November ballot would hurt Biden more than Trump, just 29 percent of independent voters believe the president deserves another shot.

In January of prior incumbent reelection years, Gallup asked whether former Presidents Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush deserved reelection. The same question was asked about George W. Bush (October 2003) and Barack Obama (December 2011) late in the years before they sought reelection.

Of these, the younger Bush (who won reelection) had the highest reelect figure, at 53%, while two incumbents who lost, Trump at 50% and the elder Bush at 49%, scored just below. Although Biden’s current rating ranks lowest among the readings for the past six presidents, his 38% is most similar to Clinton’s 44% and Obama’s 43%, both of whom won a second term.

Gallup noted that only George H.W. Bush's rating in July 1992 — 32 years ago — was lower than where Biden presently sits. And as I suggested at the top, I don't think there's a damn way the Democrats can save this guy from himself. As I see it, the 2024 presidential election is Donald Trump's to win or lose.

Here's the thing. While virtually everything Biden touches turns to crap, from the border crisis to foreign conflicts to inflation to race relations to his war on oil and even gas home appliances, it a quite another thing that he never takes responsibility for anything he screws up — most if not all it intentionally so.

As I reported earlier Friday, Biden is now blaming out-of-control grocery prices on grocery stores "ripping people off" — and even worse, calling shoppers "suckers." Oh, and also lying, of course. Here's Joe:

Inflation is coming down. It’s now lower in America than any other major economy in the world. The cost of eggs, milk, chicken, gas, and so many other essential items have come down. But for all we’ve done to bring prices down, there are still too many corporations in America ripping people off: price gouging, junk fees, greedflation, shrinkflation.

Maybe Biden was targeting low-information rank-and-file Democrat voters with the above nonsense, but if he thinks voters with even a modicum of intelligence buy it, he's even more delusional than we think. Then again, he was simply reading a speech written by handlers, so there's that.

The Bottom Line

Not only is Joe Biden's presidency an out-of-control dumpster fire; but his chances of re-election are increasing in flames, as well. Toss in his visibly deteriorating mental capacity and as I said, earlier, the November election looks to be Donald Trump's to win or lose — this far out, that is.

Joe Biden Caring About MSNBC’s ‘Morning Joe’ Explains So Much Of His Nightmare Presidency

The national media created the sophomoric storyline that Biden’s presidency put ‘the adults back in charge,’ yet he apparently fixates on a cartoon.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris reportedly have an “obsession” with the most dimwitted show on cable news. Suddenly, it all makes sense. If that’s where the White House is getting its cues from, no wonder we’ve been so terminally screwed.

Axios on Friday said the president is so enamored of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that it “affects how the White House runs — and who Biden listens to.” The report also said Biden “respects” the regular lineup of misfits on “Morning Joe” and he “loves when they applaud his actions.”

For readers familiar with the weekday show, which is probably about three of you, recall that “Morning Joe” is co-hosted by Joe Scarborough, who has long denied claims he killed a female intern working for him when he was a Florida representative in Congress, and his wife, Mika Brzezinski, whom he married after divorcing the mother of his children.

The pair are joined by a rotating cast of mind-numbing talking heads including Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post, Jonathan Lemire of Whoville Politico, and widely recognized fabulist Mike Barnicle. Oh, and Al Sharpton.

Each day, Scarborough, Brzezinski, and their gang of misfits take turns repeating the corniest Democrat talking points, forcing laughs at each other’s attempts at humor, and staring into the camera with the beadiest of dead eyes. Strangely enough, the show maintains of level of influence in Washington, though it hasn’t been worth watching since 2016, when it transitioned from a current affairs talk show to a loop of “I hate anyone who doesn’t hate Donald Trump.”

If you think that’s an overstatement, here’s a sample of the latest offerings from “Morning Joe,” as relayed by the cable news monitoring website Mediaite:

“Joe Scarborough Calls On White House to ‘Let Him Out More’ Following Report Biden Calls Trump a ‘Sick F*ck,'” Feb. 2.

“Long-Time Trump Associate Al Sharpton Insists Trump Is ‘Losing It’: ‘His Mind Is Not There Anymore,'” Feb. 1.

“Joe Scarborough Mocks GOP Border Flip-Flop: ‘Who Are These Cowards That Will Completely Comply With Everything Dear Leader Says?,'” Jan. 30. (“Dear Leader” is Scarborough’s deliciously clever reference to Trump.)

“‘My God Who is Tim Scott?!’ Morning Joe Crew Cannot Contain Absolute Disgust at SC Senator’s Fealty to Trump,” Jan. 24.

It’s funny how the national media created the sophomoric storyline that Biden’s presidency put “the adults back in charge,” yet he apparently fixates on such a cartoon.

Speaking of which, it wasn’t long ago that it was supposed to be a sign of utter ignorance and intellectual vacancy that a president would consider the opinions of cable news hosts. But now that it’s a president that corporate media like— those folx at MSNBC must be real smart!

That Biden hangs on to every useless utterance of “Morning Joe” is the surest indication yet that he hasn’t the faintest idea why he has a lower approval rating than AIDS and polls show him losing to Donald Trump in every single swing state. None of that is to say he’s a solid bet to lose reelection — this is America, after all — but if at any moment you wonder to yourself, “Is he retarded?” just find a random clip of his favorite TV show and you’ll realize he takes his cues from cable news’s most insular, emptyheaded show of all time.

Hilarious Kamala Leak: Former Aide Reveals Criticism by Fox's 'The Five' Is Getting Inside Her Head

The Biden and Harris staffs seem to not be shy about leaking things that may make Joe and Kamala look bad. 

So you have to wonder about how upset their staffs are with them because that's not exactly the way faithful and supportive staff act. 

We've seen how some of their staff has been upset with them over the Israel-Hamas war, and written letters denouncing their policy positions. Then there was the leak about how Biden has a problem with spicy language in private and said some nasty things about former President Donald Trump. That showed how much Trump is in Biden's head and how worried he is about him. 

Now comes word that Kamala Harris might have someone living rent-free in her head, just like Biden has Trump. And who it is is hilarious. 

According to the report, a former aide says she's gotten "high anxiety" from what Fox's "The Five" has been saying about her. 

A former aide to the vice president told Axios that Harris has reeled from the critical commentary by the Fox News personalities, which have included questioning her leadership skills and past relationships.

“It got in her head and caused high anxiety because they were constantly hammering her,” the former aide said.

Last June, “The Five” co-host Greg Gutfeld said the prospect of Harris taking over for Biden as president would be “scary.”

That same month, co-host Jessica Tarlov took issue with fellow panelist Jesse Watters insinuating that Harris’ past romantic relationship with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown was “how she got ahead in politics.”

"The Five" has not been shy about discussing Harris' prior relationship with Brown and making jokes about it. 

We reported earlier how Joe Biden is obsessed with "Morning Joe," has frequently consulted with people on the show, and likes to talk to Scarborough for his take. Now, that's a bad move given how wrong Scarborough often is, but that may be another reason Biden is so often wrong. Then, of course, what does that mean "Morning Joe" is worth for objective opinion on Biden? I don't think anyone thought they were objective, but this makes both sides look worse. It's like a very bad mutual admiration bubble. 

Apparently, Kamala Harris likes the show, too. She and her husband had dinner with Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough last month. It's one thing if it's an opinion person, but another if it's people claiming to be presenting objective news. 

It also says something about her if she can't take the criticism and if it truly is causing her "high anxiety." Biden is already weak and can't take criticism. If Harris gets so upset about jokes from "The Five," it shows she has a pretty brittle personality as well. 

Here's one example of something they reported that probably drove her through the roof because it was about how Joe Biden and "Dr. Jill" didn't want her — they had other choices but caved to the desires of Barack Obama. 

Break out the popcorn, and imagine what "The Five" is likely to say after hearing this new report that she watches them. They are going to have a field day with this. 

The Cynical ‘Biden Doctrine’ Middle East Peace Plan is Dead on Arrival

All Americans should speak out against the so-called Biden Doctrine as a perverse politicization of American foreign policy that could significantly harm a close U.S. ally.

According to a January 31 Axios article and a February 1 New York Times column by Thomas Friedman, the Biden administration is considering a major new Middle East peace initiative to end the Israel/Hamas War by quickly recognizing a fully independent Palestinian state. Friedman calls this “the Biden Doctrine,” which he describes as “big and bold” and potentially “the biggest strategic realignment in the region since the 1979 Camp David treaty.”

The real purpose of this plan is to counter Biden’s sagging poll numbers and growing criticism of his Middle East policy. Although the reported Biden Doctrine has absolutely no chance of being implemented, it could succeed in further isolating Israel.

According to Friedman, the Biden Doctrine is a Middle East peace plan with three parts: (1) a tough U.S. stand on Iran, including robust military retaliation against Iranian proxies; (2) the U.S. will push for recognition now or very soon of a Palestinian state that is demilitarized and led by a reformed Palestinian authority; and (3) a greatly scaled-up U.S. security alliance with Saudi Arabia with the aim of Saudi-Israel normalization if Israel agrees to part 2.

Part 1, a tough U.S. response to Iran and its proxies, is long overdue, but this is empty rhetoric.  Given how weak U.S. responses have been to attacks by Iranian-backed proxies, only a massive U.S. military response has any chance of stopping their attacks. It is hard to believe that President Biden will approve such a response. Moreover, the fact that Biden still has not ordered retaliatory air strikes in response to the January 28 attack on a U.S. base in Jordan that killed three U.S. servicemembers has further eroded his credibility.

Part 2, to promote an independent, demilitarized Palestinian state under the control of a transformed Palestinian Authority, is a complete fantasy. The real purpose of this idea is to salvage Biden’s abysmal Middle East policy and make him look like a peacemaker at home.  Neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis will ever agree to this proposal.

Israeli leaders have made it clear that an independent Palestinian state under the two-state solution is off the table because of security threats in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas terrorist attack.

Max Abrams, a Northeastern University associate professor of political science who specializes in international security and terrorism, had long been an advocate of the two-state solution. After October 7, he explained the Israeli government’s view of the two-state solution when he said, “not all problems are solvable… Hamas has opposed every single two-state-solution peace process, explicitly. It has intentionally used terrorism to derail a two-state solution. And so there is no bargaining space.”

There is also the probability that if free elections were held to elect the leadership of a new, independent Palestinian state, Hamas would win. Israel will not allow this to happen.

But even if Israel was willing to accept Part 2 of the hastily-crafted Biden Doctrine, the Palestinian Authority and Hamas would not. Palestinian leaders have repeatedly rejected peace plans that were far better developed and more generous. The Palestinian Authority and Hamas will never agree to disarm or a demilitarized Palestinian state. The Palestinian Authority’s corrupt officials are also unwilling to reform or give up power. And Hamas has been adamant that it will never give up control of Gaza.

Despite these huge obstacles, the Biden administration is insisting over Israeli objections that an independent Palestinian state under the control of the Palestinian Authority is the only route to peace. According to Axios, some Biden administration officials are considering having the U.S. recognize Palestine as an independent state as a first step to ending the Israel-Hamas War, and this could include allowing the United Nations to admit Palestine as a full U.N. member state. (Palestine currently has observer status in the U.N. without a vote.)

Part 3 of the Biden Doctrine plan is also farfetched. Aside from the fact that Israel will not accept a plan to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia on the condition of an independent Palestinian state, Saudi Arabia will not accept the Biden Doctrine plan because it will probably put Hamas in charge of running this new state. Moreover, given that the Biden Doctrine appears to primarily be a desperate attempt to salvage President Biden’s political fortunes at home, Saudi officials will be very skeptical about this plan.

In addition, because the Biden administration has badly mishandled U.S. relations with Saudi Arabia, Saudi leaders will be reluctant to trust Biden officials in peace talks under this doctrine and probably plan to wait out this administration in the hope that Biden will be replaced by a new and more competent president in January 2025.

The so-called Biden Doctrine is for domestic consumption. It is a grandiose plan that Biden administration media allies like Thomas Friedman, CNN, and MSNBC will use to praise President Biden as an effective and decisive world leader and blame Prime Minister Netanyahu for obstructing Biden’s peace efforts. If implemented, this cynical plan will be a step backward for Middle East peace and will embolden Iran and its terrorist proxies to expand their attacks.

If the Biden administration moves forward with the Biden Doctrine, it will further isolate Israel and damage its global standing. This is a shoddy way for America to treat one of its closest and most important allies, but President Biden has put his animosity toward Prime Minister Netanyahu, radical left views of the Israel-Palestine dispute, and presidential politics ahead of standing with Israel at this desperate time in its history.

All Americans should speak out against the so-called Biden Doctrine as a perverse politicization of American foreign policy that could significantly harm a close U.S. ally. Because this proposal violates the pro-Israeli views of most Members of Congress, a strong bipartisan congressional majority must insist that Biden officials kill this betrayal of Israel ASAP.
