Ten days after a second assassin attempted to permanently remove former President Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential race, United States Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo put out a call to “extinguish him for good.”
“How did we get here? Let’s extinguish him for good,” Raimondo said during her appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.
The former Rhode Island governor was not shy about her reasoning. In fact, she admitted that eliminating the Republican from the race for the White House would pave the way for her preferred candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, to win the 2024 election.
“We have an answer, we have a remarkably talented candidate who is sincere, who’s pragmatic, who’s open — let’s just get it done,” Raimondo said.
MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski tried to throw Raimondo a line to clarify her incendiary comments.
“And extinguish, you mean vote him out?” Brzezinski asked minutes after she claimed repeatedly that Raimondo joined the show “in her personal capacity.”
Raimondo initially took Brzezinski’s bait.
“Yes, just vote him out,” Raimondo said, “so he goes away.”
She then promptly continued her violent rhetoric by demanding Americans “banish [Trump] from American politics,” something Democrats have tried to do via lawfare for years now.
Raimondo’s anti-Trump tirade came shortly after she claimed that the man who recently survived a bullet to the head “just shoots from the hip” and “will bring chaos, unpredictability, and vindictiveness” to the White House if elected again.
“There’s no denying the risks of a Trump presidency,” Brzezinski, who previously referred to Trump as a “sexual predator,” agreed.
Shortly after the first attempted assassin shot Trump at a Butler, Pennsylvania, rally in July, the Democrats and corporate media who ran a years-long assassination prep campaign against the former president pretended that they were eager to tone down their violent rhetoric. President Joe Biden specifically demanded Americans “lower the temperature in our politics.”
Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and now a sitting cabinet member, however, continued to smear Trump, his policies, and his allies as a grave danger to the republic.
Trump warned during the second 2024 presidential debate earlier in September that “I probably took a bullet to the head because of the things that they say about me.”
“They talk about democracy — I’m a ‘threat to democracy.’ They’re the threat to democracy with the fake Russia-Russia-Russia investigation that went nowhere,” Trump said.
The Republican reiterated his concerns about Democrats’ explosive comments one day after authorities arrested Ryan Routh for aiming his scoped SKS rifle at Trump from the bushes of the former president’s West Palm Beach golf course.
“The Rhetoric, Lies, as exemplified by the false statements made by Comrade Kamala Harris during the rigged and highly partisan ABC Debate, and all of the ridiculous lawsuits specifically designed to inflict damage on Joe’s, then Kamala’s, Political Opponent, ME, has taken politics in our Country to a whole new level of Hatred, Abuse, and Distrust,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Because of this Communist Left Rhetoric, the bullets are flying, and it will only get worse!”
Routh attributed rhetoric painting Trump as “unfit to be anything, much less a US president” as motivation for his alleged crime in a bounty letter, which the U.S. Department of Justice released on Monday.
