Things have escalated rather quickly in the 2024 presidential race in the aftermath of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris naming Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her VP running mate on Tuesday.
Fully embracing his role as an attack dog, GOP vice presidential nominee JD Vance has taken the lead - as he should - on questioning why the mainstream press seems okay with Harris' press avoidance strategy and also pointing out how Walz is absolutely the last person who should be front and center in criticizing anyone's background story.
JD Vance Delivers Brutal Mic Drop to Kamala Harris When They Both Arrive at Wisconsin Airport
As we've noted before, Vance is driving the media and the left (but I repeat myself) bonkers, as evidenced by an attack on the Ohio senator by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear that quickly backfired.
At the time, Beshear - who was rumored to be on Harris' list of VP possibilities - was telling anyone who would listen to him how he wanted "the American people to know what a Kentuckian is and what they look like. Because let me just tell you that JD Vance ain't from here."
Vance ended Beshear - and maybe even dashed the Democrat governor's hope of being Harris' running mate - with how he reacted to it.
“Eastern Kentucky will always have a special place in my heart...it’s very weird to have a guy whose first job was at his dad’s law firm and who inherited the governorship from his father criticize my origin story," Vance remarked in response to the criticism.
Walz, too, has jumped on Vance's Appalachia story, proclaiming him to be a fake and the product of a lavish upbringing:
As streiff pointed out, the couch story is the "Big Lie" of this campaign cycle, and one of many that the MSM, predictably, has shown they are willing to overlook. But beyond that, let's look at JD Vance's fire response to Walz's denigration of his background, as reported by my colleague Matt Funicello earlier:
"What bothers me about Tim Walz is the stolen valor garbage. Do not pretend to be something you’re not. And if he wants to criticize me for getting an Ivy League education, I'm proud [...] I was able to make something of myself and I would be ashamed if I was him and I lied about my military service like he did."

The side-by-sides on the two clips say it all:
The VP debate is gonna be lit up, y'all. I mean, unlike in previous years, a lot of people may actually watch this thing. I can't wait.
