A new report from Axios reveals yet more troubling news about Joe Biden’s mental capacity—or lack thereof—and brings even further into question his fitness for what many consider to be the most taxing job in the world.
The answer, as we saw at Thursday night’s debate, is he's not.
The article is titled “Two Joe Bidens: The night America saw the other one,” and contains all the usual fluff about how Biden’s aides report that he is sharp behind closed doors and is operating at this amazingly high intellectual level. Yet there’s one telling section that should scare the pants off voters:
The time of day is important as to which of the two Bidens will appear.
From 10am to 4pm, Biden is dependably engaged — and many of his public events in front of cameras are held within those hours.
Outside of that time range or while traveling abroad, Biden is more likely to have verbal miscues and become fatigued, aides told Axios.
If that tidbit, combined with the debate fiasco, isn’t a wake-up call to the American electorate, I don’t know what is.
The debate took place at 9 p.m. Eastern time, so that could explain why he was so out of it. Democrats are cheering the fact that he appeared much more energetic at a rally the next day—but a president has to be able to operate at any hour. Besides, 51 million people weren’t watching that rally—but they most certainly were watching Thursday night, and they know what they saw.
The report also admits that aides have noticed other signs of decline but mostly have ignored them:
The public split screen isn't new to many inside the White House, where top aides have meticulously stage-managed minutiae such as Biden's sleep schedule, his orthopedic shoes, his walks to Marine One and his climb aboard Air Force One to try to blunt concerns about his age.
Internally, many aides have seen flashes of an absent-minded Biden, but typically brush them off as ordinary brain farts because they usually see him engaged, eight current and former Biden officials told Axios.
Those current and former Biden officials certainly saw way more than “brain farts” out of the president Thursday night.
The debate revealed to the public at large what many of us have been shouting from the rooftops for years: namely, that the man has brain issues and is not fit to run the world’s most powerful nation. This isn’t a personal attack nor an attempt to denigrate his character (I’ll save that for other articles), but it is a fact.
Now that his own aides admit he’s basically useless after 4 p.m., the picture becomes even more concerning.
