Before Joe Biden took office, gas prices for the average motorist were at about $2.42 a gallon. Between Bidenomics, Bidenflation, and Joe’s war on energy, prices under his regime have consistently been about 40 percent higher.
But as the president sees his reelection prospects wane amid disastrous polling, he has a plan—dip into the nation’s strategic petroleum reserves (again) in a transparent ploy to convince the public that he cares about them.
Biden’s latest grand energy plan:
President Joe Biden is prepared to release more oil from the country’s strategic reserves if gas prices increase during the summer. This is the latest plan by the Biden administration to counter higher prices at the pumps and the more expensive prices on various goods due to inflation.
A Biden administration energy adviser suggested gas prices are “still too high” for many in the country and said he favors taking action to “cut them down a little bit further.”
How about you just stop your war on fossil fuels, perhaps that would lower gas prices.
The strategic petroleum reserve was set up for a purpose:
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), the world's largest supply of emergency crude oil was established primarily to reduce the impact of disruptions in supplies of petroleum products and to carry out obligations of the United States under the international energy program.
Notice what is not mentioned as a reason for its creation: “Improving your chances of reelection by an unhappy electorate.”
Biden had lowered the reserves during the midterm elections to its lowest levels since 1983, so he’s used this ruse before—in fact, he’s dipped into the reserves more than any other president before him. Although the administration has gradually been filling it back up, now it’s poised for another drawdown. Republicans called out the naked political use of our reserves during that time:
In a letter sent last month to energy secretary Jennifer Granholm, senior Republican politicians called on the administration to “ensure that the SPR is not abused for political purposes in this election year” and described Biden’s SPR release in 2022 as “a transparent attempt to influence the midterm elections”.
The reserve was not meant to be a tool for presidents to bolster their reelection chances; it was designed to provide for the nation’s energy supply during disruptions such as war or natural disasters. Biden has used it as his own personal toy, and it’s because of his garbled energy policy and extreme push to transfer us to green energy when we’re not ready for it that we’re in this predicament in the first place.
Voters aren’t going to fall for it.
