I Feel Better in Europe

Few of the pathologies that are destroying America are present to any analogous degree in Europe.

This is one of the saddest of the more than 1,000 columns I have written.

I am writing in Budapest after spending four days in Warsaw last week and four days in Munich two weeks before that.

To put this in context: I have traveled abroad every year since I was 18 years old—except for 2020, because of the “experts”-induced destructive, irrational, police-state lockdowns.

Thanks to all that travel, I have visited 130 countries.

All of my life, traveling abroad prompted ever more appreciation of America and ever more gratitude for living here. Every time I returned to the United States, I felt a surge of patriotism when I saw the American flag at passport control.

Something I could never have imagined has happened in the last few years. I have begun to envy Europeans. With few exceptions—most notably the U.K., the one English-speaking country in Europe—few of the pathologies that are destroying America are present to any analogous degree in Europe.

Here is an example: My wife and I and another couple hired a driver and an English-speaking guide in Warsaw. The guide was a woman of the Left. Though we never raised any political subject, like leftists tend to do, she let us know her negative feelings about Poland’s conservative president, Andrzej Duda, Hungary’s conservative prime minister, Viktor Orban, and, of course, America’s former president, Donald Trump. She let us know that she hated all three of them.

But when I asked her if anyone she knew would say that men give birth or that children should choose their own sexes, she gave me a confused look. “Who does that?” she asked.

Europe’s leftists loathe conservatives as much as the Left in America does, are as anti-nationalism, are just as prepared to shatter the economic life of their countries in the name of environmentalism, support ever-growing state and EU power, and supported mandatory COVID vaccinations as much as the American Left. But they are not prepared to tell first graders they can choose their “gender,” remove the healthy breasts of girls who say they are boys, or have “all-gender” (as distinguished from unisex) bathrooms.

Few, if any, European countries are wracked by the trans tensions—such as whether sex is binary, whether children should be exposed to drag queens, and whether they should be given hormone blockers—that are wracking American life. Even England has barred trans women swimmers from competing against women swimmers. As reported by Openly News, an LGBTQ news organization, “Swim England follows similar rulings by World Athletics, Scottish Rugby, FINA, England’s Rugby Football Union and the International Rugby League, all of which have banned trans women who transitioned after puberty from competing in female categories.”

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that a male JetBlue flight attendant wears a skirt while working on flights. That is also the policy of the British-based airline Virgin Atlantic, though I have not seen a photograph of a male Virgin Atlantic flight attendant wearing a skirt as I have a JetBlue flight attendant. And surely other U.S. airlines will follow. Will this take place on board European airplanes? Perhaps. But if you people-watch on the streets of European capitals, let alone in small cities, you will find that far more European women—including young women—dress as women than do women in America.

In other words, no matter how left the politics of European countries, few deny the male-female distinction as much as America does. In fact, in Europe, they appear to value it.

There are other ways in which life in Europe seems less tense than in America. In Munich, Warsaw, and Budapest, I saw virtually no homeless people—and certainly no homeless encampments, no tents pitched on city sidewalks. Nor are children in European countries taught to loathe their own society as American young people are taught. And Europeans still venerate their statues.

Two years ago, even the woke New York Times acknowledged that Europe’s left is different. Under the headline “Will American Ideas Tear France Apart? Some of Its Leaders Think So,” the article began:

The threat is said to be existential. It fuels secessionism. Gnaws at national unity. Abets Islamism. Attacks France’s intellectual and cultural heritage.

The threat? ‘Certain social science theories entirely imported from the United States,’ said President Emmanuel Macron.

French politicians, high-profile intellectuals, and journalists are warning that progressive American ideas—specifically on race, gender, post-colonialism—are undermining their society. ‘There’s a battle to wage against an intellectual matrix from American universities,’ warned Mr. Macron’s education minister.

During the lockdowns in states such as California that were ruining small businesses, the economy in general, and the precious and irretrievable years of children’s youth in particular, I wrote a column about how I, a Californian, felt on a visit to Florida where businesses were open, people ate in restaurants without masks, and my grandchildren attended school and other activities of a normal childhood. I wrote that in Florida, I felt like I did during the Cold War when I returned to the West after spending time in communist countries.

And now, for the first time in my life, I feel freer in Europe than in America.

That’s why this is one of the saddest columns I’ve ever written.

An important PSA for all conservatives:

Nobody is perfect. We're all different. Some of us like to be vocal about what we do, some of us prefer to stay out of trouble and be private. That's all okay.

What's not okay, is trying to pick fights with one another because you're convinced that the person you're talking to is not as perfect as you or prefers to do something with his or her life that you don't agree with! The same goes with trying to make up drama with someone over something stupid.

We're not liberals, let's not reduce ourselves to their loser levels by turning on each other over petty differences and insecurities.

New behind the scenes photos of Paris Christmas Waltz 🌲

While you wait on my report tonight (another important PSA coming up in that), here's some amazing new images from what may turn out to be 1 of my favorite new Christmas movies: https://itsawonderfulmovie.blogspot.com/2023/06/behind-scenes-of-paris-christmas-waltz.html

Bonjour, dear friends!

Yesterday, Great American Family made the official announcement that "Paris Christmas Waltz" is coming to their channel this Christmas season! I know many of us are extra excited about this!

Jen Lilley, along with her co-star, Matthew Morrison, have been practicing their dancing steps for weeks in Bucharest, Romania - leading up to the start of filming this week in Paris!

While I don't usually show a lot of behind-the-scenes shots of Christmas movies while they are filming due to the incredible amount of them out there on social media, I just had to make an exception with this one. Plus, Jen Lilley was so sweet to share my post/link in her IG stories, I simply couldn't resist sharing some delightful on-the-set images.

First, I had to share this screen-grab of Jen Lilley and Matthew Morrison... hamming it up together between filming while discussing the proper way to say the instrument, the ukulele.

Hmmm??? Wonder if someone plays the ukulele in the film?

Jen also couldn't resist showing some of the Christmas set designs, including the adorable Santa Claus statue pictured above. With tears forming in her eyes, she shares how magical all of the Christmas decorations look and how the set designers aren't even done adding to the holiday decor!

While admiring all of the Christmas around her, Jen also shared how close she feels to her character, Emma, who apparently loves Christmas as much as she does!

Also joining Jen Lilley on the "Paris Christmas Waltz" movie set, is the former Home & Family host, Debbie Matenopoulos, who has a role in the movie as Camille. The two shared a fun moment when they filmed their scene together, plus Debbie posted some production shots behind the camera.

In celebration of the movie announcement, fans, friends, and fellow actors, flocked to social media to give their congratulations to Jen Lilley and Matthew Morrison. One fan asked if the two would also be singing a duet, to which Jen replied, "maybe," while adding the smiling face and clapping hands emoji.

My favorite message came from Will Kemp, who performed in the original "Christmas Waltz," which was also written and directed by Michael and Janeen Damian.

Will exclaimed, "Very exciting! Huge congratulations. Send my love to everyone." Then he included some fun emojis... clapping hands, fire, and dancing.

Jen responded with, "@iamwillkemp will do! We love you Will and @thereallacey ❤️"

Of course, Jen Lilley is referring to Lacey Chabert, since Will and Lacey starred together in the original "Christmas Waltz," which was a major ratings hit and fan-favorite. I'm sure both Jen and Matthew know they have big dancing shoes to fill. But, hopefully, they also feel the incredible love and support from their fans who are encouraging them along - as they are filming this new "Paris Christmas Waltz" movie for Great American Family!

I also couldn't resist sharing these extra screen-grabs of Jen and Matthew laughing together behind the scenes! Looks like this is going to be a fun movie!

Happy filming to Jen Lilley, Matthew Morrison, Debbie Matenopoulos, producers Michael and Janeen Damian, and all of the cast and crew involved with the production of "Paris Christmas Waltz"!

What the Candidate Roster for 2024 Tells Us

Since every candidate in 2024 is an anti-Biden candidate, we have reason to be hopeful that the next president will not continue what Biden started.

“A lot of you have been talking tonight about a government healthcare plan you propose in one form or another. This is a show of hands question. Raise your hand if your government plan would provide coverage for undocumented immigrants,” the moderator asked a semi-circle of Democratic candidates. One hand shot up immediately followed by another and then another until candidate Joe Biden’s arm drifted upward.

It was June 2019, almost exactly the same moment in the 2020 election cycle that we now find ourselves as we approach the 2024 election. By the same time the following year, COVID tyranny and the death of George Flloyd would eclipse any memory of this easily overlooked scene. But one can look back to exactly that moment on the debate stage as a physical exhibition of candidates all lurching leftward in response to a single question.

In the years that followed, unknown millions of immigrants streamed into the United States with the tacit approval of the Biden Administration. And, predictably, the cost of the healthcare for the new immigrants has overwhelmed public health budgets. But we can’t say we weren’t warned. Donald Trump was the only serious candidate for president who didn’t publicly endorse taxpayer-funded healthcare for noncitizen immigrants. So any other outcome than a Trump victory would have led to something resembling what we have now.

June 2023, however, looks quite different. Joe Biden has perhaps a half-dozen serious challengers. Within the Democratic primary, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has risen from the liberal wing of his party to challenge the Democrats’ corporate-government alliance that bleats woke to distract from the wars and corruption. Kennedy has some strange ideas. But he’s very thoughtful and intelligent and it’s refreshing to see a Democrat rebel against the one-size-fits-all agenda. He is susceptible to clear-headed arguments and data. The Democrats have reacted by refusing to expose Biden to Kennedy in a debate. Why? The answer is obvious. The DNC has already dictated that Biden should be the nominee and it doesn’t want voters tempted into disobedience.

On the Republican side, we see some of the best candidates ever to take the field.

The frontrunner, former President Trump, has come out of the box with some fresh new ideas. For example, he’s proposed the concept of, “Freedom Cities,” where capitalism could regerminate in small bubbles shielded from excessive government interference and taxation. Earlier this year, Trump triumphed in East Palestine, Ohio, by bringing attention to the shocking indifference of the federal government in the aftermath of a devastating chemical spill. Trump’s record with the economy and international relations contrasts sharply with the chaos of the Biden Administration.

Candidate Ron DeSantis has an impressive record as governor of one of the most successful states in the country. DeSantis has shown the way in resisting COVID tyranny and aggressively racialist bigotry masquerading as “social justice.”

Even the second tier of Republican candidates looks interesting. Vivek Ramaswamy has beautifully articulated a call to return to racially blind meritocracy. His previous experiences at a pharmaceutical company and a hedge fund might cause some concern about his empathy for the plight of working Americans. But we could have said the same thing about Trump in 2016.

Candidate and Senator Tim Scott (R-N.C.) seems passionate about preserving and promoting economic freedom as a means to lift up the poor and middle class. There’s buzz for a Glenn Youngkin candidacy after he pulled off a stunning upset in the Virginia governor’s race by calling attention to the abuse of a public school parent.

In 2020, if you had thrown a dart at a list of viable candidates and told that candidate would be the winner, unless that dart landed next to candidate Trump’s name, we were pretty much destined for what has unfolded during the Biden Administration. There were lots of faces but not many real choices. When there was differentiation, it always came from somebody breaking to the left for a few short days before the rest of the herd caught up.

But today? Maybe there’s hope voters might shake off this toxic ideology. The utopian Left destroys everything it touches. In the four years since the George Floyd incident, the Left has made things worse in every instance Americans trusted it with power. Leftist “reimagining” of policing has made crime worse. Leftist obsession with race, likewise, has made things worse for everyone

Meanwhile, international relations have become more chaotic with old alliances fraying while America’s enemies seem to be uniting against us. Unrestrained government spending resulted in real income declining since Biden took office. Education systems run by leftists deprive poor and minority children of the opportunity to develop minimal proficiency in math and reading. If we could only find a way to take college-educated left-wing ideologues from America and put them in charge of the Russian military, the Ukrainians could quickly win the war.

But it doesn’t have to last forever. Millennials, now the largest voting block, have begun to drift right as most generations do over time. Even the new immigrants the Democrats count on for a permanent majority have not voted as reliably Democrat as the Left hoped. For the 2024 election, the Left appears to have a huge leadership deficit. It still has lots of institutional power and it seems to have perfected a national electioneering process that delivers record ballots. But short of stirring up panics and scaring voters, it has little to offer in the way of practical solutions to the many problems its adherents have either caused or ignored.

In a sense, 2024 is shaping up to be a mirror image of 2020. As these other-than-Biden candidates duke it out in debates, they will compete to be the most unlike Biden as possible. If what happened in 2020 happens in 2024, the candidates will continue to pull each other in the opposite direction of the incumbent with the high negatives. We saw it in 2020. Even if a candidate isn’t “electable,” they can still shape the direction of the political discourse. Since every non-Biden candidate in 2024 is an anti-Biden candidate, we have reason to be hopeful that the next president will not continue what Biden started.

Jim Jordan Demands Merrick Garland Forfeit Records Over The FBI’s Mar-A-Lago Raid

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland on Tuesday demanding documentation related to the FBI’s raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate last year.

The raid — which took place on Aug. 8, 2022 — was reportedly aimed at retrieving “any document Trump ever saw, read, or created for the entirety of his four years as commander-in-chief.” Due to the unprecedented nature of the Biden DOJ conducting a raid on a former president and a potential 2024 rival, House Judiciary Republicans sent letters to Garland, FBI Director Christopher Wray, and then-White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain demanding records pertaining to “the execution of a search warrant” and “the decision to seek a search warrant” for Trump’s estate. The affidavit released by the FBI later that month justifying the agency’s warrant application to raid Trump’s Florida residence was nearly all redacted.

In November, the DOJ appointed U.S. Attorney Jack Smith as a special counsel to investigate whether Trump violated federal laws related to the handling of presidential records.

The Judiciary Committee “previously requested information and documents related to the FBI’s raid on President Trump’s residence and its subsequent investigation,” Jordan’s letter to Garland reads. “Because you have not provided this information, and in light of your appointment of Jack Smith as special counsel, we write to request an unredacted copy of the memorandum outlining the scope of Mr. Smith’s probes regarding President Trump and any supporting documentation related to his appointment as special counsel.”

In addition to the unredacted memo “outlining the scope of Special Counsel Smith’s investigations,” Jordan is also seeking “any other document describing, listing, or delineating the authority and jurisdiction of the special counsel.” Garland’s deadline for forfeiting such records to the House Judiciary Committee is June 20, according to the letter.

Jordan’s Tuesday letter to the DOJ is his second within the past week requesting additional information related to the FBI’s Mar-a-Lago raid. On Thursday, Jordan sent a separate memo to Garland expressing concerns about the FBI’s track record of “bias and reckless disregard for truth,” with the House Judiciary chair specifically referencing the report released by U.S. Attorney John Durham. Released last month, the bombshell report found the FBI possessed no real evidence that then-candidate Trump colluded with Russian government officials when it launched its investigation into the Trump campaign leading up to the 2016 election.

Meanwhile, House Republicans recently announced plans to hold contempt hearings for Wray later this week for allegedly violating a congressional subpoena over an unclassified document that “purportedly implicates President Joe Biden in a $5 million bribery scheme with a ‘foreign national’ from Biden’s time in the Obama administration.”

Second Amendment Victory: Court Protects Gun Rights for Non-Violent Offender

Second Amendment Victory: Court Protects Gun Rights for Non-Violent Offender

Jeff Charles reporting for RedState

In a significant victory for Second Amendment advocates, the Philadelphia-based 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Bryan Range, a Pennsylvania man barred from possessing firearms due to a non-violent conviction. This ruling, a result of the Supreme Court’s ruling in New York Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen, reinforces the principles of individual liberty and emphasizes the importance of adhering to constitutional rights. Even better, it could signify some positive developments in the future when it comes to protecting the right to keep and bear arms for those convicted of non-violent offenses.

The 11-4 ruling was handed down on Tuesday:

Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), a pro-Second Amendment nonprofit that filed amicus briefs during the appellate process, lauded the ruling, referring to its “potential implications for countless others who have been wrongfully disarmed. In a statement, the organization noted:

“At root, the Government’s claim that only ‘law-abiding, responsible citizens’ are protected by the Second Amendment devolves authority to legislators to decide whom to exclude from ‘the people,’” wrote Judge Hardiman in the majority opinion. “We reject that approach because such ‘extreme deference gives legislatures unreviewable power to manipulate the Second Amendment by choosing a label.’”

FPC and FPCAF filed amicus briefs in this case at both the 3-judge and en banc panel stages, and FPCAF’s Director of Constitutional Studies, Joseph Greenlee, argued the case as an amicus curiae before the 3-judge panel.

Greenlee’s authoritative scholarship on the issue, an article published by the Wyoming Law Review in 2020, was cited in both a concurring and dissenting opinion, as it had been by the 3-judge panel opinion. His newest article on the issue argues for a result consistent with today’s ruling by the en banc majority.

“For nearly three decades, Mr. Range has been unjustly denied his Second Amendment rights,” said Greenlee. “We’re thrilled that Mr. Range’s rights have been restored, and about the decision’s potential implications for countless others who have been wrongfully disarmed.”

Range v. Garland is the first post-Bruen en banc victory, and on an issue FPC and FPCAF have been actively engaged on. FPC and FPCAF will continue to seek the restoration of natural, fundamental, and enumerated rights for all of the People through its leading scholarly and litigation work.

The Third Circuit Court of Appeals made the right ruling in this case. Judge Hardiman was right to emphasize that the government’s claim of protecting only “law-abiding, responsible citizens” fails to uphold the true essence of the Second Amendment. By allowing legislators to arbitrarily determine who should be excluded from this constitutional right, the court rightly rejects the notion of granting unreviewable power to manipulate the Second Amendment based on labeling individuals. Unfortunately, far too many Americans have been prohibited from arming themselves because of these intrusive laws.

The court’s ruling in Range v. Garland is not only a victory for Bryan Range but also has the potential to affect numerous individuals who have been wrongly disarmed due to non-violent convictions. For nearly three decades, Range was unjustly denied his Second Amendment rights, but this decision sets an important precedent for the protection of these rights. It underscores the need for a balanced approach that considers the context of non-violent convictions when determining an individual’s eligibility to exercise their constitutional rights.

To put it simply, there is absolutely no justification for depriving nonviolent offenders of their right to keep and bear arms – these laws should have never existed in the first place. Hopefully, this ruling will be a significant step in the right direction.

Jaw Dropping Stats – Reports of Bud Light Memorial Day Sales Dropping -60% as Brand Boycott Continues

Memorial Day customarily kicks off summer and the beer beverage industry generally looks forward to the enhanced sales that come from summer.  However, if the recently published reports of Anheuser-Busch sales are accurate, which includes a stunning 60% sales drop during the holiday, the brand position of Bud Light is in freefall.

While the impacts do have a regional trend based on consumer boycotts and patterns, when the Daily Mail reports, “numbers are suffering primarily due to a decline in Bud Light sales that reached as high as a 60 percent drop off over the week that ended on Memorial Day,” we can be certain the executive offices of A/B are watching closely. The feedback from wholesalers and distributors to the parent company must be something beyond alarm.

Worse still, the forward-looking data trend doesn’t offer any hope.  Things are getting worse for the parent company.

(Daily Mail) – […] For the week ending May 20, Bud Light sales across the US fell nearly 26 percent compared to the same period last year. For the week ending May 6, in-store sales plummeted 23.6 percent. And the week before that, ending April 29, sales dropped by 23.3 percent.

This follows declines in sales for the week ending April 22, which saw a 21.4 percent decline. Seven days earlier, the dip has been 17 percent, according to NielsenIQ data provided to Dailymail.com by Bump Williams Consultancy.

The data – showing that US sales of Bud Light are dropping by as much as 20 percent each week – is being uniformly viewed by industry experts as a negative trend that may not reverse itself anytime soon.

Beer Business Daily editor Harry Schuhmacher told Fox News Digital that the ‘whole industry is in shock’. (read more)

It is safe to say the Bud Light brand is now firmly connected to the image of transgender ideology. As a result, it would appear that anyone who holds a Bud Light beverage is essentially identifying themselves as a transvestite pickle-puffer, and that could potentially draw considerable side-eyes from anyone in a public place outside the region of San Francisco, California.

As further noted by the New York Post, “Demand for Bud Light over the crucial Memorial Day weekend — the official kickoff of the summer beer buying season — was lukewarm with many store shelves still holding cases of the once mighty beer, Williams said after a spot check of local stores.  At least one store was trying to unload a 24-pack of Bud Light for just $3.49, according to Beer Business Daily.”

Anheuser-Busch InBev CEO Michel Doukeris reportedly addressed the ongoing boycott’s impact on delivery drivers, salespeople, and wholesalers on a recent earnings call. It is a little bit odd to see A/B positioning themselves as victims of their customers.

“This situation has impacted our people and especially our frontline workers: The delivery drivers, sales representatives, our wholesalers, Bud owners and servers,” Doukeris said, according to ABC News. “These people are the fabric of our business. They are our neighbors, family members, and friends. They are in every community in America. We’ve been doing everything we can to support our teams.”

It would appear that Anheuser-Busch the corporation, are refusing to accept or acknowledge their responsibility in creating this crisis for their brand.  The brand image issue was not forced upon them.  These were decisions made by the marketing division of the company, and now they place blame for the consequences on their customers.

Every time, in every story, in every print and broadcast update, as the ongoing events are told or written – every visual aide that accompanies the news includes that weird guy with the Bud Light beer in his hand.  This is now a bizarre marketing self-fulfilling prophecy. The articles and news telling updates to the story are now optically affirming the Bud Light brand as a beverage exclusively for transgenders.

This level of ongoing public relations failure is something for the record books.  I wonder if Target Inc is paying attention.

The Disturbing Trend: Younger Generations Open to In-Home Government Surveillance

At a time when the government is facing scrutiny over its illegal surveillance programs, a new report suggests the nation might have reason to be concerned about the future. The majority of Americans today do not approve of federal agencies violating our constitutional rights. But the younger generations appear to be far more amenable to the idea.

This is an indicator of how important it is to educate the public on the dangers of giving the state the power to monitor everyday Americans with no valid reason.

The Cato Institute recently released the findings of a study that analyzed, in part, attitudes toward the extent to which the government should be empowered to spy on American citizens:

In a newly released Cato Institute 2023 Central Bank Digital Currency National Survey of 2,000 Americans, we asked respondents whether they “favor or oppose the government installing surveillance cameras in every household to reduce domestic violence, abuse, and other illegal activity.” Not surprisingly, few Americans—only 14 percent—support this idea. Three‐fourths (75 percent) would oppose government surveillance cameras in homes, including 68 percent who “strongly oppose,” while 10% don’t have an opinion either way.

These particular results don’t seem too troubling given that only a small percentage would be just fine with Big Brother spying on them in their homes. Still, when looking at attitudes among younger Americans, it is clear that this could be an issue in the future:

However, Americans under the age of 30 stand out when it comes to 1984‐style in‐home government surveillance cameras. 3 in 10 (29 percent) Americans under 30 favor “the government installing surveillance cameras in every household” in order to “reduce domestic violence, abuse, and other illegal activity.” Support declines with age, dropping to 20 percent among 30–44 year olds and dropping considerably to 6 percent among those over the age of 45.

The results of the Cato Institute’s 2023 Central Bank Digital Currency National Survey should serve as an alarm regarding Americans’ perceptions of government surveillance. The study, which focused on opinions about installing surveillance cameras in every household, highlights a disturbing trend, particularly among younger individuals.

Privacy is a fundamental pillar of a free society. It provides individuals with autonomy, fosters creativity, and allows for the free exchange of ideas. Moreover, it prevents the state from abusing civilians. The acceptance of government surveillance cameras in every household represents a dangerous erosion of this fundamental right. It reveals that younger generations do not have an adequate understanding of America’s founding principles.

Even more frightening is that it shows a chilling trust in the state and belies a serious lack of understanding of the dangers of an ever-intrusive government. This could easily open the door to a society where every action and conversation is subject to scrutiny, undermining personal freedom and inhibiting individual expression.

The consequences of embracing such an intrusive level of surveillance are far-reaching and extend beyond the issue at hand. History has shown repeatedly that once governments gain access to tools of surveillance and control, they become emboldened to expand their reach. What starts as a seemingly well-intentioned measure to combat crime can quickly morph into a pervasive system of control and oppression.

Moreover, such intrusive surveillance systems will inevitably be abused or manipulated, leading to violations of civil liberties and personal freedoms. The mere presence of constant surveillance can stifle dissent and curtail individuals’ willingness to exercise their rights, fostering an environment of self-censorship and fear.

The results of this study, if accurate, are a welcome sign for authoritarians on the left and right. As the study demonstrates, complacency and apathy towards government surveillance can have profound consequences for society as a whole. It is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and actively question the balance between security and privacy. The value of personal liberties should never be compromised or casually discarded, especially for an illusory feeling of safety.

The Cato Institute’s study serves as a stark reminder of the dangers inherent in sacrificing privacy for security. The fact that a significant portion of young Americans is willing to accept in-home surveillance cameras is profoundly unsettling and raises concerns about the future of individual freedoms. As a society, it is crucial that we engage in informed discussions, constantly challenge the erosion of privacy, and educate the public about the importance of safeguarding the principles that underpin American society.

Biden’s Declining Mental Acuity Is A Big Welcome Mat To Red China’s Aggression

President Joe Biden’s declining mental acuity has become a national security issue and has seemingly emboldened Red China’s willingness to engage in increasingly aggressive behavior.

On Saturday, a U.S. destroyer was abruptly cut off by a Chinese naval vessel during a transit through the Taiwan Strait. According to Fox News, the USS Chung-Hoon — which was conducting a “freedom of navigation” exercise with the Royal Canadian Navy — was forced to “slow down to 10 knots to avoid a collision” with the Chinese vessel. U.S. Indo-Pacific Command said in a statement that the Chinese ship came within 150 yards of the U.S. destroyer and that China’s “actions violated the maritime ‘Rules of the Road’ of safe passage in international waters.”

“The U.S. military flies, sails, and operates safely and responsibly anywhere international law allows,” U.S. military officials said. Paul Mountford, the commander of the Canadian frigate, claimed the Chinese vessel’s maneuver was announced over the radio before it was attempted, “clearly indicat[ing] this was intentional.” Predictably, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) defended the aggressive move by calling it “lawful, safe and professional.”

This weekend’s incident marks the latest in a growing list of Chinese maneuvers that appear designed to interfere with U.S. military operations. Two weeks ago, a Chinese fighter jet came within 400 feet of a U.S. reconnaissance aircraft while the latter was conducting a patrol of the South China Sea. The unexpected fly-by signifies “an alarming increase in the number of risky aerial intercepts and confrontations at sea by [People’s Liberation Army] aircraft and vessels,” according to the Pentagon.

Biden’s Decline = Red China’s Rise

The list of aggressive actions taken by the CCP in recent months isn’t the only one that’s getting longer. Within the past few days, Biden has advertised several moments of ailing mental and physical health.

On Thursday, the president tripped over a sandbag while handing out diplomas at the Air Force Academy’s 2023 graduation ceremony. When exiting Marine One later that same day, Biden hit his head on the helicopter’s door frame, later telling reporters he “got sandbagged,” in reference to his graduation fall.

In addition to falling numerous times, Biden has failed to recall basic facts while speaking at public events. For example, when asked by a child during a White House event in late April about the last country he visited, Biden completely blanked on the question until another kid had to remind him it was Ireland — where he had been only two weeks prior. Biden’s also had moments where he’s gotten lost on stage, forgotten the name of his defense secretary, confused President Donald Trump with President George W. Bush, and forgot what office he was running for, just to name a few.

While legacy media have worked overtime to run interference for Biden by accusing Republicans of “seizing” on these moments to question his fitness to serve, the president’s penchant for exhibiting physical and cognitive weakness poses a major problem. Every public display of Biden’s fragility is another indication to Xi Jinping and the CCP that America lacks the effective leadership necessary to confront China’s growing ambitions.

And why wouldn’t it? Biden’s domestic policies have crippled America’s national security and economic stability, while opening the door for antagonistic powers such as China and Russia to move towards a “multipolar world order” devoid of U.S. hegemony. Moreover, the CCP already tested Biden’s resolve when it sent a spy balloon into U.S. airspace earlier this year. Instead of shooting it down immediately, Biden waited for it to drift across the entire continental United States — after it had gathered “intelligence from several sensitive American military sites” — before taking action.

Absent a strong American leader to challenge the CCP, it’s not out of the question to think China will take advantage of the Biden presidency as an opportunity to take additional aggressive actions throughout the Indo-Pacific in order to further its regional (and ultimately global) objectives.
