There’s a real problem that blue state Dem leaders face when they do what Gavin Newsom wishes in retrospect that he did not do, and it’s the fact that their coddling and caressing of the Regime Media means that they are utterly unprepared for an argument with a competent conservative when there is no Candy Crowley to help the pinko. But it’s not just pols who face this challenge – all those little Palesimptian wokesters on the big blue campuses are going to be stunned to not only find that the real world contains ideas they disapprove of, but that not all of the people who hold these foreign ideas are going to back down in the face of progressive tears.
It was brutal the way that Ron DeSantis utterly dismantled the human hairstyle masquerading as my governor the other day. He cited facts and brought receipts while Gavin tried to fend him off with glib lies and hack cliches. It looked like he was on the verge of tears when it didn’t work, and his wife – not the one who dumped him for conservative Don, Jr., because Gavin is not man enough –walked onstage when Hannity and the debaters agreed to extend the debate and said, “We’re done,” which a number of the women in Gavin’s orbit could also have collectively said. It’s funny because Newsom is a notorious philanderer.
Anyway, I’d feel sorry for him except for the fact that he is a terrible person who deserved to be humiliated in public by a smarter, better man. Which is actually something Gavin would sign a law subsidizing, given the chance.
But it’s no shock that it happened. Gavin is dumb, almost Kamala-level dumb, and he got where he is because he’s good looking, connected, and because you can be a dumb Democrat in California and survive. Why? Because you are never challenged. That’s what happened in the Ron DeSantis debate – RDS challenged him with facts and figures and examples of the kind of perverted garbage Gavin thinks belongs in your kid’s classroom. But no one else ever does that – or does very rarely. There is a highly amusing episode of Adam Carolla’s show where he had Gavin on 10 years ago and it was just amazing. Pols like Gavin and Kamala think they are smart because they always win, and they always win because the Regime Media never let’s them lose.
Now, those little commie weasels infesting our college campuses have the same problem. The woke have no conception that anyone could actually disagree with their ridiculous nonsense, and you see the results when they freak out upon exposure to truth and common sense. They go nuts. They scream, yell, cry and insist they are “unsafe” hearing things they don’t like. They embrace censorship and violence. These are bad people. And the real world is getting sick of their Schiff.
But there’s more. Look at the Regime Media. The New York Times, which the New York Times has reported is very prestigious, literally fired an editor for running a column by Tom Cotton that advocated for the entirely reasonable idea of unleashing the military on the scumbag BLM/Antifa rioters in the wake of the death of pregnant woman-threatening pharmaceutical enthusiast George Floyd. If you read the NYT or the WaPo or watch network news shows, you have zero idea of any views that oppose your stupid worldwide. Moreover, you have no idea what the other side actually thinks. Us cons know exactly what the left thinks; the left has no understanding of its opponents beyond the hack, self-serving cliches about us that they tell themselves to feel better about their own miserable hides.
That’s why it they were so shocked for the working class to go to Trump in 2016. The Dems thought they owned this demographic. But the left had not bothered to actually listen to this demographic and its concerns for decades. Outsourcing, illegal immigration, crime – to the extent the left knew that its own coalition was interested in these issues it dismissed that as the result of ignorance and racism. They missed the story completely; actual journalist Salena Zito saw it coming because she went and actually talked to normal people. In the rare instances the Regime Media did, it treated normal like Margaret Mead treated the natives. The reality of this vital component of their anticipated electoral victory for Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit was completely ignored and – surprise – that’s how you got Trump!
It's the echo chamber problem. Inside one, not only do you not see the issues people care about outside of your Chardonnay-soaked affinity group, but when someone does bring up these forbidden thoughts and ideas, you have no way to effectively argue for your own side because you have never had to before. So, instead of countering DeSantis by hitting the weak points of his case for the Frozen Iguana State – and as a trial lawyer, I know that everyone has weaknesses in his arguments that an effective opponent can hone in on – the governor of the Hobo Poop State had to fall back on awkward equivocation, the usual epithets about how the conservative are bad, and outright (and easily disproven) lies.
Conservatives, on the other hand, must constantly defend themselves against harsh assaults from the Regime Media that toe-slurps the Dems. We never get to phone it in. We’re always fighting. But that’s the way it should be – we don’t want our pols getting sucked up to. Our politicians should be battered, beaten, and broken. It’s just that all politicians should be. And while sometimes it helps them to get that very special tender loving care from their simps, sometimes – like when Gavin nearly cried – it goes very wrong.
