Liz Cheney is jumping into the fight over who will be the next Speaker of the House, and she's brought with her desperate warning: Don't elect Rep. Jim Jordan to the position.
The disgraced former Republican congressional member who was ousted after losing her primary race by 40 points, has been trying to remain relevant for the last year. That's been a mostly unsuccessful endeavor, with Cheney rarely even drawing broadcast and cable news appearances anymore.
Part of that is how uninteresting she is. How many times can you cry about "democracy" being in danger before people just tune you out? That's a rhetorical question.
CHENEY: Jim Jordan knew more about what Donald Trump had planned for January 6th than any other member of the House of Representatives. Jim Jordan was involved, was part of the conspiracy in which Donald Trump was engaged as he attempted to overturn the election. Jim Jordan, if you think about the extent to which people have now said, "Well, it was Speaker Pelosi's fault that Donald Trump's mob invaded the Capitol." You know, that the security wasn't sufficient enough.
The person who knew, there was probably more than just Jim, but there was a handful of people of which he was the leader who knew what Donald Trump had planned. Now, someone needs to ask Jim Jordan, "Why didn't you report to the Capitol Police what you knew Donald Trump had planned, you were in those meetings at the White House."
She's like Uncle Rico still talking about how far he can throw a football. Is there any depth to Cheney at this point? It's all just the same accusations over and over, speaking to the same audiences, getting the same tepid applause.
What evidence does she have that Jim Jordan was part of some vast conspiracy to attack the Capitol Building? Because if she has such evidence, why hasn't she shared it with the DOJ? Why hasn't Jordan been arrested? We all know if such evidence existed, he'd be pursued vigorously by the current administration. That evidence doesn't exist, though. It's all exaggerated nonsense that Cheney repeats knowing she won't be sued because she's attacking public figures.
Cheney continued with yet more hand-wringing.
CHENEY: And if the Republicans decide that Jim Jordan should be the Speaker of the House, there will, and by the way, I don't think that's gonna happen, I think he'll lose, but if they were to decide that, there would no longer be any possible way to argue that a group of elected Republicans could be counted on to defend the Constitution.
What part of the Constitution has Jordan violated? That would seem like a prudent thing to disclose given the seriousness of the charge. It's just mind-numbing to see these left-wingers (and yeah, Cheney is one at this point) constantly scream about our "democracy" while never being forced to support their accusations. How exactly is the Constitution going to be in danger with Jordan in charge? Practically, how does that work?
Past that, if the possibility of Jordan being Speaker is so dangerous, why did Cheney encourage the removal of Kevin McCarthy? She was all about blowing things up a few days ago, but now she's concerned about his replacement. Give me a break.
Lastly, I'll just repeat what I've often said about Cheney. It is morally disgusting to watch her preen from her political high horse as if her record of governance isn't filled with tangible death and destruction. You should care far more about the millions of dead bodies left in Cheney's wake than whether Jordan becomes Speaker of the House.
