As we reported earlier, hundreds were killed at a hospital in Gaza Tuesday.
The likely cause at this point appears to be a misfire from a Hamas rocket, based on reports of video of the event. But Hamas still blamed Israel and many in the media ran with that claim without waiting to determine the facts. IDF is now claiming it was an Islamic Jihad rocket. They chastised the press for not doing their jobs.
But the immediate claim from media just to run with the Hamas claim then whipped up people who were already riled up.
Hezbollah called for action after the hospital explosion and even blamed the United States for the "attack" on the hospital. "The attack reveals the true criminal face of this entity and its sponsor ... the United States, which bears direct and complete responsibility for this massacre."
Then, responding to that call, at least hundreds marched on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut. A journalist on the ground Gabrielle Colarusso, said two to three hundred, but a report from the Daily Mail said "thousands."
Thousands of Lebanese protesters, some waving Palestinian flags, gathered late into Tuesday night outside the US embassy in response to the incident. Others gathered outside the French embassy in Beirut.
Video shows the protestor scaling a barb-wire-topped fence to replace a US flag with a Palestinian version. Later, footage showed gas being sprayed at the protestors to push them back.
Fox's Jennifer Griffin reported that there was a large fire has erupted in the Embassy compound.
It was unclear if the compound was breached or if any personnel were hurt.
At one point they replaced the U.S. flag with the Palestinian flag.
They also pelted the French Embassy with rocks.
They also rioted in Amman, Jordan. Dozens stormed and tried to get into the Israeli Embassy there.
Protests were also breaking out in other places.
Joe Biden has left for Israel, even as the summit that was to be held in Jordan was called off in the wake of the hospital explosion.
Things are quickly spinning out of control there.
