Russian President Vladimir Putin naturally watches American politics with great interest, and this includes the ongoing attempt by Democrats to take down former President Donald Trump. In fact, according to a recent interview, he's been watching that unfold with great interest.
According to Putin, the American political system is in complete disarray as one party is corrupting the system in order to persecute its opponents, completely robbing America of any moral position it has on the world stage, and this is great news for Russia.
"For us, what is happening in today's conditions, in my opinion, is good," said Putin.
"Because it shows the rottenness of the American political system which cannot pretend to teach others about democracy," he added to applause from a watching crowd.
"Everything that is happening with Trump is the persecution of a political rival for political reasons," he continued. "That's what it is. And this is being done in front of the US public and the whole world. They simply exposed their internal problems."
He'd know. Putin is no stranger to persecuting his political rivals himself, but that's beside the point.
Regardless of Putin's actions, he's not wrong about America's political system. As it stands, it's in complete and total disarray thanks to the willingness of the Democrat Party to weaponize government institutions from the IRS to the DOJ in order to punish and cripple its political rivals.
As of this writing, the Democrats continue to signal that Trump is their primary political rival and, as such, are doing what they can to stop him from running again using relentless lawfare. Democrats from the federal down to the local make a big show of trying to bring Trump down with the benefit of not only securing the White House from him but also strengthening their own careers.
Whether you like Trump or not, or plan to vote for him or someone else, his fight against the Democrats represents a perversion of America's legal and political system.

But to Putin's point, this abuse of America's systems has removed the United States as any sort of moral authority for the political process. As it stands, American politicians are happy to be as underhanded and corrupt as they need to be in order to maintain power, making them not so different from the tyrannical dictators and authoritarians we denounce.
Morally speaking, the only thing that separates Putin's regime from the Democrat Party is a connection to Jeffrey Epstein...as far as we know.
Putin is correct, at least on this point. The continued lawfare against Trump by the Democrat Party, and its continued use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies to destroy him signal a complete collapse of America's political system. It can no longer be trusted to be fair and the corruption has sunk so deep that it's unclear where it begins and ends.
As of now, the United States is in no position as the example the world should follow.
