Joe Biden is out with a new campaign ad concentrating on Ukraine.
The ad -- titled "War Zone" -- features Biden's trip to Kyiv in February and is supposed to show what a strong leader he is.
“It was the first time in modern history that an American president went into a war zone not controlled by the United States,” the narrator begins. “He entered Ukraine under the cover of night, and in the morning, Joe Biden walked shoulder to shoulder with our allies in the war-torn streets.”
“Standing up for Democracy in a place where a tyrant is waging war to take it away,” the narrator continues, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin. “In the middle of a war zone, Joe Biden showed the world what America is made of. That’s the quiet strength of a true leader who doesn’t back down to a dictator.”
Biden's campaign co-chair Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) told CNN they hoped that his approval numbers would get better with such an ad. Coons said it showed Biden "striding forcefully" and "fearlessly engaging."
Now, that surely is "striding forcefully" into a bunch of laughable propaganda. Where should we even start?
First, let's go back to what I wrote when this Kyiv visit occurred back in February.
Even the trip to Ukraine, designed to try to make him look tough in the wake of not responding soon enough to the Chinese spy balloon, appears to have been, in some part “show” — drama designed for the cameras, to make Joe Biden look less like a stumbling buffoon and more like a courageous leader.
Indeed, just like an actor in a production, he had to hit his mark. Oh, and there hadn't been any reports of missiles before the sirens went off. So funny how they went off just for Joe's production.
Now, we see the final results of the production.
The Biden team even notified the Russians in advance that Biden was going to be there so there wouldn't be anything that might put him in danger. Had there been any danger, the Secret Service would have likely whisked him away to safety and wouldn't have allowed it.
The ad praises Biden for standing up to a "dictator," Vladimir Putin. Yet, it was Biden's weakness that may have contributed to Putin's decision to invade. Recall that Biden waived the sanctions that had been in place on Nord Stream 2 and seemed to signal that a "minor incursion" might not be met with any U.S. opposition. Putin saw that weakness and likely figured he could do what he wanted, especially given the failure of any real action by Obama/Biden in the first invasion into Crimea in 2014.
But the funniest thing about this ad is how laughably clueless it is about how the American people will respond. Biden thinks this makes him look tough and like a leader rather than like the stumbling, incoherent guy he is. Yet what It does is remind Americans of how much of our money Biden has sunk in Ukraine, how he always seems to have placed Ukraine first before American priorities. It's a great ad if you're president of Ukraine; otherwise not so great for Americans suffering from Bidenflation.
The ad tries to emphasize the lengths Biden will go to for Ukraine. But it exposes how this is his priority, not Americans. This Kyiv visit happened on February 20, after the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, on Feb. 3. Biden still, months later, hasn't made it to East Palestine, despite his promise that he was going to go there. Indeed, he finally came up with an excuse as to why he hadn't gone to East Palestine when he visited Florida to look at hurricane damage at the beginning of this month -- he just hadn't had a "break," he claimed, despite having been on countless vacations since Feb. 3, including taking most of August off.
Even White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre was at a loss to try to justify that one when asked by Fox's Peter Doocy.
Biden said in February that Ukraine had captured his heart.
As I noted at that time, Matthew 6:21 states, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
The Biden campaign is going to run this new ad during "60 Minutes" in the television markets of Phoenix, Atlanta, Detroit, Las Vegas, Raleigh, Philadelphia, and Milwaukee (translation: hitting battleground states).
Please do. Please remind people what your priorities are over the American people. I don't think it's going to go over as well as the Biden team hopes.
