New Details on the Informant Alleging the Biden Bribery Scheme Should Have the White House Sweating

Bonchie reporting for RedState

President Joe Biden is facing allegations of a bribery scheme that occurred while he was serving in the Obama administration, and things just got a little more complicated for the White House.

As RedState reported, the confirmed existence of an FD-1023 (which records information from confidential human sources) form has become the centerpiece of the controversy, with House Republicans subpoenaing the document. In response, FBI Director Christopher Wray initially ignored the subpoena. He changed course after being threatened with contempt of Congress, and Rep. James Comer, who chairs the committee investigating the matter, will now be briefed on and shown the document in person on Monday.

In the end, it won’t be the document itself that represents a smoking gun, though. Rather, it will be just how credible the confidential informant behind the allegation is. On that front, Biden received some very bad news on Friday.

According to Fox News, that the informant in question is “highly credible,” having worked on multiple cases for the FBI going back to the Obama years.

The individual behind the information that then-Vice President Joe Biden was involved in a criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national is a “highly credible” FBI confidential human source who has been used by the bureau in multiple investigative matters dating back to the Obama administration, Fox News Digital has learned.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley were approached by a whistleblower alleging that the FBI was in possession of a document—an FD-1023 form, dated June 30, 2020—which explicitly detailed information provided by a confidential human source alleging Biden, while serving as vice president, was involved in a $5 million criminal bribery scheme with a foreign national in exchange for influence over policy decisions.

A source familiar told Fox News Digital on Friday that the confidential human source who provided the Biden information to the FBI was a “pre-existing” FBI source who has been used in multiple investigative matters separate from the Biden information.

This puts to bed the idea that the informant was a partisan player who popped up out of nowhere to make a wild claim against Joe Biden for political reasons. While the FD-1023 form in question is dated June 2020, the person quoted in it had apparently been working with the FBI for several years prior to that on unrelated matters. Further, as the above report also reveals, the informant was reviewed multiple times by the FBI and was always found to be highly credible.

That’s great news for Republicans who have been trying to get to the bottom of this. The smoke around the Biden family is far too thick to ignore, and while Hunter Biden garners much of the spotlight, his actions may just be the tip of the iceberg.

It feels like Comer is picking at a scab that is about to start bleeding. There’s no way for the White House to bury this at this point, especially given the FBI has finally agreed to cooperate and provide the FD-1023. All Comer and his Republican colleagues will need now is to get the informant on record, preferably in a public hearing. Once that happens, this thing blows wide open.

With that said, there is no realistic chance the DOJ will take any action (and it likely can’t given pre-existing protocols against indicting a sitting president), but further exposing Biden prior to the 2024 election is still a pretty good consolation prize. Republicans have produced a lot more in the last few months than I thought they would, and I think the White House should start sweating. This isn’t going away.
