We have to keep asking if Joe Biden is incredibly ignorant and/or compromised when it comes to China because his actions regarding them are so often manifestly bad and helpful to the Chinese.
I wrote a few days ago about how National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby said that there was no investigation into the Chinese spy balloon. Unbelievable, but that’s what he said. So they don’t think they have any obligation to find out and tell us what the CCP was able to get from us from their spying effort.
As I said in that post:
Even in the wake of China spying on us, Biden’s response was he wasn’t looking for conflict and the relationship with China hadn’t taken a big hit when it should have. What a completely bizarre reaction.
Remember that phone call to China that Biden said he was going to make to hold them to account? That never happened either. Not only did they spy on us, but they treat Joe Biden like they can do whatever they want, run right over him, and blow off any call.
China’s been blowing off taking a call from Joe, treating him like a servant. Meanwhile, Biden has been acting like a scorned lover, desperate to reconnect with the Chinese, which makes him look weak. But what he did on the 34th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre — when China killed hundreds of pro-democracy protesters — was next-level ignorant and just gave China a big win.
Biden sent Daniel Kritenbrink, the assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs, and Sarah Beran, the National Security Council’s senior director for China and Taiwan affairs, to Beijing on Sunday to discuss “key issues in the bilateral relationship,” according to a release from the State Department.
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) called out what a bad thing Biden was doing by bowing to the Chinese. Yet again.
“Is the Biden Administration sending senior officials to China as we remember the anniversary of the massacre in Tiananmen Square?” he wrote.
Issa, who serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Fox News Digital that the trip only benefits China and Chinese President Xi Jinping while weakening the United States’ position on the world stage.
“This is no ordinary foreign policy stumble,” he said. “It’s a concession demanded by the Chinese and granted by a White House and State Department willing to bend. It’s a major coup for Xi, and America’s position in the world just got weaker – where it matters most.”
“There’s no way the Congress can just look away and let this go,” he added.
Not only did they bend over for the Chinese, and do it on such a day, but the State Department also failed to recognize the massacre until two hours after their press release about sending the officials to Beijing, and only after they got blasted for their actions.
“Tomorrow, we observe the 34th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre,” the release said. “On June 4th, 1989, the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) sent tanks into Tiananmen Square to brutally repress peaceful Chinese pro-democracy protesters and bystanders alike.”
“The victims’ bravery will not be forgotten and continues to inspire advocates for these principles around the world,” it added. “The United States will continue advocating for people’s human rights and fundamental freedoms in China and around the world.”
Notice something else missing from that statement? No recognition of the hundreds killed or anything at all about the current repression.
The Biden administration wouldn’t even acknowledge if they’ll discuss the Tiananmen Square Massacre while the officials are there. On top of that, even as the officials are visiting, China was cracking down on protesters in Hong Kong for the great sin of trying to commemorate the massacre.
Hong Kong police searched and detained scores of people on Sunday, including four arrested for “seditious” intent, as authorities tightened security for the anniversary of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown.
Near Victoria Park, the previous site of yearly vigils, hundreds of police conducted stop and search operations, and deployed armoured vehicles and police vans.
Reuters witnesses saw more than a dozen people taken away, including activist Alexandra Wong, 67, who carried a bouquet of flowers, a man who held a copy of “35th of May”, a play on the Tiananmen crackdown, and an elderly man standing alone on a street corner with a candle.
“The regime wants you to forget, but you can’t forget… It (China) wants to whitewash all history,” said Chris To, 51, who visited the park in a black t-shirt and was searched by police.
When you send officials to Beijing as though everything is alright while this is going on, particularly on June 4, you are telling the Chinese that you think this is okay and you’re telling the world you’re fine with China doing this. Biden just gave the CCP another win and I have to ask again, what would he do differently if he was compromised?
