As soon as news broke regarding a second — now third (or is it fourth?) — trove of classified documents found at President Biden’s Delaware home (in addition to the initial find at the Penn Biden Center), people (at least those with a modicum of intellectual curiosity) began questioning who might have had access to the home and, by extension, the documents.
Media requests for the visitor log were met with a shrug — no such logs are kept for the President’s private residence. Still, as many pointed out, there surely must be some record of visitor comings and goings at the home, given that Biden retained Secret Service protection and they’d need to vet and keep tabs on guests to do their job properly.
As it turns out, there are, in fact, some records identifying visitors to the home — just not a formal visitor log. Fox News is reporting that the Secret Service does have names of visitors and is willing to share that information with Congress if asked. Per their report:
While the White House has not kept a formal list, the Secret Service does collect information on guests with regular access to the home.
Retention of the names of those vetted by the Secret Service depends on a variety of factors, including proximity to the president and the nature of the background check.
Anthony Guglielmi, communications chief for the Secret Service, stated:
“The Secret Service does not maintain visitor logs at the private residences of protectees. While the Secret Service does generate law enforcement and criminal justice information records for various individuals who may come into contact with Secret Service protected sites, we are not able to comment further as this speaks to the means and methods of our protective operations.”
Despite that fairly tight-lipped response, it appears the Service is willing to turn over what information it does have if requested to do so by Congress.
A source familiar with the situation told Fox News that the Secret Service is prepared to provide available background information on vetted guests to Biden’s residence if requested by Congress.
Presumably, such a request will be forthcoming from Representative Jim Comer’s (R-KY) Oversight Committee. Comer has already requested the information from Biden’s Chief of Staff, Ron Klain.
We already know that Hunter Biden had access to the garage. Who else may have? We may soon find out.
