The sheer miracle that the NCIS crossover produced

By now you've definitely heard my grumblings about this whole 3 show crossover. Like, is this really that important? Plus, LA is clearly the weaker written show, it'd stick out like a sore thumb.

Well, the night finally passed, and to my very big surprise, it wasn't a complete disaster. In fact, something incredible happened in the most unlikely of episodes.

To short recap, The 1st episode (written by the NOT a lazy bum when it comes to remembering stuff from past Seasons NCIS producer) had plenty of callbacks, including some involving really old school NCIS LA. And while he wasn't in the episode, Gibbs definitely had some kind of presence. (in fact, they ended up shooting up his cabin!)

The whole case eventually morphed into some real spy tomfoolery (LA's unwanted babysitter? Turns out, he was also a spy! Which I guess explains how he and Hetty really knew each other. And probably how they really despise each other. She was the much better and more likable spy, while he was probably always overlooked. In other words, jealously I'm guessing!).

It was the 3rd hour, and still no audio Easter egg. Immediately before the egg was actually revealed, I THEN started wondering if the whole case was a tall tale sign of who it would be! I mean, all this spy craziness, surely the team's legendary spy/leader would be lurking around?

For the 1st time in forever, I was finally right about a teaser being about Hetty!

Here's what transpired: Callen got a cryptic email, decoded it, and this is what it revealed:

“Sounds like you’ve got yourself in a bit of a pickle,” “I warned Hollice that his Simon Williams days would come to bite him in the ass. (🤣🤣🤣)

“You are all quite capable, and far be it for me to tell you what to do,” she continued. “But you might want to contact an old friend, Gwen Johns….”

---------------------------------------------------

A tape recording with Hetty's voice!!! It was a bit cryptic sounding, but it was 100% her!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 Which means she has ways of keeping an eye on her team and talking to them again from Syria!!

The best part, everyone heard the message. They know she's still alive!!! And she's still looking after them!! 😭🥰 The most inept showrunner of all time actually did something right for once!!

Here was his explanation in a TV Line interview: Link

“The triple crossover was such an important event for all of our NCIS families that it was important to have Hetty (played by Linda Hunt) be a part of it, even if she was physically unavailable.

“In true Hetty fashion, she proved not only to be on top of what was going on,” Gemmill added, “but she even offered some cryptic advice to help get them out of a jam.”

------------------------------------------

Yup. He actually says something that doesn't make me want to throw something at the wall in rage, for once! Now the real challenge will be: Can he do the right thing again before this Season ends and reunite the whole team?

Were the 3 hours a bit stupid in some ways? Oh yeah, especially in the 3rd hour. Do I hope they never do this again, and if they actually do, they actually have a better plan? Definitely! But for this one, for actually keeping it's promise of having every Series Regular in all the episodes, I won't go into a full blown rant for the time being.

Because it's been way too long since LA's real leader was heard by her team, and now they and all the fans know she's really still alive, and that in itself, is the best thing it could do despite it not being all about bringing her home!! And that earns my respect. (it's not that hard to earn BTW)

(And now to hope another miracle can happen in the next couple of months, and that one, involves actually seeing Hetty again.).

Thanks, NCIS producers, for this. 👏👏
