Perhaps no dumber dynamic currently exists in Washington than the left’s belief that they have a monopoly on “democracy.” They’ve turned a word that once used to mean something into a catch-all for anything they disagree with. Criticize Joe Biden’s policies? You’re a threat to democracy. Want basic election security measures? Threat to democracy. Enjoy free speech on the internet? Threat to democracy.
You get the idea. “Democracy” has been rendered meaningless by ideologues who can’t bother to actually defend their positions with facts and logic. That’s how you end up with trans-activist and “online safety expert” (lol) Alejandro Carabello getting absolutely nuked by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC).
Here’s what the exchange looked like.
At the beginning of the clip, we see Mace asking all the witnesses present if they feel that inflammatory language on social media is a “threat to democracy.” One by one, they all give very affirmative answers because that’s what Democrats are trained to say. For years, those on the left have suggested that rights must be quashed in order to preserve freedom in America. What they really mean by that is that rights must be quashed in order to prop up their agenda. They can’t win the argument so they want to crush any dissent.
Regardless, after all the witnesses walked into the trap, Mace’s aide starts putting up giant posters of Carabello’s past tweets, some of them calling for the accosting of Supreme Court justices over the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
For example, one of them said the following.
The 6 justices who overturned Roe should never know peace again. It is our civic duty to accost them every time they are in public. They are pariahs. Since women don’t have their rights, these justices should never have a peaceful moment in public again.
That’s pretty inflammatory, right? Carabello is not just disagreeing with the justices. She’s suggesting they should be attacked in public to the point of never knowing peace again. Of course, she didn’t get banned for that because her post was made under the old Twitter regime, which did not enforce its TOS equally depending on what one’s politics were.
But I digress, Mace then asks if she “stands by these comments, this kind of rhetoric on social media, and do you believe its a threat to democracy.” That leaves Carabello stammering, saying that Mace isn’t giving an “accurate characterization” of her statements even though it’s right there in her tweet. Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) then picks up the mantle and unloads on Carabello about her past comments attacking concerned parents over the rapes that happened in Loudoun County, VA.
In the end, Mace brought the receipts and Carabello had no explanation because there can’t be one. Democrats are rabid hypocrites who want to shut everyone else up by the force of law while they rant like children, up to and including threatening violence. Watching them get exposed is always entertaining and informative.
