Last year, I stressed how much I love GAC because it resembles the Hallmark Channel that I loved as a teenager. Well, I'm glad to say, that in this network's 2nd year, it still resembles it!
This year, there was more movies, unknown stars that looked delightful instead of cringeworthy, a few new movies made by different companies that also do family friendly rom coms, and yes, more delightful classics made by the network itself!
The nice part about having a whole year to prepare, is that you have plenty of time to begin building your core audience. After taking a 6 month long break from airing new movies, this network began airing 1 new movie after another, and they were all delights to see. The best part: All of them got the network to trend on Twitter each weekend!
GAC also bought the syndication rights to several popular sit coms that were big hits in their day and have them airing in marathon mode throughout the week.
Many former Hallmark stars also saw the growing potential (and actual family friendly values) in the network and signed multi year deals to make movies for the network. Hopefully more follow in the coming year.
There was also vile media attacks who wanted nothing more then to paint the network as 'dangerous to the alphabet community' (even though they've had gay people work behind the scenes of a few movies and they liked working on them! For example: The male lead from 'The Art of Christmas'? He's 'together' together with the movie's director, who is also male! And they certainly didn't complain about working with the network!!).
Back when 'A Christmas Present' was being filmed, some a-hole on a phony looking casting call site was trying to spread a vicious rumor that an actual gay couple was going to be cast as background extras, there was a phony looking casting call up and everything. Thankfully, that foolish attempt was debunked as false after 1 day and that fake casting call was removed.
And then (you all know this sad part) there was the vile attacks against Candace over 1 single interview, and then to add more controversy, 1 other actor choosing to leave because he feels he 'can't fully support the alphabet community on the network'. (what an idiot. Gay actors or BTS folks are allowed to work on the movies, they don't mind playing straight folk! That's not discrimitory.) (and if any misinformed losers attempt to 'debate' me on this, just remember. I know several gay actors who have been playing straight folk for years, and they don't complain about it!!)
The absolute best part though: All the foolish attacks against this network, haven't stopped the network from growing in popularity and in ratings! This year, several of these 18 new movies made it into the Top 150 rated shows and movies (according to Showbuzz daily), even at times beating UP TV's new entries! That's good progress.
It's been a great 1st full year for Great American Family, and I'm very proud to get to continue to promote their content in 2023!
