Biden Freaks out on Stage for Mysterious Reasons, Steps in It Big-Time Over Energy Policy

Bonchie reporting for RedState

What in the world just happened? That’s the big question after an event President Joe Biden held on Sunday evening with New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Democrats have been rushing to help rescue Hochul following Republican candidate Lee Zeldin’s meteoric rise in the polls. New York, a deep blue state, is not supposed to be in play. The fact that it is so close says nothing good about Democrat chances come election night. I could write a whole other article on the insulting, tone-deaf things Hochul said at the “rally,” but really, I can’t just ignore this.

Seriously, what is this?

I feel like I say this in every piece I write on a Biden public appearance, but I’m at a loss. Did he get scared by his own shadow? I’m only half joking because even though we can’t see the stage, it doesn’t appear there was actually anything in his way. Later he walks in the same spot without issue. He seems genuinely startled at that moment, shouting “it’s black” without any further explanation. It was weird, even by Biden’s standards.

“Great. Now we’re getting 6 more weeks of recession,” one Twitter user quipped in response, and I think that wins the day. The fact that the President of the United States has become a running punchline due to his senility is probably not a good thing, but we can at least have some fun in the meantime.

Speaking of which, Biden reprised his “deer in kevlar vests” line that he’s repeated many times over the years. Because apparently, he has no handlers brave enough to tell him how ridiculous he sounds.

“Another gun” is doing a ton of work there. What other gun? He can’t be talking about hunting rifles because their muzzle velocities are mostly comparable to that of an AR-15. Bigger calibers will be somewhat slower (while hitting with more mass), but they are nowhere near five times slower. Even pistols are only two to three times slower depending on the round and barrel length. Further, velocity is only one component of lethality when talking about firearms so what exactly is Biden’s point?

Regardless, the Second Amendment does not exist to hunt deer. It was a given when the Bill of Rights was drafted that people could own firearms and hunt. The right to bear arms was about something more. It was about ensuring the ability of individuals to own guns, organize, and protect themselves, including from a tyrannical government. The whole “deer in kevlar vests” thing is laughably stupid and irrelevant. Besides, if someone is wanting to pierce body armor, there are far better options than an AR-15.

Silliness and senility aside, though, the most consequential moment of Biden’s speech happened when he was actually coherent. While responding to a protester, the president point-blank stated that “there is no more drilling” just days before the mid-term elections.

That statement comes on the heels of the White House rushing to clean up Biden’s promise to shut down all coal-fired power plants in the country. His handlers have been desperately trying to claim he’s pro-energy in the aftermath, but shouldn’t we trust what continues to come out of his mouth? Biden is the president, even if he’s obviously not the one calling the shots.

I can’t think of a dumber message to spread as voters get ready to head to the polls on election day. With inflation, energy, and gas prices through the roof, bragging that his administration has stopped all new drilling is like Biden admitting to an economic murder. I’m sure we’ll get another clean-up attempt soon enough, but the president has made clear what he really thinks, and voters should believe him.
