Joe Biden Does Joe Biden Things at Gala, Addresses Illegal Alien Controversy

Bonchie reporting for RedState

The president has finally weighed in on the controversy surrounding the transportation of illegal aliens to places like Martha’s Vineyard and Kamala Harris’ vice presidential home.

Appearing before a gala held by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Joe Biden railed against Republicans for using “migrants” as “props,” though he stopped short of naming Gov. Ron Desantis or Gov. Greg Abbott.

Here are some of the lowlights, per The Hill.

“Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props. What they’re doing is simply wrong, it’s un-American, it’s reckless,” Biden said Thursday evening.

“And we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border. We’re working to make sure it’s safe and orderly and humane,” Biden continued. “Republican officials should not interfere with that process by waging these political stunts.”

This kind of thing really is so very grating. Biden’s policies have not only allowed the crisis at the border to occur, but they have also exacerbated it beyond all expectations. I think most people knew the president would be a disaster regarding immigration policy, but seeing over 200,000 a month is almost unimaginable.

So for this guy, the guy at the very center of the problem, to lecture others about being “un-American” for sending a handful of illegal aliens to affluent Democrat areas that have plenty of resources is just incredible, and not in a good way. What happened to the idea of sanctuary cities? Was all that bragging about diversity being our strength and virtue signaling about federal immigration laws just for show? That’s a rhetorical question, obviously.

But while Biden calls these moves by border states “stunts,” they aren’t that at all. DeSantis and Abbott have managed to turn the entire nation’s attention to the crisis at the border, and all it took was sending a few illegal immigrants to Democrat cities. That it might spurn change is the point, and a worthy one.

Besides, Biden’s assertion that things at the border are ordered and human is just a lie. Men, women, and children are living under overpasses in shanty towns. The dangers are intense, with nearly 1,000 illegal aliens dying at the border so far this year, and that’s just in the last few miles that agents have found. Imagine how many people are dying as part of the previous 3,000 miles they traveled.

Biden’s border policies are immoral and inhumane. He has no room to lecture anyone about political stunts or using illegal aliens as pawns. The worst Republican governors have done is give free rides to people who were going to head into the interior of the country looking for the opportunity anyway. That’s a far cry away from the president’s policies of death, destruction, and lawlessness.

Regardless, no Biden speech would be complete without Joe Biden doing Joe Biden things. When he finished, he once again appeared to get lost on stage, not knowing which side to exist.

That’s the guy trying to position himself as the nation’s moral center. It’s a joke, and everyone knows it’s a joke. If Biden actually cared about illegal aliens, he’d stop providing incentives for them to come. Absent that, he’d at least be encouraging their resettlement across the country in order to spread the load out. Instead, he supports making red states bear the burden because he finds it politically expedient. Good on DeSantis and Abbott for turning the tables.
