We were already deep in the muck with Joe Biden pouring billions of our money into Ukraine, with no end in sight.
Moreover, Joe Biden’s weakness/compromise is emboldening the Chinese and we may have another invasion coming because of it in Taiwan. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said that his understanding was that the White House leaked the original plans of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Ca) to visit Taiwan on her trip to Asia and he believed it was done because Biden was kowtowing to China. That’s despicable, if true, and not just putting Pelosi in danger, but endangering our national security.
The Chinese then threatened to shoot her out of the sky and the White House response was pathetic. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she wasn’t going to talk about Pelosi’s schedule but she didn’t even present any kind of strength against the threat or condemn it. Reports on Monday indicated that Pelosi would be going after all, regardless of Joe Biden. As my colleague Joe Cunningham said, that’s the right response because it’s a recognition of Taiwan’s independence and American policy on the issue. We can’t have the Chinese telling us where our Speaker of the House can travel.
But if Russia and China threats weren’t enough, Joe Biden’s weakness is getting us new threats from Iran now.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) state media has made social media posts indicating that they have the facility to make nuclear warheads for missiles now and that they can “turn New York into hellish ruins.” They posted this video named, “When Will Iran’s Sleeping Nuclear Warheads Awaken.”
“President Biden and his administration should consider this latest threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran as the last straw and should publicly respond to the regime in Tehran by announcing crippling economic sanctions against Ayatollah Khamenei and his inner circle,” Iranian Americans for Liberty Executive Director Bryan Leib wrote in a statement. “Enough is enough – appeasing the Mullahs in Tehran has failed and we must now project the full strength of the United States of America onto these terrorists.”
Donald Trump told the Turning Point SAS conference on July 23 that “They have all the enriched materials they need” and that they might have a nuclear weapon now. He said that would be a “whole different game” that would change the world radically.
But Biden came into office saying he wanted to re-activate the Iran Deal and while it’s currently stalled, he still hasn’t shut it down, despite the threats that endanger us all. His weakness is causing such threats now from our adversaries. He will likely have no real reaction to this, just as he had such a pathetic response to the threat to Pelosi. Even this threat won’t stop him from trying to re-enter the deal. Such a deal would once again prop up the mullahs, just as the first one did, because it would likely involve lifting sanctions on Iran.
The right response is to cut them off until they reform. But that’s something Biden seems unable to do.
