We’ve already seen reports that First Lady Jill Biden had reservations about the choice of Kamala Harris as Vice President, but a new book gives us a deeper look—and it turns out Joe Biden himself had concerns.
The book, called “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future,” is authored by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns, and is scheduled for release May 3.
Fox News, which received an excerpt, reports that Jill Biden was not pleased when she learned Harris became a leading candidate to serve as Biden’s running mate. She allegedly fumed:
There are millions of people in the United States. Why do we have to choose the one who attacked Joe?
You can see why Jill was ticked off. Who can forget the presidential debate in 2019, when Harris savaged Biden, essentially calling him a racist:
When you say to someone, “I do not believe you are a racist,” what you are in fact saying is, “I believe you are a total racist SOB.” Why would you even bring up the R word in the first place, unless you were trying to tar someone with that brush?
The claim that Jill Biden was not a fan of Kamala has been circulating for some time. However, according to Fox News:
The book also highlights Biden’s own reservations to select Harris as a running mate. Noting her “past romantic relationship with Willie Brown, the former San Francisco mayor who had appointed Harris to a pair of minor political positions,” the book said Biden described the behavior “as the kind of thing that should be off limits.”
Yes, they were talking about THAT story, the one where Kamala Harris reportedly got her start in politics owing to an affair with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.
Biden reportedly considered other running mates including New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, and even Stacey Abrams, who “pushed hard” for the job (but “did not pass the test”).
The pick has not turned out well. As RedState has extensively documented, the Vice President has been a train wreck, with her approval ratings a full 18 points below even Joe Biden’s. Here are just a few of our headlines from the last month:

She has become more famous for her inappropriate cackles and tendency to speak as if she’s addressing small children. This clip lives on in infamy:
Her struggles have been almost comical, and are easy fodder for parody and mockery. There’s nothing funny about it, however, as she is second-in-command of the free world and one heartbeat away from the presidency.
Joe should have listened to his wife—and his own misgivings.
