Kamala Harris' Staff Descends Into Delusion After Disastrous Interviews

Bonchie reporting for RedState

Kamala Harris continues to flounder in the public eye, with her latest interview performances providing more fodder for those that view her as completely unprepared for the job she holds.

Most recently, the vice president sat down with Joy Reid (a deranged, racist conspiracy theorist) in Mississippi. What followed was a stream of consciousness about the Delta and regime change in Russia that experts are still trying to interpret. And who could forget Harris’ famous word salad just prior to the invasion of Ukraine, a moment in which she touted the deterrence of sanctions while at the same time admitting that an invasion was imminent? That exchange also went on to become a counter to one of Joe Biden’s most brazen lies.

I can keep going. For example, on Wednesday, Harris attempted to express her thoughts on the economic issues facing Jamaica and managed to talk herself in circles. Days before that, the vice president riffed on the “passage of time” in a viral moment that drew perplexed looks across the land. You get the point. There is nothing good about Harris’ public speaking nor the results she’s producing.

Yet, for reasons yet to be explained, her current staffers (well, at least those that remain after the mass of resignations that took place), believe Harris is doing just great.

Hit her stride? Am I to think that Harris’ staffers are both blind and deaf, because what else am I supposed to assume about anyone who thinks she’s actually done well over the last several months? Every single time she does an interview, there are moments that permeate for days after because they are so mock-worthy. Heck, I’d suggest that Harris has actually gotten worse compared to last year, looking as ill-prepared and incapable as ever.

Watching Harris give an interview is like watching a hung-over, high school student try to discuss a book in class that they obviously didn’t read. It’s like she’s never even looked at the material she’s there to discuss, and I often wonder whether the vice president’s staff even bother to brief her at this point. Clearly, if they are doing so, she doesn’t absorb it or put the work in to retain it.

With that context firmly established, I’m then left to ponder if the staffers that she does have left are just too afraid to tell her the truth. Harris seems like the type of boss that would be less than ideal to work for. After all, nothing is ever her fault because her failures are always laid at the feet of sexism and/or racism. I could easily see her going off on any staffer who tries to push her to better herself.

Regardless, it doesn’t help Harris to lie to her. There’s a reason her popularity sits below even that of Joe Biden, whose collapse has been precipitous — and it’s not because she’s “hit her stride.” That’s just pure delusion.
