As we reported Sunday night, foreign policy “whiz” Joe Biden is considering sending thousands of U.S. troops, warships, and aircraft to the Baltics and Eastern Europe in response to Russia’s increasingly ominous threats against Ukraine. I could be wrong, of course, but things are about to get really stupid.
Konstantin Gavrilov, Russia’s envoy for talks with NATO allies, said last week that time was running out for a “diplomatic solution” to Moscow’s concocted crisis with Ukraine, warning that a countdown has begun.
The moment of truth is approaching when the West will have to accept our proposals or we will have to find other ways to get the guarantees needed for our security.
We believe that a way can be found to reach mutually agreed solutions, but time is running out. The countdown has begun.
And what from the Biden administration in light of the threat?
As reported by Just the News, Sunday night, the U.S. has quietly sent special operations teams into Kyiv, Ukraine, to help with a potential diplomatic evacuation — while ridiculously-inept Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Sunday rebuffed pleas from the former Soviet Union “possession” to impose preemptive sanctions against Vladimir Putin’s Russia in an attempt to ward off an invasion.
The teams arrived last week, shortly before U.S. Embassy families were ordered to begin evacuating Ukraine, sources who have direct knowledge of the events told Just the News. “This means that they’re anticipating violence or complete deterioration in short order,” said former Diplomatic Security Service Special Agent Dale McElhattan, who has taken part in prior diplomatic evacuations.
Back to Blinken.
In response to Ukraine’s request for sanctions against Russia, Blinken went Blinken-stupid, telling CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday that preemptive sanctions would undermine Western leverage.
“When it comes to sanctions, the purpose of those sanctions is to deter Russian aggression. So if they’re triggered now, you lose the deterrent effect.
Wait — huh?
Um, Tony? You are familiar with the definition of preemptive, right? And that Moscow said “the countdown has begun,” with 100,000 Russian troops massed on the border with Ukraine? Hello? Is anybody in there?
Blinken continued being Blinken:
All of the things that we’re doing, including building up in a united way with Europe, massive consequences for Russia, is designed to factor into President [Vladimir] Putin’s calculus and to deter and dissuade them from taking aggressive action, even as we pursue diplomacy at the same time.
Incidentally, Afghanistan and the Americans purposely abandoned by Biden behind Taliban lines were unavailable for comment.
Blinken’s and presumably Biden’s illogical “logic” is ominously naive. As we reported in August, these are the same inept fools who ignored the advice of top military leaders and ordered the airport in Kabul to be used to evacuate Americans from Afghanistan instead of strategically-held Bagram Air Base — which any 10th-grader with a modicum amount of knowledge about both options would have readily chosen.
As we reported in September, even Democrat lawmakers blistered Blinken over his role in Biden’s Afghanistan debacle, accusing the hapless Secretary of State of abandoning his “honor” (assuming he had “honor” to abandon) and “tanking our reputation around the world.”
That was then, this is now.
And Biden’s go-to guy for all-things foreign policy hasn’t changed a bit or learned a damn thing.
And neither has Biden.
