Hallmark vs. GAC Family

For a very long time, Hallmark Channel was about traditional family values. They make amazing cards, they make a lot of family friendly movies, sounds like an amazing network, right? Yeah...

Until late in 2019 when an ad featuring a disgusting gay couple kissing was pulled, then put back on air, then the head of Hallmark at the time, Bill Abbott, was fired. That was the last year of absolutely no gross gay couples being in movies on the network.

Summer of 2020: 'Wedding every Weekend' became the first Hallmark movie to show a gay couple getting married. 'The Christmas House' became the first Hallmark Christmas movie to openly advertise a gay couple.

The new head of Hallmark wants to make more movies with black or Asian leads, and is even coming up with a new series that is entirely dedicated to blacks.

There have only been 3 movies so far this year with disgusting gay couples, but that's 3 too many.

Sounds like a network that wants to be more 'correct' and promote the false idea that 2 guys being dads to children is a good idea? Yup.

This is where GAC Family comes.

GAC Family isn't really a new network, it's a different name for The Great American Country channel. Bill Abbot started it last month. https://www.gacfamily.com

Here is what it's described as: A network that wants to be all about traditional family values. Or as pathetic liberals call it: Anti gay.

Basically, Bill Abbott wants this network to be what Hallmark is turning it's back on. And so far, he's doing a great job of it! The former hosts of the recently canceled 'Home and Family' reality show on Hallmark recently hosted a special on Saturday highlighting the networks new Christmas movies. (I watched it yesterday, it was really cute!). And it trended on Twitter with 1700 tweets.

See this checklist here of their schedule? Most of these actors are either Hallmark regulars, or have done movies for Hallmark. They even moved the When Calls the Heart (Hallmark's highest rated show) spinoff, When Hope Calls, to GAC Family, and is bringing 2 WCTH actors to the show! (1 left very unexpectidly in the 5th Season, and the other was infamously in jail for a short time for her role in the collage admission scandal.).

And that's not all, A lot of Hallmark actors are showing their support for this network, even a few actors that previously wanted Hallmark to be more diverse and inclusive. (even the actress who was in the movie with the first gay couple wedding recently gave her support to GAC Family!) Just yesterday, 1 actor who's done plenty of Hallmark movies inked a deal with GAC Family to make more movies for the network.

So what's the real reason for it? I'm thinking that it's either because Bill was a great guy to work with, or maybe people are not liking what Hallmark is slowly turning into, or there are some very smart actors out there who know what real family values really are. (I'd say maybe a bit of all 3).

Could this be a real threat to Hallmark's popularity? In ratings, probably not, given how low ratings are everywhere on cable networks, especially since Hallmark is always high rated around the holidays. But down the line? I definitely think so.

Hallmark reuses a lot of actors for 2 reasons: They 're popular, and their movies bring in high ratings. Movies with Asians or Blacks, or unfamiliar actors? They don't really do so well.

If more regular actors on Hallmark start doing more movies on GAC Family, (which I fully predict they will), and Hallmark starts bringing in more unfamiliar faces, particularly Asians or Blacks, and doing more movies that sneak in gays, Ratings are going to start going down for the movies, and support among even really heavy Hallmark fans will start declining. Because Hallmark's audience is largely for conservatives, not the woke crowd, and it shows, on social media, and in the ratings!

I've loved Hallmark since 2014, I enjoy watching their movies, and I enjoy buying their cards for my family, but the direction that they've been on since 2019? Not the right direction.

I don't mind movies with Blacks or Asians, I've seen most of Hallmark's movies featuring non whites since 2019. But, I can probably only name like 2 or 3 that I even really liked. The rest were either boring or not even interesting.

As for their shows, Hallmark canceled Good Witch this year, which it deserved for having a gay couple, and the distaste for it showed in it's low ratings, which it also rightfully deserved!! Chesapeake Shores (no gays on this show, thankfully) might be next because it's ratings were lower then usual this summer. Which means When Calls the Heart would be the only show left on the network, and who knows what will happen to it.

I'm still watching some of Hallmark's new movies, and I plan on watching most of their new Christmas movies this year, but I fully plan on watching all of GAC Family's new movies.

Hallmark needs to learn what happens when you try to go woke, and we all know what that is! And I feel confident that GAC Family will slowly be that competition that slowly, yet surely wins in the end. Because traditional family values matter, and they need to be preserved, not pushed aside for boring movies or an inappropriate lifestyle!

Here's GAC Family's 1st original movie:

God bless Bill Abbott in his quest to preserve those traditional values!
