No Mask = No Vote. Canadian Woman Denied Voting For Not Wearing A Mask.

 

I recently saw a post on IG of a gal I follow occasionally for women issues that caught my attention. She was trying to vote for our upcoming federal election at one of the advance poll stations and was denied doing so and was told they were going to call the police on her. 

Why??? She wasn't wearing a mask. Despite the space in the line, despite the hand sanitizer every you turn, despite only allowing a few people in at a time, despite the fact that everyone else was in a mask and most likely vaccinated too, this young lady was told she wasn't allowed to vote. 

Election Canada put out an official statement: 

"In order to maintain a safe and secure environment for electors and election workers, individuals who refuse to wear a mask where masks are required will be refused entry to the polling station,”

Canada has almost 80% of its population double vaccinated so I question why ONE person, who isn't even sick, posing a risk or threat? And the police? I am astounded that my friends and family do not see what the big deal is. The police taking you away from voting? In Canada 2021?
