If you read the Reuters transcript of the phone call between President Biden and former Afghan President Ghani, you know how important optics are to Joe Biden. But if that call wasn’t enough to convince you, Friday’s stunning report in the New York Times will do the trick. The optics are so important to Joe Biden, he droned an innocent family to project the optics of “toughness.”
After the terrorist attack in Kabul that killed thirteen US service members, Joe Biden, when he eventually peeked out from his hidey-hole, played the tough guy. Plagiarizing a bit from former President George W. Bush, old Joe read:
”To those who carried out this attack, as well as anyone who wishes America harm, know this: We will not forgive. We will not forget. We will hunt you down and make you pay. I will defend our interests and our people with every measure at my command.”
Three days after Biden made this tough-guy vow (cribbed from George W. Bush), and the same day Joe and Jill went to Dover Air Force Base for the dignified transfer ceremony, there was a drone strike in Kabul.
Shortly after the strike, US CENTCOM spokesman Captain Bill Urban released a statement saying, in part:
“U.S. military forces conducted a self-defense unmanned over-the-horizon airstrike today on a vehicle in Kabul, eliminating an imminent ISIS-K threat to Hamad Karzai International airport.”
Capt. Urban also said that they were “assessing the possibility of civilian casualties, though we have no indications at this time.”
Later, CENTCOM acknowledged that civilians were killed, but claimed they died as a result of “substantial and powerful subsequent explosions resulting from the destruction of the vehicle, indicating a large amount of explosive material inside that may have caused additional casualties.”
Only there were no ISIS-K terrorists. There was no car loaded with explosives. And there were no “substantial and powerful subsequent explosions” caused by a bomb-packed vehicle.
Instead, there was Zemari Ahmadi, a 14-year employee of a US-based NGO. There was Ahmadi’s white Toyota filled, not with explosives, but with containers of water he was bringing home to his family.
They targeted and droned an innocent family.
I strongly recommend you read through this Twitter thread from New York Times reporter Evan Hill.
This drone strike, which Joint Chiefs Chairman General Mark Milley on September 1 called a “righteous strike,” was anything but.
The Biden administration lied about all of it – the terrorists, the explosive-packed car, the secondary explosion – all of it. They lied so Joe could have the optics of striking back on the same day he went to Dover for the dignified transfer.
They droned an innocent family and killed them with a Hellfire missile – all so that bungling fool Joe Biden could have the optics of instantly following through on his vow to “hunt you down and make you pay.” All so this administration and their media sycophants could point to this drone strike and say, “Don’t mess with Joe Biden! No sir! When he makes a threat, he follows through!”
Now do you understand why the Pentagon refused to provide the names of the terrorists killed in this drone strike? Because there were no freaking terrorists! There was just Zemari Ahmadi and his family.
Of course the White House is claiming that this particular drone strike was not done by Joe’s command. Instead, they are pointing fingers and claiming that someone further down the chain of command made the decision to order this drone strike.
So much for “with every measure at my command.”
Bill Clinton bombed an aspirin factory to distract from the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
But Joe Biden did him one better. He droned an innocent family all so he could look tough and “proactive” after his bungling withdrawal killed thirteen American service members. And they timed this “righteous strike” to happen just as the President was going to meet the bodies of the fallen Americans he vowed to avenge.
And the fact that we learned this the day before the twentieth anniversary of 9/11 … I’m … honestly? I’m so disgusted right now, I can’t even find the words.
I’ll leave it to Becket Adams to express it for me:
