FBI Investigating Assault on Female US Service Member by Group of Male Afghan 'Evacuees'

Nick Arama reporting for RedState

The FBI is now investigating an alleged attack on a female U.S. service member.

The FBI is saying that a “small group of Afghan male evacuees” at a refugee housing complex at Fort Bliss in New Mexico assaulted the service member on September 19. FBI Public Affairs Officer Special Agent Jeanette Harper confirmed the investigation.

Officials at Fort Bliss released the following statement:

We can confirm a female service member supporting Operation Allies Welcome reported being assaulted on Sept. 19 by a small group of male evacuees at the Doña Ana Complex in New Mexico. We take the allegation seriously and appropriately referred the matter to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The safety and well-being of our service members, as well as all of those on our installations, is paramount. We immediately provided appropriate care, counseling and support to the service member. Task Force-Bliss is also implementing additional security measures to include increased health and safety patrols, additional lighting, and enforcement of the buddy system at the Dona Ana Complex. We will cooperate fully with the FBI and will continue to ensure the service member reporting this assault is fully supported.

What isn’t defined here is what type of assault. When they talk about “group of Afghan male evacuees,” “additional lighting” and “buddy system,” that’s making me think it’s a sexual assault of some kind, although they don’t say that at this point. It’s still being investigated and charges haven’t been filed yet.

This would be the third assault by an Afghan evacuee this month. Two Afghan evacuees who are staying at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin were just indicted Wednesday; one was indicted on charges of sexual assault on a minor including use of force, and the other was indicted for choking and suffocating his wife.

One other Afghan man evacuated to the United States was found to have been a convicted rapist once he reached this country.

These are the folks the Biden administration claims were totally vetted? It sure looks like this is the typical way that the Biden folks do things – the most slipshod way imaginable.

From Fox News:

Rep. Yvette Herrell, a Republican congresswoman who represents New Mexico’s 2nd congressional district, called the news a “vetting failure.”

“My prayers are with the courageous soldier and her family. This is yet another tragic failure in the vetting process for Afghan nationals,” Herrell tweeted. “The American people deserve answers.”

Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford and four other Republican senators demanded answers about the vetting process.

“How many Afghan nationals are waiting on background checks at a transit site? How many Afghan nationals have been paroled into the United States?” the Republican senators asked. “What specific categories, classes, or criteria constitute the Administration’s definition of ‘vulnerable Afghans’? How many individuals who have been paroled into the United States fall under each category, class, or criteria?”

The Biden Administration still refuses to tell us and has not broken down how many Afghans entered the country because they helped the United States versus how many came in because the Biden Administration just decided to take them, declaring them “vulnerable” – meaning they could be people who had no connection to the United States at all. Only about three percent of the 60,000 who have been brought into the United States were actually the more vetted SIVs.
