Joe Biden, With Eyes Bloodshot and Five Hours Late, Insults Everyone Watching With Surreal Presser

Bonchie reporting for RedState

Joe Biden finally gave his big Afghanistan presser this afternoon. Arriving five hours late for the event, the President took the stage. His eyes were bloodshot and glazed over with his pace of speaking obviously labored as he began to robotically read the teleprompter.

What then transpired was one of the most insulting, tone-deaf spectacles I’ve ever seen from a president. Instead of getting right into the crisis in Afghanistan, Biden inexcusably began the presser by plugging his “Build Back Better” agenda.

No, I’m not kidding. It was absolutely surreal.

Biden would go on to spend minutes talking about the “climate crisis” and bragging about Democrats passing a “voting rights” bill (that will die in the Senate). Before he even mentioned the disaster unfolding in Afghanistan, he praised Nancy Pelosi for her work on the budget bill and claimed that he had produced 4 million jobs. It was disgustingly disconnected from reality.

Later, Biden would finally move to the issue of the day. At that point, he lied about today’s call with the G7 leaders, claiming they were supportive and standing shoulder to shoulder with him on his withdrawal from Afghanistan. That’s contrary to public reports that the Brits and Germans are furious at what is going on and are begging us to extend the timeline because they can’t get everyone out in time.

Here were Biden’s comments on that matter.

And we had a productive discussion. There were strong agreement among the leaders about both about evacuation mission underway, as well as the need to coordinate our approach to the Afghanistan as we move forward first on evacuation, we agree that we will continue to close our close cooperation to get people out as efficiently, as safely as possible. We are currently on a pace to finish by August 30. The sooner we can finish, the better. Each day of operations brings added risk to our troops….

At the same time, we renewed our humanitarian commitment to the Afghan people and supported a proposal by the Secretary General GRA, terrorist of the United Nations, led an international response with Unfettered humanitarian access in Afghanistan. Third, we talked about our mutual obligation to support refugees and evacuees currently fleeing Afghanistan. The United States will be a leader in these efforts, and we’ll look to the international community and to our partners do the same. We’re already seeing our allies commitment. They’re bringing to their countries.

The gaslighting followed a pattern of Biden doing the same over the last several weeks. He continues to act as if everything is going well, reciting his talking points. In fact, much of today’s speech was lifted from the speech he gave a week ago. He blamed Trump, he talked about killing Osama Bin Laden, and he insisted that our allies were absolutely fine with everything occurring. It was like Groundhog Day.

But what I took the most from this presser is this: Biden is sick.

As I said, his eyes were bloodshot and glazed over. It was difficult to even see the whites of his eyes at times. His presentation was cold, with no empathy to be found. Upon finishing his teleprompter reading, he simply stumbled out, taking no questions, clearly unable to physically and mentally do so. It was obvious why he was five hours late for this presser. Something is bad wrong with the president, and there’s no way it can be ignored anymore.

Right now, we have the emergency in Afghanistan playing out, and that’s first and foremost. Thousands of Americans are trapped and ISIS and Al Qaeda are on the rise again. But long-term, the fact that we do not actually have a president will become the most pressing matter. The United States is a rudderless ship, drifting along as our stature in the world collapses. Americans, including the media, better start paying attention because our enemies dang well are.
