Great news Vermont! Governor Phil Scott has changed COVID vaccine guidelines so that anybody sixteen years or older can now receive the vaccine!
But not if you’re white.
Dare I say it, but this sounds like Jim Crow on steroids.
Now, I don’t know when the Fourteenth Amendment and the Civil Rights laws were repealed. But clearly Phil Scott thinks they have been.
Or maybe Phil Scott thinks it’s okay to violate the Constitution so long as you are discriminating against white people.
Let’s be honest. He isn’t the only one who thinks this nowadays.
It was just last week that Senators Tammy Duckworth and Mazie Hirono were demanding that Biden stop nominating white people. Why shouldn’t Phil Scott require a racial litmus test for COVID vaccines?
As I said in my post on Jamaal Bowman yesterday, so-called “progressive” policies always seem to send us backwards. So it isn’t a galloping shock that Phil Scott would take Vermont back to the good old days of Segregation.
And for some reason, the Wuhan Panic offered a golden opportunity for politicians to kick this “Yay Segregation!” thing up to Spinal Tap 11.
Discriminating based on race is illegal. It doesn’t matter if you’re looking to discriminate against black people or white people or Asians – it is flat-out illegal and wildly unconstitutional.
Perhaps Phil Scott doesn’t know that.
Or, perhaps Phil is feeling some heat over recent kvetching at Vermont’s “whiteness.” The racial bean counters have zeroed in on Phil’s state because it is 93% white. So in an effort to prove that some of Vermont’s best friends are BIPOC (naturally there’s an acronym), Phil Scott decided to use vaccinations as a virtue signaling device.
Blacks make up only 1.2% of Vermont’s population — Hispanics 2.01% and native Americans (ACA “indigenous”) 1.86%. Did Phil only get a few dozen vaccines? Why limit distribution to less than six percent of the population?
There are less than seven hundred thousand people in Vermont. There is absolutely no reason to racially segregate vaccine distribution in a state whose entire population is the same as the city of Boston.
Now, I know some of you are thinking, “But he’s not a Leftist Democrat; Phil Scott is a Republican!”
So is Mitt Romney.
What’s your point?
You think Republicans can’t be suckered in by the racial grievance industry? Republican Senators were floating the idea of getting rid of Columbus Day in exchange for Juneteenth in order to placate the BLM rioters. They toyed with the idea of changing the names of military bases to quell those violent grievance mongers.
Phil Scott might be a Republican, but he’s just as “progressive” as the rest of the regressive racialists on the Left.
If you live in Vermont and are white (which, there’s a 93% chance you are), take a look at that tweet again. If you are over sixteen and want to get vaccinated, go ahead and sign up. And when you turn up to get the shot, simply tell them, “But I and the rest of my household identify as black.”
I mean, what’s he going to do? Stand at the entrance to the vaccination site like George Wallace at the schoolhouse door and refuse to let you in?
Wait. Maybe I shouldn’t give Phil any ideas.
